    Default Calling all hikers

Any hikers on SW? I love to hike and starting to plan out some hikes in CA. AZ hiking later this year. Idyllwild is first on the list. Glamazon I know you love hiking so chime in.

Tell me about your favorite, why it was cool and where was it?

I wanna go! I love hiking but I have no one to hike with, and I'm scared to hike alone in this area. Too many weirdos around. I love to hike in mountains and forest, and I love to hike barefoot!

My best hike was almost four miles through Waimea Canyon in Hawaii (on the island of Kauai). I did it barefoot and loved every step. The scenery was beautiful and the path was smooth, velvety mud the whole way. It felt wonderful!

I did some wonderful hiking in Tasmania, too. Best hiking in the world overall, is in Tasmania.

Appalachian Trail. Jersey to Maine. Ow. Took some time off work in the spring and lost about 15 pounds while not meaning to. Ow. So freakin beautiful, though.

Does it still count if I wussed out and called home the second I got to Maine?

I like to hike, but I really suck at it. I'm pretty clumsy when it comes to walking on uneven ground for some reason, and every time Mox and I go...it never fails I end up on my ass at some point.

I was going to say...anywhere along the Appalachian Trail. Wow, Jersey to Maine is very impressive! How long did the journey take you? Did you tent the entire way or stay in lodges?

Tent. I cannot tell you how nice it was to have a bed again after those two months. And a real shower! My God, the conveniences of modern living, how I missed you! I think I went home and slept for three days. I have never been in better shape, though.

I should do it again. Who's coming with me? I promise to buy one of those 2-person sleeping bags.

Sierra National Forest (outside of *dreaded* Fresno.) Worth a trip.

awesome. He'd totally get off on that! And I could go be the token jap(jewish americal princess ) of the camping trip, complete with mascara and heels, handing out bottled water and homemade goodies to the real hikers!

I even found a sleeping bag, and it comes with a back pack, how cute! I hope it's big enough

I've just recently gotten into hiking, mainly for the physical aspect. There's a mountain near my house that I do like 3 times a week. (PM me if you want to know where, just in case any weirdos are reading this, don't want them finding me!)

When my sis and her BF were here last week, we went on a 3 hour hike in the Superstition Mountains...it was in Peralta Canyon, the Peralta Canyon Trail. It was magnificent!

I'm just starting to explore and get familiar with stuff around here, so I haven't gotten out much! I'm into short hikes, less than 3 hours. Like I said, I love the physical aspect and substitute hiking for the gym. I'll let you know if I discover any other ones out here that might be of interest.

I'm a huge hiker, love it. I do a lot of short local hikes...haven't done a multiday one in years, I used ot all the time. West Coast Trail maybe this summer.

Appalachian Trail. Jersey to Maine. Ow. Took some time off work in the spring and lost about 15 pounds while not meaning to. Ow. So freakin beautiful, though.
I've always wanted to do the full Appalachian...finding the time though- 4 months!

Hey, you aren't the only JAP here that likes to play hostess!! Can we bunk together in like a huge 12 person tent? We could make it into a two person suite!
