    After-work massage

Ok, I'm new to this site, I am trying to get some ideas on a lil plot that has been buzzing in my head lately - If you could share any thoughts or ideas I would be grateful.

I am a licensed massage therapist in Ohio, specifically in the Cleveland area and it was mentioned to me by some friends (married couple - not random guys) recently that their dancer for the night (at a club out here about a week ago) had made mention of needing a good rubdown and they had given her my business card. They reported that she was impressed that I offer appointments at any hour and was willing to travel with my table.

It dawned on me after this conversation that I could be offering therapeutic and some relaxation services specifically to dancers.

Basically: what would be the best/most comfortable set-up (hotel room near the venue, dressing room, have dancers just swing by my office {the front room of my apt}, etc...) and how would be the best way to introduce this service to the dancers?

Personally, I would only see someone for a massage outside of a regular spa by referral. Too many weirdos marketing specifically to strippers for "darker" motives...

Why dont you offer to do a massage to the dancer for a discount then give her some cards. Word of mouth is usually a great advertisement.

If the club is more upscale, maybe you could talk the manager into renting out some space and offering 15 or more minute massages to the girls for a fee.

That's why I thought to inquire here first. I have references available from private clients and even past patients who are willing to take calls/meetings. In general I only allow friends or previous patients at the clinics I work in to see me privately because of the exact same issues. Too many people think massage is a code word for asian whores as it is. And I am aware that being female doesn't guarantee safety, hence my concern about what would be the best way to start things off, to gain the trust of the community.

I work mostly on post-op orthopedic patients (in an office down the hall from the surgeons') and on cancer & AIDS patients. I don't want to offend anyone, nor give the wrong impression. I have no "dark intentions", only seeking to see if there is indeed a need, and if there is that, I could fill it.

Okay, well being female does make a bit of a difference. I would agree that maybe talking to club managers about having a space in the club where you could do massage for the ladies for a fee. Then, you would be able to get clients who might see you for massage at their home or wherever else you might be willing to go.

At the Rhino in Las Vegas they have a massage therapist in the dressing room for the dancers. She also pays a house fee ($35)...not as much as the dancers ($75) but she is always busy. I don't know what she charges...but, I would just ask management if you can "lease a space in the club" to do massages for the ladies for a fee.

Thank you, everyone so much for the advice so far - I'll see what I can sort out w/ my schedule over the next few weeks and make the rounds of the clubs in the area. I really appreciate it.

Yeah, I agree. I'd go to the clubs and lease their space. When I worked at Mons Venus threre was a massuese named Patrick who brought in his massage chair to the dressing room and charged $1/min...very well worth it. He rarely had time for a break and was always setting up appt's for home calls. I wish every club had a masseuese! Good luck!

Also, generally speaking, if you were to do massage inside a club your best nights would be Thur, Fri, Sat or at least one of those three nights.

If you cannot work inside a club, in order to get a dancer to use you ... offer a discount for the first massage to try to get ONE of the dancers at the club to speak highly of you to the other dancers and/or to place your business cards or flyers within the club.

You should try marketing your self, by talking to club owner or manger. There are some clubs that allow a massage therapist. TO come in an do massage on the dancer during and after work. But of course you charge a reasonable price to the dancer. But if they want services outside of the club. You can charge regular price.

I've worked with masseuses who worked the floor. They gave neck and back massages to both customers and dancers. She charged the same as a girl charged for a lapdance. Nice part was that the gentlemen could buy their dancer a song. It felt good, and since you were already out on the floor I didn't notice too much lethargy.

I'd probably do some sort of setup like that.
Also-- one dollar a minute is too cheap, especially if you have to add in additional time to clean off your chair/bed, and then get the next person situation. I'd go for two dollars a minute... or more depending on the girls.

If you are going to schedule the massages around a dancer's schedule, do it at the club. I can't imagine going out after work to get a massage and then having to worry about security in your building's parking lot.
You'd probably get some girls getting 20-30 minute massages between eleven and two which is when various girls leave their shift (or, that's what happens at my club.)

Or-- girls could always schedule you in house in the manager is okay with it...don't let them take advantage of you fee wise. You're offering another service to improve morale, and help out the dancers. If I was in your position, a stage fee sounds fine, but no percentage of your money unless you tipped for moms or bouncers bringing you extra business.

