    Broken Glass Fundraiser?

So I have a friend who does marketing, and he suggested I do a fundraiser for my short film. A big event, like the world's longest lapdance marathon or something that would get a lot of publicity and raise money. Part of it takes place in a strip club and the #2 character is a stripper, so something stripping-related would be apropos (and would also attract attention).

I was having trouble thinking of an event, when another friend suggested I do a striptease barefoot on glass. I've glasswalked before; if I can walk on it, I can dance on it. I could use the song "Walking on Broken Glass" or something similar. It would even be fun, and I bet it would damn sure attract money and attention - wouldn't YOU want to see a hot chick stripping barefoot on a pile of broken glass?

So how would I go about organizing this event? I don't have a club right now, so no boss I could ask. I doubt any club would let me dump shitloads of glass on the stage anyway. Does anyone who handles events, like the burlesque ladies here, have any advice as to how I could go about doing this?

wow that would be cool...maybe you could rent a building way ahead of time and start putting fliers up and putting adds in your local "titti bar magazine" or something. put a number where you can be reached for people to "sign up" or 'register' for it. that would be cool, let us know what u decide to do! if u was in atlanta id sure as hell try it!

I was involved in a guiness world record attempt for the most amount of people around the world pole dancing to the same routine for 10 minutes. This was done through my pole dancing school. The money went to cancer research. It's good fun to get lots of people involved and get sponsors.
The owner of my pole dancing school notified media before the event to raise awareness about it - resulting in some corporation donations (always good).

Maybe if you got some other dancers involved and could get the Guiness World Record officials to approve it as an attempt that would help you get some publicity etc.

A contest or something that people can participate in will always get more attention. Maybe a public audition for one of the characters, with an entry fee? Or you could totally auction off something on ebay with your film story.

Getting Guiness involved would be too big a hassle; it takes several months to get approval and paperwork done, and I'm trying to shoot in February before my star/co-producer goes off to work out of town. So with your attempt, how was the money raised? What did people pledge? What did they get in return? I'm not even sure how these fundraisers work, logistically.

Fees to audition would never fly in Los Angeles, and anyway I'm already cast with some really awesome actors. And I don't really have anything to sell. The idea of selling a spectacle is really interesting though, and I have to admit the idea of doing a barefoot glasswalk/striptease sounds like a lot of fun. I've seen a lot of people walk on glass but never dance! I'd want to practice first but I don't see any reason why I couldn't do it.

I was thinking this morning, maybe Playboy might sponsor it.
