    Lapdance Marathon: Laws & Logistics

I've mentioned it elsewhere, but I think this topic deserves its own thread. Feel free to delete or move it if needed... I didn't really know where to put it.

I'm thinking of raising money for my short by setting an unofficial record for the world's longest lapdance. People will be able to pledge a certain amount per half-hour, and I would shoot for 12 hours with a 15-minute break every three hours. For extra money, pledgers could buy a seat for a length of time and be the person I'm dancing for. My friend who does marketing thinks I stand a really good chance of raising the remaining $3500 of my funding in a single day by doing this.

    My questions -
Since I expect this to be fairly well-publicized, would the law have a problem with it? Where could I find a copy of the L.A. codes so I can make sure I follow all laws to the letter? I was planning on doing bikini dances (totally legal in alcohol environments here), but I would be willing to go topless (not legal in alcohol clubs) or nude (legal as long as there's no alcohol) for extra cash. If the venue is alcohol-free, would there be any restrictions on my doing this? I don't want to get busted for lapdancing for cash in a facility that's not licensed for it or whatever. I'm also looking for a venue; would a club be willing to sponsor this? I could do it in Vegas if that would be better (and I have a license to dance there already).

And is there anything legal or logistic that I'm forgetting?

I'm going to try and do this sometime in the next few weeks, possibly Valentine's Day, although I'd rather do it sooner so I have more time to raise the money other ways just in case the fundraiser doesn't work.

    Tips, answers, advice, anyone?

A VIP is basically just an extended lap dance.

Good idea. First of all, don't do it Valentine's Day....you'd automatically be losing out on a lot of guys that day. Plus, it's a weekday.

I persoanlly feel it'd be best to do this in a club. The best way to find out if they'd take part on it, is to call around and ask. I'm not sure how they'd handle it (money-wise on their end), but it doesn't hurt to ask!

IF you aren't able to get things together by Valentine's Day and/or don't want to do it then due to turnout possibly being affected by the day, then it could also work right into the decadence of Mardi Gras on the 20th. I know, the actual holiday falls on a Tuesday, but it could still be a weekend before/weekend after thing. Or could be tied in to Carnevale festival surrounding it. Just a thought.

I really think this is a GREAT idea! Just make sure you have waivers to make sure you're not liable for heart attacks, cramps, severe cases of blue balls and such.

Well, except for the blue balls, I'll be the only one suffering! I expect to be fairly sore by the time it's all over. I contacted Z-Bone to see if they would help find a venue/sponsor... they'd have better connections with the clubs than I would have. Hopefully they'll get back to me soon!

Do you have the stamina? Otherwise, why don't you just go work in a regular club for a couple of nights and make the money the regular way without shelling more funds for advertising the event?

we had the longest car hold here in Florida years ago. Many people put their hands on a new car at a large dealership, and the one who held their hands or even one hand without ever taking it off won. Well now we can't do this anymore.

People were passing out from exhaustion, needing medical treatment etc. They got breaks too...but. I dunno, check into it.

    Cover your ass first.

    Sounds like fun however.

It would take a LOT more than "a couple of nights" to raise four grand in Los Angeles, especially this time of year. And I have a day job that keeps running late this week, so I haven't had time to find a new strip club and work full shifts every night. Besides, a well-publicized event not only raises money; it also publicizes the film. It was more than a decade ago when Robert Rodriguez raised money for his first movie by selling his body to medical research, and he's STILL milking that. And Michael Moore funded his first movie (Roger & Me) by holding bingo nights. Any publicity is a good thing.

And I'm not planning on paying for publicity. I'll advertise online and through word-of-mouth, and issue press releases. This works for fundraisers all the time.

Pamela, I remember that car thing... argh. Nobody's going to be suffering for this one except me though; I'm thinking 12 hours of lapdancing, with 15-minute bathroom/food breaks every three hours. The customer will change; different people can buy slots of time. I plan on doing the majority of it, if not all of it, barefoot. It'll be strenuous but I can do it.

I just need a venue at this point. Right now I'm looking at February 3, but the date is flexible.

And I'm still curious as to the laws, if anyone has a link.

12 hours of lap dancing with rare 15 min breaks??? Are you working out for this? Do you have a friend you could possibly tag-team with because this just sounds like too much. You won't even be able to walk out of there.

Barefoot, I can do it. When I need to rest my legs and feet, I can always sit on their laps.

Most of the time I'm an assistant director and I spend all my time running around on my feet, and I've got a pretty muscular lower body. I don't see a problem, especially if money's involved. I'm accustomed to hard work and being on my feet for up to 18 hours a day, so a 12-hour lapdance marathon should be doable.

If you don't believe me, take the bet and pledge!

It's a very cute idea! Is your club going to help at all. They should. They could help publicize it a bit. It wold only be in there best interest.

You only need worry about you!!!!

Hope the club will allow and support this. It would be great.

12 hours is very do-able with your breaks! Sure beat the people who kept hands on a new Camaro for THREE days while dropping.

I think 12 hours would be allowed by law. Why not start with City Hall?

Well, like I said, I don't have a club at the moment. My last club fired me in October for having a yeast infection (I know, I know) and I've just been doing the day job since then. The hours at my day job are pretty long, so I don't have time to find a new club and work full shifts every night and still keep up with my career job. I do really need a venue.

I contacted to see if they could help me find a venue and provide some publicity. Hopefully I'll hear back from them. I'd be willing to do this in SoCal or Vegas, either way. I don't know if it would have to be in a strip club or if some other venue would be willing to participate.

Oh i should have read better than i did. I thought you had a club (work)

It would be cool if you could set up a nice spot at a great club like a 'kissing booth' used to set up at carnivals. Maybe do a tad of pay to the house, and keep all the rest of the $$$$$$! Would be cool and stir attention.

Busy club who wants to gain some extra business with this would be great, as guys would love to see what this is all about, and get a ld.

There's that, but OTOH I can see a club not wanting to do it for some chick they don't even know, and I can see their house dancers getting pissed off. I think it would be better if it wasn't in a strip club, though I don't know if the law would allow me to do nude or topless lapdances in a facility that isn't a strip club, especially for money. I don't want to get busted for prostitution just because I didn't file the right paperwork!

The original idea came from a friend of mine who has a marketing company, and he just called my boyfriend to say he has some great idea that would make us $30,000 or so. He wants to meet both of us on Saturday and discuss it. I have no idea what he has in mind, but I'll certainly hear what he has to say! Shit, half that amount would solve all my problems!
