    Default Curious Question

Girls, I am what my closest friends refer to as a "wanna be stripper". A friend of mine started setting up "gigs" for me several years ago and its always worked out really nicely. He tells me whats up, where the party is , there's usually quite a few there that I actuallly know and my gig getter "D" is always right there kinda like a security measure.Example would be New Years Eve, my little pole and I worked a Frat house for a couple of hours. I was handed $300 up front, "D" got a third. Some dunk college boys threw some singles at me, D scooped em. Anyways I ve always been really comfortable doing this although I only do it maybe a dozen times a year, its just extra money for me, and not much at that. I'm curious about you girls that do it professionally. I assume you work for an agency that handles advertising and such. Do you get paid solely by the agency or by both it and the custy or what? And what kinda security do you have? I just feel soo comfortable when I look over and see D there ready to have my back at the nod of my head. Im too scared to do the whole club thing, tried it, was scared stiff!!! I thought I'd try my hand at this but dont know how to start. Any help or links would be appreciated. thanks!!!! Ya'll are always soo helpful

Um... sounds to me like you ARE a stripper and you ARE doing it professionally. You are being paid for it, no? So why not just own it?

But I don't get paid 1/2 what you gorgeous girls make. My point was would it be worth me checking out an agency to work with b/c like I said I don't do it often and I don't know if I could do it without my security blanket "D". I was so scared out of my mind when I auditioned at the club....I think I had an out of body experience.. The Mgr. said he could definetly tell I was new but I wasn't horrible. I was like thanks. He asked if I wanted to come in the next week.....never went back.... I SUCK!!!!But Ima work on it, the nerves I mean.

Just call up the agencies that service the area(s) you want to work within and ask them! Also tell them that you have your own security. If they insist on you using their security, I would be a bit suss on it. Also, don't expect to get the lucrative big gigs up front...........just like anything you have to play the game and work yourself up with the agent(s) before you are considered a "top girl" in the agency.

Also, read any contract over before you sign it... if the agent requires exclusivity on your part ... see if you are being paid a weekly 'retainer' (aka base pay) in order to be exclusive with that agent.

He's acting as the agent and the bouncer. A third of the base rate isn't too bad, if you ask me. My agency takes about a third then the dancers have to pay the bouncer on top of that.

You should be keeping 100% of your tips. Usually I get about double the base rate or more in tips. Your agent should be promoting that the guys at the party be ready to tip when you and the other dancers get there.

And, yes, you are a professional dancer. Don't sell yourself short.
