    Rhinoplasty

So for some reason I've been noticing in my holiday photos that my nose seems more obvious than in the past... either it's getting bigger or my head is getting smaller! Ugh! So I'm seriously considering getting a nose job in the future but I don't even know where to start! Does anyone know of any good doctors in Maryland for this type of procedure? Should I go out of state maybe? Or is this one of those things that requires a lot of follow-ups that would be a hassle to go out of state for?

Be careful with who you pick. This isn't like breast aug., if it's fucked it can be easily fixed. With rhino, you have that one chance usually. I just know this bc of someone I know had to go through twice.

Look through a rhinoplasty forum, do searching there. Good luck.

I had one done when I was 16 in NY and loved the results. It was like 2 weeks recovery, no black eyes or anything, but it was sensitive for about a year after to any touch (like when changing clothes and stuff).

You have to talk to people and ask around if you don't want to end up with a cookie cutter nose...one that is cute, but doesn't necessarily fit the shape of your face the way it should (like boobs). Mine is not perfect, but it was HUGE before and it fits me really well. You would have no idea that I had it done.

Go to Dr. Clevens in Melbourne, Florida. He is AMAZING.

Yeah the whole nose job idea is nerve racking! I am definately trying to do some research on it so that I make the right choice.

Viola - I looked briefly over dr. clevens site....he seems to do a good job. much better than some of the doctors I looked over here in maryland. I appreciate the info

I just figured with john hopkins being right here there'd be a lot of surgeons here who are very good at this procedure.

That's really good advice. Make sure you do your research VERY well first. A lot of people do end up getting a revision (or 2, sometimes more) because they don't go to the right Dr. the first time. And revision's are not only very hard to do and very expensive, they're also nearly impossible to get exactly right since the doctor has less cartilage, ect to work with.

    Good Luck!!

I had to have mine revised because the tip of my nose didn't heal correctly. I'm sure you might need revisions with any type of cosmetic surgery so I guess that is not unique. But if I would have traveled I'd have had to go back a few times. I got mine done in New Orleans over 10 yrs ago and couldn't be happier. Do be careful who you choose.

Good God, even for a first time nose job? Surely not 20 grand for a first time job??? Although in terms of multiple revisions I suppose some people pay that much or even more after you add it all up.

No, A Primary Rhino is about 8,000-11,000 with him. He is a perfectionist with revisions and is known for using rib when the patient has little or no cartilage left. He also usually takes hours in surgery. 8 hours is average for a revision and it's an extra 1,000 for every hour you're in surgery.

But like you said it's very much worth it if your nose is really bad and since most doctors cannot do revisions correctly I think it's best in certain situations to go to someone like Toriumi because he is possibly one of the few doctors in the world who can do a revision right. He teaches all over the world, and has written a few medical books.
He is one of the 'top 5' rhino doctors.

I have never heard of anyone who's been unhappy with him aside from the price.

For a primary though I would check out the Doctor who did Ashley Simpson's nose. He only does noses that haven't been touched already and he's supposed to be quite good.
There's several other doctors who have really good reputations as well. Reseach!!

I would check out all of the Rhinoplasty forums/boards. There is a lot of good info. of them.

Curious... what source did you discover that he performed Ashlee's rhinoplasty?

Do you know of any good ones? I have looked at faceforum.com but I'm not too impressed.

I would love to get my deviated septum corrected and just straighten out the bump on my nose. This is one surgery I am very hesitant to do though because I don't really want to alter my appearance just improve my profile. Really, I want to go back to the way nature intended my nose to look originally.

He stated in an interview that he preformed her Rhinoplasty...she was seen leaving his office several times as well. I think the interview was in People magazine a few months back.

He's a pretty well known surgeon though and has a good reputation. I also remember reading that Cameron Diaz was going to have him fix her nose because she was so impressed with the Job he did on Ashley Simpson's.

As far as a good Rhino forum goes. This one is the one that I went to:

I haven't been on there in a few months though but the people were very friendly and informative.

I don't know off the top of my head. I just remember reading Dr. Toriumi's name on every list complied of the 'best rhino doctors'.

One of the other one's I have seen over and over is a Dr. Davis...They bring him up all the time on the Rhino forums. Not sure what his first name is though or which state he's in...Sorry I can't be of more help....I have a terrible memory and that's all I can think of right now...I will try and find one of the many list's floating around out there and post it.

I do know that there is a Dr. in NY that people travel to go to all the time...If you go to one of the Rhino forums and ask who the best surgeons in a certain area are you will usually get a lot of replies and info as well as personal experiences, pictures, ect...

I figured out he was her surgeon by doing a google search. Then I searched just his name and came up with the website I linked to here.

I know an amazing doctor in Maryland (Baltimore area). He did my septoplasty after I broke my nose, and was just awesome. He gave me a thorough consultation, gave me plenty of details and let me ask as many questions as I needed to, and was UBER-patient.

I was a fucking basket case too, as surgery is one of my biggest fears! I was practically hyperventilating beforehand, imagining every worst-possible-case scenario, convinced I was going to wake up without a nose and hear "i'm sorry to tell you this, but something went horribly wrong"...terrified something would get botched and I wouldn't be able to breathe at all...um yeah, the thought of surgery makes me downright ill.

But my doctor was amazing...he specializes in nasal surgeries and is excellent at what he does...he also did rhino on my mother years ago, which is how I ended up going with him. I'm considering having rhino done sometime next year--not a full job, but b/c I broke my nose when I was in my teens and allowed it to knit crookedly before getting it fixed years later, he did warn me that I might be left with a slightly crooked bump on the bridge--and he was right! So I'm thinking about having that filed down, and would absolutely go back to him for it if I decide to put my fear aside again and do it.

if you're interested in his contact info, drop me a PM.
