    Default Atlanta license - Dekalb

I wanted to post this because I couldn't find this info ANYwhere online.

The Dekalb County entertainer license fee has been raised to $300 per year. MUST pay by money order. NO exceptions. You'll have to pass a criminal background check.

The license will cover any club in Dekalb County, but it'd be a good idea to get hired at a club before you shell out $300 for the license. Once hired, the club will give you info and directions on how and where to get licensed.

Get a money order from the post office, leave it blank and take it with you to the license office. They'll tell you to whom to make it out once they approve your background check. (I recommend a post office money order because if for some reason you don't pass the background check you can take it back to a post office and cash it in your own name.)

You'll need 2 forms of ID:
    1. valid state ID card or driver license (any state)
    2. valid birth certificate or passport (US based) OR green card

Once approved and paid, they'll prepare your license and give it to you in a few minutes. I just did it today and the whole process took about half an hour. The license office isn't too hard to find.

"You'll need 2 forms of ID"

Ever since Homeland Security became a buzzword, getting any kind of government license has become more expensive and tedious.

It's still $50 less than Fulton/City of Atlanta, and the Dekalb license is good for ALL clubs in the county (includes Pink Pony and Oasis). Unlike Fulton/ATL, where you have to get a separate license for EACH club. So I think it's still a much better deal than the competition

I just moved to ATL and got my Dekalb permit but I'm now being told that Fulton permits have been raised to $400 per club. It's crazy because I heard one of the girls asking "does anybody remember back when permits were $25"? Come to find out that was actually around the year 2000.

Frankly, I don't mind the permits being expensive. It keeps out large influxes of girls which spread the money too thin. It also helps keep extras and dirty dancing down. I don't mind paying that money for that kind of security

Yeah I was thinking that too until maybe last Friday when the DJ announced to the club "okay ladies make sure you are on top of things and don't miss your turn on stage. There are over 150 of you in here tonight so things are moving fast. And make sure all of you out there are tipping these ladies and get your dances, there are over 150 of them to choose from". I can't imagine what it would be like if there were no permit fees!

You're in CA where no one can afford to buy a home. 'Nuff said.

Oh no I just moved to Atlanta a month ago... I forgot to change my information on SW... I was just saying that even with permit fees being like $300 now (Dekalb County) there are still insane amounts of girls so what would it be like if there were no permits necessary?

Girl I left California largely because the cost of living was so high and so far Georgia has been good to me.

I work at Oasis and when I renewed my permit on Jan 3 it took me 2 hours. When you go to renew the hardest thing is the line. All they do is take your money and a new pic... they didn't even ask for my id just my old permit.

I also have a permit at the Cheetah... that was a dream except it takes two days. No lines just go in pay money wait the waiting period and pick up your permit. Thats it. A

And I agree with Bridgett, I like the high fees... keeps down the amount of girls. Although there are approx 28-60 girls a night at least at the O and 60+ @ the Cheetah.

^^Exactly. We're less likely to be invaded by all kinds of out of towners and fly-by-nighters because it's a much bigger investment to get started here, especially when you add the license fee to the cost of travel, etc. YAY for high license fees

Get hired by a club before going to get your license.

Whichever club hires you will give you directions and phone number to the license office, as well as other info needed.

I have been thinking of doing the same, actually. Not for a while though. The taxes here are insane! I want to stay down south and I think GA would be more lucrative than any other southern area. My man hates Florida and Texans sort of scare me. I'm glad to hear it's working out for someone.

And here comes the massive influx of girls to oversaturate and ruin business here too

Sorry, but that IS the cold hard fact girls. bleh

Thank god for that expensive-ass license, at least.

Sorry - but it's not my plan to ruin anyone's business. In fact, that is the farthest thing from my intentions in any city. A move to anywhere else would primarily be to make a better life for myself and my family.
I think stripping is pretty much oversaturated in any city. One could argue that it's a dying business anyway. Who knows...
What do you have to be afraid of anyway, B? I thought you were some invincible kickass hustler.

Believe me, it's not those Texans I'm afraid of.

In a way, this fear comes from a place of respect. I have a very "look but don't touch" feeling about Texas on the whole.

Most cities ARE oversaturated. ATL is somewhat immune to that due to the expensive license. Thank fucken god.

It's not that I'm afraid of anything. It's that I've seen the money potential literally drop by half in EVERY damn city that gets alot of new girls - so it's not in the grand scheme it doesn't help anyone at all. It hurts us ALL.

Clubowners and managers are largely to blame, of course. If they'd CAP the damn number of girls working it wouldn't be such a fucken problem

And it doesn't matter what kinda hustler you are. When there's too many girls, there's just too many fucken girls and EVERYONE's money decreases because of it. You just can't keep adding girls indefinitely because there's finite money in a club at any time. So adding girls only decreases everyone's potential. Period.

I know everyone thinks "well I'm not gonna make much difference, just one more isn't gonna hurt" - but how many think that and act on it? TOO MANY.

But, in a way...just to add my 2cents...don't you think that stripping just like any other business has a cycle...there is an ever changing "it girl"....meaning, of course customers like all different types of girls, but for each type of girl there is always an "upgraded" version.

However I do agree with you B, when you say it's the club/managers fault for the oversaturation. But, sometimes I don't think that it's because they bring on new girls...I think that sometimes it's because they let old girls stay way past their time.

Yes, they may have regulars, but that's just what they are occasional or maybe constant regulars. But, one thing customers love are fresh faces & new things, especially in a big city...I mean maybe in a small town, they can keep girls forever but I think in a city that would eventually be bad for business.

Not because old girls are out of their prime, it's just that when you've been somewhere so long, overtime you become territorial, your attitude/demeanor changes overtime, the energy levels dies etc.

That is one thing I constantly here from guys..."the girls weren't even interested they were dancing on stage in their own world"

It's like some (not all) become consumed by the HUstle ($$$) that they tend to forget what the hustle is really all about...it's about an illusion, it's about an experience.

I try to think of my self as a modern day cortisan (minus the sex)

DON'T BEAT ME UP ALL AT ONCE LADIES, LIKE I SAID JUST MY 2 CENTS!!

^That is partly why I travel and move around so much. I get an energy and attitude boost when I go to a new area/club. It keeps me fresh. I agree that staying in a club too long can make you "stale" - both in your own attitude and in the way some customers view you. In almost any club where there are girls who've been there for years and years, there are customers who "know" them, and admire them but aren't the slightest bit interested in buying dances from them - they've just seen too much of them.

However, invariably, those girls manage to make good money, and usually more than average. So they're doing something right. I bet they're making money off all the other customers who haven't been coming in for years and aren't bored of all the "old" girls I see no reason for management to get rid of these girls as long as they're making money. THEY are not the problem.

Yall younger girls just don't know what it was like before; if we'd been expected to deal back then with the shit we deal with now, all hell would've broken loose. I don't mean to say that it's any girls' fault. I mean to say simply that management ought to cap the number of girls on shift and the number hired - the way they USED TO. This of course would mean that many girls wouldn't be able to dance anymore, but frankly, there are MANY girls dancing in recent years who simply should not be. I am an "older" stripper and as such I have my flaws, but on my WORST day I still look better than plenty of these newbie chics 10+ years younger who are managing to get hired and crowd our dressing rooms, and spread the customer base too thin. I have seen waaaaaaayy too many girls get hired, especially in the last 5-7 years, who should have NEVER been allowed on the stage. Sheeit. 10-12 years ago the "nasty" bitches in the shitty little off-Bourbon dives in New Orleans looked better than alot of girls I've seen working in "upscale" clubs in the last few years There's something seriously wrong with that.
