    Default Teasing Hair

Okay... I bought a special comb to tease my hair... how the hell do I use this thing?! I think I'm doing it wrong, it's not getting bigger, just ugly and tangly!! I know I'm supposed to brush towards my scalp... Where on the length of the hair do I start brushing? Do I do it in one long sweep or lots of short ones? ANY advice on teasing hair would be awesome... I want to do a half-up do (it's for an 80's party... but I don't want to look too silly... just a good in between).

You have to do it in sections, like an inch or two at a time. And yes, it will be ugly and ratty where you tease it; you then smooth the outer part of the hair over the teased part. (There's a reason that teasing is also called "ratting.")

I used to do mine with an old toothbrush, way back in the day.

^I think I'm starting to get the hang of it... but it's not big enough! I think my hair is too long? Someone come over and do my hair!

The teased stuff will be ugly and tangly...the trick is to get the underneath all big and rat's-nest-y, then cover it with 'smooth' hair.

ACK! New plan... slightly teased (I think my hair is just too heavy for this) and pulled into a messy ponytail to the side with peices out around my face and I'm using a three-barreled curling iron on the pony tail. I will post pictures in a few hours. Oh... and I got a little "Happy New Year" tiara thing... is that stupid?

If it's not big enough, tease it some more. You can keep ratting and ratting until it gets as big as you want. A good trick is to blow-dry it upside-down, but if it's already dry you can just keep teasing it.

and LOTS of hairspray. Seriously. Hairspray for about thirty seconds and then rat it some more, and then repeat about ten times.

    Then hairspray some more.

Great for the new plan! Many photos like that have the new 'hump' in the back of the head to make hair look bigger too! It's a clip on, real hair teased over it. Allure mag. has lots about hair every month or so...
