I called a few bars today, and called back a few of the bars that I'd placed an application at. Well, I happened to call at the right time...I called a bar, and the GM answered. He told me that he'd just gotten a few apps, didn't have time to look over them, and to stop by because he wasn't at the bar very often(he owns a few other bars in the area). He told me that I could stop by then, and there was no need to "doll myself up."(which meant, that I should wear casual yet sexy clothing to show that I'm attractive) So I went down there, wear a cleavage-bearing tank top with a sweater cardigan, and he hired me after talking to me for a few minutes!! This is one of the first times that I've had this kind of luck with jobs!(the other time was when I got hired at the insurance office this summer) I'm gonna start training this Friday. I'm so excited! For a while there, I was getting really worried that I wouldn't find a job.
I was starting to seriously consider bartending school(the school has a good reputation for finding people some really good jobs), but the only thing I have to pay for it is a credit card(and I've racked up tons of credit card debt in the last month, because I stopped dancing and I had to buy Christmas presents and living expenses). I was worried that if I paid for bartending school and completed it, what if I didn't find a job afterwards and I was put in the same situation as I was when I went to college and didn't find a job but left with all kinds of debt? So now I don't need to go. I might still go to bartending school eventually if I feel the need to learn more and make more complex drinks(a SW friend of mine told me that he heard that most bartenders go to school after they've had a job or two, to become better bartenders...NOT to start off). But for now, I can see where this job takes me. The manager said that it gets really busy on Thursday nights. I used to go there a few years ago, and I remember some nights being dead, and some being pretty packed. I hope I make a lot of money!
So hopefully this will work out!! I'm excited, because I've been looking for a way to pay my living expenses(other than credit cards) without dancing. Not that dancing is bad or anything, but I was getting burned out and I don't have the hard-hustling mentality that dancing requires to make a lot of money(in other words, I realized after some time that dancing wasn't really "me"). What a way to start off the new year!! Hopefully 07 will be better than 06!
