when i tried to quit, and when i really FELT like a cig...i jus didnt have one. i let the "feeling pass". tried to think bout somethin else. then later, i thought "hey , i guess i didnt REALLY need a cig after all..."

i also heard somethin bout jus breathing , inhaling and exhaling like you would with a cig..but WITHOUT the cigarette. i heard the breathing you do when u smoke a cig is relaxing...thus, why cigs are relaxing to people. so maybe u cud jus try breathing that way. cuz usually when i got pissed or stressed is when id smoke a cig...so id try that breathing thing and it worked.

well goodluck! also...ur not allowed to smoke cigs in the club anymopre..so that really helped me. id smoke tons of cigs at work! bad habbit! id do it all the time without even thinking! so maybe try not to smoke at work either?

if it gives you more willpower, just remember that most cravings: food, cigs, etc., are said to only last about 12 minutes. So keep that in mind and it will pass

really? I must get super cravings!!! Mine don't go away untill:

    a. I give in (even just a bite of w/ev....)
    b. I get a different craving

I thought this was pretty normal..... guess not. lol

Well, even if you get another craving, it's still a DIFFERENT one, so I suppose it makes sense.

Good luck to you girl... you have way more willpower then me... my cigarettes and weed are what keep me going since im not a drinker lol.

Good luck and keep up the willpower! My friend mentioned suckers and lollypops helped her as it was the oral craving she had.

What works for me is to just say to myself when I have a craving "I really don't want a cigarette" and continue doing whatever I'm doing. If I'm doing nothing, I find something to do to get my mind off of it. Quitting smoking is a really hard thing to do and I applaud you for trying. Th cravings decrease over time, and you'll find it easier. The hardest part is getting used to the first week. It's also helpful to use the patch or nicotine gum so that you're not shocking your body so much which seems to give me headaches from withdrawal symptoms.

    Good luck!

i'm trying to quit right now as well. i decided to throw out my cigarettes, lighters & ashtrays friday night. saturday morning i bought some nicorette & nicotine-free smokes (the brand name is Quest).

not smoking over the weekend was easy. neither of my roomates smoke & we didn't go out. i chewed on toothpicks, took deep breaths, kept my hands busy. saturday i had a few pieces of nicorette & a couple of fake smokes. sunday i had 2 pieces of nicorette & 1 fake smoke.

today i went to work & it was complete hell. i had a couple pieces of nicorette and most of a pack of fake smokes. in the end i caved in and had a real cigarette. dammit.

The only thing that helped me quit was getting pregnant.
Before that, I smoked two packs a day and had very little REAL ambition to stop. I did quit for a month or two once though. I had a very bad chest cold, and I nursed myself better with candy and popcorn.
I gained a lot of weight in both instances.

You just have to find what works for you. My BF ate a lot of crunchy foods, like carrots and apples, when he quit.
    Good luck.

I sucked on cough drops. Then did the pretend inhale. Inhale, exhale, just like you are smoking. It helped a lot, but I still made sure I didn't have any cigs in the house.