Wow-- had an idea, it'd be super cool if you were very good looking, could wear a provocative outfit, and give massages to the guys up in the VIP room-- yes, you'd be blurring the lines a bit, and you might have to pay out more, but you could get $300 an hour a few times a week on top of what you do for the girls.

I don't want to be a spoil sport, but..........I am also a LMT in Ohio. I am just thinking about a few things here.

First, how long have you been a therapist and don't you have enough clients from your medical refferals?

What would other medical professionals think about you working "IN" a strip club? What IF there is a bust on "dirty stuff" while you are at the club?

How would that affect you and your license? What would the medical board think about your working IN an adult oriented business? Don't MTs have enough trouble already?

I would be interested to know if the girl who got your card ever calls to set up an appointment. If she does you will get the referrals from her co-workers to come to your place. (no table schlepping)

If you go so far as to work on dudes in the club, you are gonna get the same chit that the dancers do, "what else do i get? How much for extras?". Wearing "cute" outfits while doing this? I think you are just asking for trouble there.

two cents worth and yes, I am a stick in the mud! But you know how it is in Ohio, Think about it. Also like the ladies here always say, Do a search on the topic here and see if you like what you read.

i think it'd go well as long as the club had a good amount of dancers. Or if you do massage for the custys, that can be great too... We occassionally have some ladies at my club who do this, and get 20$ per song.

Also, the "asian whore" statement that was made by the original poster, not nice.
You are gonna piss somebody off who is asian and not a ho

or a ho that is not asian. Statements like that perpetuate stereo types.

All good - I appreciate the ongoing advice and suggestions.

I have been an LMT here for about 4 years. The clinic I work in eats 40 office type hours a week - but pays muck all, in contrast I have fantastic - and I do mean really really great benefits. I can't afford such good benes on my own, nor can any of the independents I know. Most of the LMTs I know are married and on their hubbies benes, I am single, so I don't have that option. The rest are working at Starbucks for crappy benes for 20 hrs a week. I also have enough personal health issues (prolly a full hysterectomy 2º to widespread endometriosis & random ovarian cysts within the next year) that I can't afford not to have great insurance coverage. So I am looking for clients during hours that won't interfere with regular office hours.

As to a bust on a club - well that would be up to me to make sure that I am not in a position in a club like that. I have enough patients who are police officers and have already inquired w/ some of the boys & girls as to which clubs are "clean/safe" for such dealings. I trust the ones I asked and they have had some good advice to give.

As to my license - a client is a client, a patient is a patient, regardless of what they do for a living or how they choose to live their lives. I worked in the body piercing industry about 10 yrs ago on the other end of northern Ohio, and had nothing but positive interactions with the dancers we serviced. Which is why I am willing to consider this line of thought/work at all. & shocked that I didn't think of it myself.

I appreciate the advice surrounding it, but I'm not interested in any way with working on patrons in the club. Although I can see the $$$ value. I am only interested in servicing the dancers.

Right now I am still in the exploration stage of everything - I'll post up w/ how things pan out.

    to clarify, if i can,......

"As to my license - a client is a client, a patient is a patient, regardless of what they do for a living or how they choose to live their lives. I didn't mean anything about the clients, dancers or other, what i was talking about was if an m.d. at your day job got wind of your working in an adult business, would that be an issue? who knows , maybe nobody cares

personally i think dancers would be great clients, need the service and would be good tippers ; ) lol!

Indeed - I can't see any of the mds I work with having an issue even if they found out. They are more concerned about the care the bodies get than what the bodies do. I know we've had at least three ex-dancers thru surgery and rehab with us. Pole dancing can be hell on the joints even with good maintenance.

^If she's only in the back, there's little chance of her being "outed" at work, but make sure you're allowed to take other clients/booking, just to be safe (might not be an issue at all, IDK)

    and yay for us insomniacs!!!

edit: we posted at the same time, lol.... seems like it'll work for you, and you're already up at this time, so I say go for it

Well, I, for one, would pay good money for an after-work massage by a licensed m.t. (not some sleazy guy trying to take me home for a "massage"). Sadly, I'm in Virginia, and have not found anyone legit who keeps my late hours. But I can't be the only dancer who feels this way, so you might have yourself a good idea there.
