    Default No motivation

Okay so it's that time of year again. And it's especially hard if you work in a smaller club in Wisconsin. My problem is that I'm all pumped up for work on the way there, I'm pumped when I get there, while I'm doing my make-up and hair, and putting on a sexy outfit. Then I go out to the bar and have a drink while I wait for a customer. Well, I end up waiting and waiting and waiting (as all the girls are), so by the time a customer does come in, say an hour and a half later, my motivation is gone. So how the hell do I stay motivated??

    this sounds like my club!!
the other night i was the same as u - all enthusiastic until i walked out on the floor and the only customers were two regulars of other dancers.
so i just went back into the dressing room, made my dinner, ate it rather slowly (enjoyed it) and went back out afterwards.
there isn't much u can do, but do try to distract yourself - take a book even?
just dont sit there and wait or u will get in a shitty mood!!

I have had the same problem, trust me--the DJ is supposed to be upbeat and enthusiastic, whether there's 300 customers in the club, or 3 of them.

A couple hours of the latter, and my ability to pretend I am having fun (so they should too) is out the fucking door--where I'd rather be myself.

Then, towards the end of the night, a bunch of guys will come in and you have to try to snap out of the funk--not always easy to do.

This will often happen in smaller clubs, during off-season in touristy areas, or on the slower nights of the week. Worst of all, of course, is when you get all three combined, lol! I have, and it sucks.

One way of dealing with it is to get the cooler people in the club to get together and try to have fun playing around--if the club rules will allow it.

In a tiny, tax-shelter club in Daytona, whose owner wanted the place to be dead, we used to play on the pole when it was slow, and play all kinds of crazy music. If there were no guys at all there I would join in as well. The dancers always had a lot more fun, even if they were still learning and not doing anything spectacularly well.

If suddenly a bunch of guys showed up, they saw a bunch of dancers onstage laughing and having fun, instead of everyone moping around sulking, including the fucking DJ.

Also, all of the dancers got a lot better on the pole, lol--so they felt more confident when it counted.

I think every club and dancer is going through this universal problem at the moment. I would have to assume it's the time of year despite the weather has been fair, January thru February is a tough time...and Feb only gets worse some say! I'm already looking for a part time day job due to this slump...I'm still hopeful.
