I'm not a dancer, but I had a feeling this was the best place to come to learn the tricks of walking in heels. They're about 4 inches high and they're the highest shoes I've ever tried to walk in. Please help me!

Practice practice practice...
I remember before I started dancing i asked a girl how she does it.. she said 'DRUNK!'

i actually prefer the platform-ed 6 inchers because i find them to be more stable. make sure the bottoms of whatever shoes you wear have good grips. practice walking in them at home to do your daily things, doing dishes laundry etc.
Love it!
* but make sure not to practice on a plush carpet, ouch!
Wedges are great to practice walking in. They give you height with stability to get used to the height.
also, dn't try to make your steps in heels as big as your steps in tennis shoes.
Also, walk on the front of your shoes (the toes), not the heels.
do they hurt your feet at all or do you just feel like you're going to fall? my fetet are wide and i am used to wearing boots so when i wear my heels i have to be careful because they are so narrow. pay attention to the ground you are walking on. i can run in my heels on a solid floor inside, but i take teeny tiny steps in things like parking lots which have stones and uneven ground because one wrong move and im down. also, if they hurt the balls of your feet you might need platforms. i can wear 6 inch heels no problem, but they have a 2 inch platform on them. i can not wear any type of shoe that doesnt have a thick sole or platform, no matter if their flats or heels because it kills my feet to be that close to the ground. if thats hurting you, then try to get heels with a little bit of a platform. you can find 4 or 5 inch heels with a 1 or 2 inch platform.
Was DestyDoll, just changed to keep up with my new dance name.
well its not as hard as i thought it wud be.
when i first started..i got some chunky 6 inch heels. maybe u cud try with chunky heels to get used to it?
then i "graduated" to some spike heels after a few months...personally i think they look better. but it takes a while. even with my chunky heels my feet hurt so bad for a week!
anyways - ya jus like the other girls said, practice walkin in them at home...and yes not on the carpet~ somehwere like the kitchen or bathroom with hard floor!
step lightly, put most of yer weight on the platform.
and if u gotta take off yer bottoms by droppin them down...when taking out your shoes, remeber, heel first! b4 i knew that, id sort of trip on my clothes!
goodluck, swear its not hard!

Money Makes Me Horny
When I first started dancing I asked one of the girls how to walk in the shoes. She said to stand up straight and pull your shoulders back, which automatically kind of forced you to walk on your toes, but she did emphasize to walk on the toes not on the heel. Practice vacuuming in your shoes, thats what I was told and boy did it help. I could barely walk slowly when I first bought my 6 inch shoes, now I can run in them! You will learn quick! Good luck!
