Angry I am allergic to RAIN!

This is such bullshit. I grow up in one of the most humid cities in the USA, then I move to Los Angeles and suddenly I'm allergic to the fucking rain. The weather has been sunny and clear and I was fine... then tonight it began to rain and now I'm sitting here with tears streaming all over my face from my pouring, watery eyes. I can't breathe through my nose at all; it feels like someone is pinching it shut. Even swallowing is hard because no air can pass through my nose! My entire head feels like hell and I keep blowing my nose to no avail.

If past experience is any indicator, it will be like this for as long as it rains and for days afterward. This pisses me off so much. I hate feeling like a damn snotmonster and I know I won't get any sleep tonight because I'll be up all night blowing my nose and wiping my eyes. Grrr. Of all the things to be allergic to!

I need another scrip for generic Allegra... it helped a lot in the past. But I can't afford a doctor visit right now and don't have time for one either because I'm working. Argh. Pisses me off!!

Is their a gov't subsadized clinic there? Before I had insurance, when I moved out on my own, I went there (still do occassionally) and the visit was 10$, a script was super cheep as well. All you need is a noterized letter (write it yourself, have it signed at the bank) saying you make nly xx$ a month (less then a thou is safe). Make the time to go in, b/c you'll be so much more productive when you feel good!

    Feel better. xoxo

I think it's the air pollution (causing acidic rain)...everyone I know who has flown into LAX remarks on the horrifying layer of smog over LA. My last plane seatmate grew up in LA in the 50s and 60s and she said it was WORSE back then, if such a thing is imaginable.

Has anyone tried a dehumidifyer for this kind of problem?

I've been to the Free Clinic before, but I don't want to abuse it and get audited. I haven't lied on any of the info I've given them but I still don't need the hassle of an audit.

Anyway an appointment at the Clinic over the weekend doesn't help me now. I feel like ass.

Started when things got humid? Sounds like Mold spores. Air purifier could help as well as one of those nice vacuums with the HEPA filter.

Audited? How, who, and why would you get audited for using the free clinic? If you are broke, you can go wait in line with all of your favorite lovable illegal immigrant friends.

Or get some Afrin. Its addicting, but it will help you get through a couple of days until things clear up...

Want relief without addiction, try XClear nasal spray. All natural and non habit forming. You can use it as often as you like. Found in any health food store.

wait wait wait, i know we can be allergic to pretty much anything (and i know this better than anyone as im allergic to the freakin world, emily and mast can attest), but are you 100% SURE it's rain? it seems way more likely that the rain is causing the pollen to be kicking up into the air (as rain often does) and then you react. that's what's most common for those who have allergic reactions when it rains.

    Love it!

I agree with her. My allergies go nuts when it rains because of the pollen and mold it kicks up.

I don't think I'm allergic to rain... but I'm pretty sure my hair is. Frizz is the devil.

Well, yes, it's pollen and mold. I used the expression "allergic to rain" because my allergies only get this bad when it rains. Poetic license... sorry if I confused anyone.

It's bright and sunny again with amazingly blue skies, and I'm still thoroughly congested with a bad case of post-nasal drip. At least my eyes aren't running anymore. Unfortunately the ONLY thing my allergies will respond to is Allegra or its generic version, and I'm working right now and can't get away to go to the clinic. I'm just pissed off and venting.
