Default Laser tattoo removal, I'm starting it soon!

Like many people, I was a dumb ass at 18 and got a lot of ugly tattoos. Now, nearly 6 years later I hate them and just want them gone! I like well done tattoos on girls who have the attitude and look to pull them off, but I've grown up to be a total girlie girl - my stage name is now Barbie, that should give you an indication of what I am now like!

I'm starting laser removal on January 19th. I have 4 small tats, 1 medium, and one large. They're all black ink, which is the easiest to remove because it absorbs the entire spectrum of the laser (the closer the color is to your skin color, the harder it is to remove). I'm going to Dr. Jeanine Stein in Melbourne, Florida. It should be relatively straightforward and easy. I'm an ideal candidate, a fair skinned person with dark tattoos. Dr. Stein said people with dark skin tend to lose pigmentation. She says I will not have ANY scarring if I take care of the site and don't pick at it and it will be like I never even had a tattoo.

This first session, we're only treating one completely to see how my skin reacts to the laser, and doing a test on the medium one because it's black ink covering brown and the laser will react differently. The first session will be $250 to treat one area and do another small test area. After that, every 6 weeks I will go back to treat 3 of the 6 tattoos at $400. The doctor said I will be MISERABLE if we treat them all at once - which side will I sleep on? She expects that I will need as little as 3 sessions per area to as many as 10.

I'll be posting lots of pics and will let you know what I'm going through.

I had over 10 sessions on a tattoo, and it wouldn't budge...especially the black. Mind you, it was a deep tattoo. It hurts like hell too...just a warning.
Good Luck, I hope yours lifts!

You should make sure to take pictures of your ink first, for the memories.

Good luck! I hope it's not too painful for you.

I agree, definitely make sure to take pictures if you're doc doesn't. Not just for memories but since it takes a while for the ink to fade you can forget what it looked like to begin with and not realize the progress it's making. Good luck with the black ink, I've got the same. It's fading but it's taking it's sweet time...still better than any colors would though. It won't hurt any more than getting it in the first place but I always ask for extra freezing cause I'm a baby! Good Luck!

Yep, everything. I got them all at a very naive time in my life, so they have little special meaning to me anymore. I want a "clean slate".

My back piece is sound holes (f holes, uh huh huh huh) like on a viola (hence my old stagename, Viola Strings) but I stopped playing when I was 20 and looking at it just makes me feel like I failed at something that was really important to me (because I did).
