I am going to New York in July to see Dispatch play at Madison Square Garden. I'm staying across the street at the Hotel Pennsylvania. What is the most convenient airport to fly into if going to midtown? JFK, LaGuardia or Newark?

JFK is usually what I fly into when I'm staying on the Island.

I fly into Laguardia..

Depending on where you're flying from, it'll be cheaper for you to go to one vs the other probably.
It's not going to be much of a difference. They're both NYC airports. Then again, Newark is considered an NYC airport but you should NOT fly into there.
Due to traffic conditions surrounding each airport, they are both going to take between 30-50 minutes for you to get to that area. Depending on the time you arrive, it could take less or more time than I quoted.
It really doesn't make a difference which you fly into. Take whichever is cheaper.
I happen to live closer to LaGuardia, so I favor that airport.

I would fly into LGA or EWR. JFK is huge and it isn't in the safest area either.
LaGuardia is the most convenient and usually the most expensive. I'd rather fly into Newark than JFK.

Laguardia would be the most convient choice. JFK is in queens so its teeny bit farther, but its usually cheaper to go there.
Dont bother with Newark unless you've got the time. the money not spent on airfaire will be spent on your cab.
I'm getting my Dial-A-Stripper service up and running again. If you are in NYC or NJ and are interested in private party dancing, email [email protected] with your SW handle, contact info, photo (if you have one) & best time to call and I'll get back to you asap.
If you're having a party and need strippers, email me with the details and any questions you have. Thanks!

Yea, it cost me about $40 from Laguardia to get to Midtown Manhatten. I stayed @ the Doubletree.

I say Laguardia also...hope you get a better room at HP then i did though. The bathroom door wouldent shut, the closet was broken and it smelled like BO really bad..but i had a kickass view of the empire state building so it worked out.
Laguardia has Southwest, so i go through LGA.
I flew into JFK. We were staying at a hotel on 32nd St. in Manhattan and I remember the taxi ride being a LOT shorter than I expected... maybe 20 minutes? JFK is horribly nasty but fuck it, it's not like you're staying there. Just don't use the bathroom there if you can help it.![]()

JFK is the cheapest

JET BLue only flies into JFK. I like LaGuardia better.
I Love Life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The trip was a blast, I also saw String Cheese Incident while I was there.. as far as the thread topic, it was easy and cheap ($2) to get from LaGuardia to midtown... there's a bus, the M60, that goes right to Manhattan and you can connect to any subway line...
and, just to mention it, I wasn't there to do any strip clubbing, but when I was passing by, I did stop into Lace on 7th Ave. for a lap dance... it was fine, but, based on my quick visit, you'd be better to visit here in Montana for strip clubbing than NYC...

Hey, what's with the Newark haters?! Newark has had a train that takes you to midtown for years now. It tends to be the cheapest and you step from plane to train and you get to 33rd and 8th in a flash!
Glad you had a great time though!![]()

none of the above ... try Stewart Airport in Newburgh, then Amtrak to Penn Station. If you're the limo type, the drive time isn't any worse than JFK or LGA while the sun is up anyhow. The only bad aspect is a connection somewhere (usually Detroit or Atlanta or Philly). If you've got your heart set on a non-stop flight, then LaGuardia is the least of the evils. Cheapest fares will probably be Newark, but the bridge and tunnel frustration factor far outweigh the cost savings IMHO.

i know it's an old thread but since we're still giving opinions.
i'd vote la guardia too. i'm not too fond of newark (ewr) to get into ny although it's my obvious choice and preference for going into nj/home.
but i tend to fly in/out of la guardia (lga) for business due to the pricing of the airlines. however, in recent years the bridges and gas costs have evened out the costs between lga and ewr imo.
i only use jfk as a last resort or because my family's preference for china airlines (only available there). jfk's the farthest, most inconvenient, and most expensive ime. even with the shuttle subway they built (which they charge separately for!).
for a manhattan visit for yourself, lga or ewr are the better choices in that order. imo jfk is more for business fly-in's then a leisurely limo drive into the city (it's more impressive and "new york" than the other two for out-of-staters).

LaGuardia is easier because you can easily get on the LIE and that takes you straight into the Midtown Tunnel - you come out around W34th and 2nd Ave.

JFK is far but you will get better deals through there than LGA. Plus, there are less delays, which LGA is the worst at. Cab ride each way from manhattan is between 40 and 50 dollars (I believe 40 being the flat rate going to manhattan), that's without toll and tip. You might get better deals out of EWR but you will pay more since it's 70 each way, without tip.

Don't take a cab from Newark, take the train straight in. Why would you take a cab? The train is faster and cheaper.
