    Thumbs down Good Morning!

So my boyfriend got back in town yesterday. We spent the afternoon and evening together, and went to bed well after midnight. At about 6:30 this morning, he woke up to the sound of the cat throwing up all over our couch. He got up to clean it...

And while he was cleaning it, I woke up to the cat jumping onto the bed. He came over and stood with his front paws on my leg. He stood there for a minute, then pawed and scraped like he does after using the litterbox. Then he hopped down off the bed, about the time that the "after using the litterbox" part of what he'd just done occurred to me. I got up, went to move the blanket, and stuck my hand in fresh cat shit. That's right, he took a dump on my feet and I stuck my hand in it!

He has NEVER done anything like this before. He's going to the vet today. But dammit, what a lousy way to wake up in the morning! Especially for my poor boyfriend... the first night he gets to be back home in his own bed, and he's woken up six hours later by THAT.

My cat is such an asshole.

Maybe the cat is jealous, or upset? That is usually why they would shit/piss on something you like. Don't let them learn they get more attention if they do that. Sure you cat is missing something, but you don't want them to learn that they can do that and get more attention. Switch them to food they don't like for a week or so. lol

Boy cat shit in the morning.... gag.

Hope kitty feels better. Nothing serious.

Well, it didn't look like diarrhea. Looked like a normal, healthy shit to me, except for the fact that MY FINGERPRINTS WERE IN IT. Grrrr. But yeah, I'm about to take him to the vet in a minute.

^^ Well shit never looks good and that goes double for cats. To the vet with ye. Does your cat ever wander out of doors? I know mine have eaten funny things once or twice, and it has upset their stomachs. I also know they used to like to piss in my book bag. Especially if they were not getting much attention.

Ooooh I would have been pissed too. That's a shitty way to start the day (no pun intended). Hope he's ok.

He is still at the vet; we left him there and we'll pick him up this afternoon. The vet says he has allergies, and also found a tapeworm. He says he's throwing up all the time because he's licking his itchy skin too much; in fact, all the hair on his ass is thin with bald patches. He's even licked until he bled a couple of times. The vet seems pretty sure it's allergies, so he gave him a cortisone shot and they're giving him a medicated bath. And we have to ease fish out of his diet because he eats too much fish, and the vet says cats are very often allergic to it.

So hopefully this will stop the relentless shedding, the dry dandery skin that aggravates my own allergies, and the constant vomiting. I still don't know why he shit on my feet though. Hopefully he'll decide that shitting on the bed equals a trip to the vet with shots, and he won't shit the bed anymore.

What is this...."Moarn..ang Sahks"? Sounds like a ritualistic way to kill potential people...

Oh, we're STILL adorable when cleaning up cat poo and vomit!

Anyway, yeah, I'm just glad it's something easily fixed. At his advanced age (approximately 16), you never know what it's going to be. My boyfriend was convinced it was some kind of "ass cancer."

At the risk of sounding like a crazy and too-kind cat lady, I'll add my touchy-feely $.02...

Since animals can't talk, they have to figure out other ways to express their needs, and your little guy was probably feeling very crappy, and was probably very frustrated by it. Cats especially tend to "act out" when their needs aren't being met. Of course, your post implies that you know this already, which is good. For example, I allow my cat outdoors, and since he tends to use the out-of-doors as a bathroom, I will sometimes get kind of lax about cleaning the litterbox, because, as I see it, he doesn't visit it very frequently anyway. However, the past few times that I HAVE gotten around to cleaning it, my cat will make a special trip indoors to pee and poop in the COVER of his enclosed litterbox when I remove it for cleaning. I think it's his way of saying "woman, it's about damn time you cleaned this shit up, and I'm gonna teach you a thing or two."

Anyway, the bright side of your story is that your cat's actions brought the desired consequences. CatFace did something out of character, and you took him to the vet, and the vet found some problems... good! I'd agree with Pamela that the solution of his physical problems will most likely be the end of his behavioral problems. If he DOESN'T behave better once his symptoms are cleared up, then I suppose you ought to start worrying, but you can cross that bridge if/when you come to it.

Hugs to your CatFace, I hope he feels better.

Thanks, hydra! I'm sure he'll be feeling much better very soon. I've had bad skin allergies before, and a cortisone shot clears it right up. He's usually a very affectionate and lovable guy, so hopefully he'll be right back to his normal self.

looks like you got to the bottom of the multiple yak problem also. god knows i'd be parking yaks all over the house if i was licking my allergic, tape-wormy self till i bled.

    **lick lick**

^^^ The vet says that almost all cats love it, but most of them are allergic to it, some more so than others. Sort of like people and shellfish I guess, or peanuts. Most people like shellfish and peanuts too but very many are allergic, so I guess cats are the same way with fish. He did say we should phase it slowly out, so we'll use up the rest of the fishy cat food that we have right now and then just not buy anymore.

We are also very happy that there is no ass cancer! We've suspected that something was wrong with his ass for a little while now, but I figured it was just his skin and hair going bad from old age. Taking him to the vet is one of those things we've been thinking about doing but weren't sure we really needed to, until this morning. I guess all it took was a good heavy dump on my feet. Hopefully he'll never have to resort to that again!

awww. LMAO. I will never forget the day I accidentialyl locked my cat in the closet overnight. He must have gone in there when I went to get out his food the night before, and i didnt know it until the next morning, when I opened the closet to feed him again, and he ran out! I felt soo bad. But - he had revenge in mind.

When I got ready to leave for work, and put my foot into my shoe, it sliiid in. to warm, gooshy......shit. My cat, bless his heart, shit in my shoe. And people think cats arent smart.

i couldn't be mad at him. I did deserve it.

    Ewwwww!! But yeah. Very smart.

My friend has a cat that used to pee in the toaster whenever he was angry. It was especially smart because you wouldn't notice he'd done it until you turned the toaster on, and it would radiate the smell of burning pee ALL OVER the house. They kept throwing away toasters and replacing them, and he kept peeing in them whenever he felt angry, and finally they eventually decided to just live without the toaster. So next time he was ticked off, what did he do...?

He peed on the stove burner and achieved the same effect.

VERY smart cat. Fortunately he tired of that habit.

    UPDATE:

He's home from the vet! He looks glossier and healthier already. The medicated bath did wonders for his fur, and the combination of bath and shot are already working. The bumps on his skin have gone down considerably, he isn't rubbing his chin on every sharp corner anymore, and he's not scratching or chewing his butt. He keeps purring and seems very happy to be home; he really hated being at the vet. But he already looks, and seems to be feeling, a lot better.

So I forgive him completely for shitting on my feet. He just better not do it again.
