    Default I Love London!

So I LOVE London and while I was last there, I visited a club called Stringfellows.
The club is beautiful and seems to be very busy. Plus the euro to dollar difference is almost double. So that means more money...YAY!! So I spoke to the management and they LOVE Americans!!!!! And wanted me to work there. So the plan was to go to London for a month or so and make some serious money, travel, and come home.
    Has anyone worked there?
Is my plan realistic? Do I need certain liscensing etc..
Anyone interested in going with and being a buddy?

    Best,
    Willow

You do need a work permit if you're not a UK or EU citizen. Or a student visa (which in most cases allows you to work up to 20 hrs/week, but only if you're actually doing higher education in the UK.)

If not, it's difficult. I don't really know of any other ways to work there legally...the only reason I can legally work in the UK is b/c I'm a dual citizen of the US and an EU country (italy).

but i hear you--i love London too.

If you're a student in the UK, it's easy. If you're a student in the US, it's easy - BUNAC, like smartcookie posted. Otherwise, you're basically shit out of luck. They will ask for your work visa.

But, FYI, Stringfellow's isn't THAT great moneywise, unless you're in with the hosts and such. They generally put the girls with seniority into the vip situations where the best money is. As a traveller you'll find it harder to make the really good money. London is EXPENSIVE, so that money won't take you as far there as it does over here.

They have a weekly meeting at Stringfellow's, and if you don't show up for that, you don't work your following shift. Or at least this is the way it used to be.

Basically, if you want to take a European trip and fund it through stripping, you could do that. But don't plan on bringing home a bunch of money after a trip there - your trip expenses and such will eat it up.

Have a look on www.strip-magazine.com where there is a lot of info on Europe in general including stuff on visas. I knew an Israeli girl who came to London to work without a visa 4 years ago and out of Stringfellow's, Secrets, SR etc the only place that actually asked was Browns. It's probably tightened up a bit since then now that CZ, Estonian, Romanian etc girls can work legally.

There are 2 Stringfellow's now and like most London clubs they have too many girls and high house fees. I'd consider the strip pubs as an alternative.

^^They asked me at both Stringfellow's and SR in 2000. But then I'm American with a strong American accent so it'd be a little more obvious I'm not EU or anything, like the OP...

I have heard they've gotten a bit more careful since then too.

Darling, don't even think about it! I am Romanian and have worked in the UK, included London for the past two years. The competition is fierce. There are between 200-250 girls per night in Stringfellows and the Spearmint Rhino, most of whom do SH!T. The rent the last time I checked was 90 pounds per night, that is 250$plus, and there is a very serious possibility that one doesn't even make it. Stringfellows, the Spearmint Rhino and the Windmill all rely on their prestige to trap girls who would give it a try for a couple of weeks, would work hard just to pay the rent and finally would go only to make place for other gullible newbies. Believe me it is the worst crap imaginable in there. There are good clubs in Birmingham and Manchester, but forget about London.
By the way, it's packed with Eastern Europenas who are all gorgeous- especially the Russians. There are hundreds of them.
    Best of luck to you!

Ladies, if you go to london, i am game!! I had thought of this a few months ago and i would love to arrange a trip. If we all go together we can could get a furnished flat for rental.

I am a student in the usa...but i think the paperwork would take a while.

so, as an american student, not studying in london, you can still get w ork visa??

^^LOL me too If you're a US student BUNAC will get you a work visa valid for 6 months. If you're wanting to go live there a few months and work, it could be worth it for the experience. Get a reasonably priced flat or house share and get to work. But plan on NOT bringing any money home to the US.

But seriously girls, London is EXPENSIVE, EXPENSIVE and more EXPENSIVE!!!! And making money there is NOTHING like the US. Not even close. I would strongly advise AGAINST a SW tour of London, unless of course it's just for vacation.

Yall think this is exaggeration. It's not.

London is too stressful and competitive! You guys have it made in the US, why would you leave???

I've worked London twice...it's tough. You don't make money for being hot, or a good hustler, you make money by waiting by the door and being the first to pounce on a guy that walks in, and then pressuring him to spend. It's really not fun, and not the way dancing should be, at least imo.

That's a good discription of most London TD clubs, thats why I always suggest the pubs. Living is expensive in London compared to the rest of the UK but on the other hand it's by far the most interesting city.

And worth visiting, for sure. This is why I suggest spending a few months there working, not just going for a work trip expecting to make a big profit because that's not going to happen. But you can support yourself as a stripper if you go and stay a while. Shit, I'd do it again if I could. I LOVE London!!! Oh, and I like me some English subby boys too

There are 8 clubs in Leeds with another Wildcat due to open in the near future. 4 of them are owned by one company Blue Box. If you were to work there I'd suggest either the Blue or Red Leopard { Blue Box}, the Red Leopard is bigger and has better stage shows but Blue L has the richer clientelle, or Purple Door which is the oldest club. Leeds is booming at the moment but I'd still avoid Buffalo lounge, DV8, Rembrandts, and probaly Blue Coyote.

I have interest in Leeds. I hear about this new club Rembrandt but you say not to work there? What have you hear about this new place? Your information could save me the money from the flight ticket and hotel as Leeds is expensive to stay!!

I don't know much about Rembrandts yet except that some girl posted on another message board that she had gone to look at the place but at 9.30 the bouncer was still locked out as nobody had turned up to open the place ! That does not sound good to me and it's not been open very long so if I was a dancer moving to Leeds I'd try one of the other places first and maybe have a look on my night off. Blue Box has 4 clubs and recruits via an agent called Cherrywest.

Can't really help on money, I suspect it varies quite a lot but Leeds is a pretty prosperous place these days so it should be OK on average.
