There's a girl at my club, not sure how long she's been there, but up until recently we only ran into each other occasionally. In the past few weeks though, we've started working most of the same shifts. Here's the ridiculous part.
We pretty much have the same wardrobe. One night I was wearing a black dress with two o-rings and a deep drape-neck slashed to the waist. I was walking downstairs as she was walking upstairs, and we both had a "wtf?" moment b/c she was wearing the exact same dress, but in white.
The next day I had on a plain white tube dress with slits up the sides...and she had on the exact same thing in black.
Same deal with a purple-and-black arabian costume that I had bought for a theme set--she's got a similar outfit (but in solid purple).
There's one dress that we have that's not only similar, it's the *exact same* champagne-colored dress with cut-out sides, glittery gold patterns on the fabric and a ring attaching the top to the skirt part. oy vey.
Having one dress that's similar, or even the same dress, isn't unusual or a big deal...and personally I don't really care if someone else is walking around the club
wearing the same dress as me. The club's big enough for both of us IMHO.
But we seem to have completely near-identical work wardrobesI haven't worn the champagne dress since I started at this club over half a year ago, since I found out that she had the exact same very-distinctive dress and it was pretty much her "trademark" costume. But fuck, now I feel like I wasted $60 on a gorgeous dress that's just sitting in my locker getting no use. And on NYE we both ended up in the o-ring dresses and were working the floor in them all night....and while that didn't bother ME, I felt pretty damn awkward, wondering if the whole situation is pissing HER off.

Maybe I'm overthinking this. But I don't want to buy more dresses--I like the ones I have, I picked styles/colours that flatter my body and complexion, and at $40-$80 a piece I really don't want to replace them. I also don't want to be stuck wearing the *one* dress that she doesn't have anything like, for every shift I work with her--which lately has been almost every night.
WTF are the chances of working with someone where you both have 5 outfits and 4 of them are the exact same dresses!? And to make things even more weird, we look similar physically--similar hair colour and length, skin tone, build, even similar makeup (loads of black smoky liner and dark purple shadow). During the past few weeks I've tried changing something up so we didn't look exactly the same--wearing my hair curly, wearing boots instead of the same black shoes, trying dark lipstick....but still.
Has anyone else ever had this happen? what would you do in this situation? Part of me thinks it's pretty damn funny, but the other part just feels awkward.
