so I'm going in tonight with chipped and peeling nailpolish. I'll post later and let everyone know if any guys noticed or cared. I sometimes think that all the time we spend obsessing over minutae is wasted.

Meh i've gone in with chipped nails, no nail polish.. no fake nails etc... Not once has a guy ever said anything... again though im the girl that has worked with no makeup, hair in a pony tail, booty shorts, tank top and clear heels and made the best money i've ever made...

Some Douchebag: "[Pimp C] 12:43 am: its true we got to stick together the black people on SW CK you is teh condoleeza of SW"
I'd throw another coat over them before I'd wear them chipped. But then, I am VERY anal about the details. It's those little things that bring it all together for me, I couldn't be "Andy" without them.

Really, I've had custys notice it! They seem to love to point it out. But then, I keep 'em bright, red or pink usually, so it must be easy to spot. I slammed one in the car door this morning, ouch!!! But I get them fixed. I can't stand fugly nails. I guess it's b/c I palyed paino and wasn't allowed polish as a little girl, so now, I like em all done up.
I just pulled off all my fake nails and am in the process of growing out my real ones (and trying REALLY hard not to bite them). So they look like crap at the moment. Noone in the club has said anything, noone on set has said anything......makes me think I wasted a lot of money over the yrs at the nail salon!!
People always ask me, did I ever learn anything when I was a stripper? Yeah, I did. One man plus two beers equals 20 dollars.

I dont even polish my nails. Just keep em clean and filed. Always works for me. I only had twice a guy tell me he wishes I had fake nails. One even gave me an extra $20 to get em done.
Or just do what Andygirl does and give one coat. Guys shouldnt be looking at your hands in the dim lighting anyways. Im sure those are the least thing that gets them going in the mood for dances.

If I had a nail issue, Id just throw on some long satin gloves. But I played up the dramatic, old hollywood look, so it worked.
I never ever polish my nails, keep em clipped short, and worked the last 3 weeks with chipped and peeling toenail polish. (Shit, maybe that's why I've been doing badly!)
Honestly, I don't think it matters. I'll randomly wear fake nails, and don't find it does anything for my bottom line.

Yeah, I've done it too. I don't really know how much the details really matter either. It seems I can go ten pounds either way, have fugly hair and makeup (I REALLY didn't know how to do my hair or makeup when I first started), but still do well sometimes. And I've seen girls with body odour even I can smell sell dances reasonably well. So, uhm, I don't know what conclusions to draw from that. Being pulled together helps my own confidence though.
ETA I also ditched my fake nails, and it hasn't made a spot of difference.

My nails are usually short and chipped...I'll touch them up if they are revolting. Other than that...meh. Whatever guys botherin lookin at my nails prolly isn't interested in dances anywho.

I have my acrylic nails off at the moment, but a lot of customers do actually notice your nails. I didn't think that they would, but I've had a lot of customers tell me I had pretty nails when I had my acrylics on. But, I agree with those who said getting your nails done doesn't significantly increase your money. I've gone to work with acrylics on and I've gone to work with shitty looking nails (chipped nail polish, short, sloppy looking, etc.) There was no difference in my money at all. However, I do like to get mine done because I feel more glamorous and done-up with acrylics on.
I've heard lots of lame excuses from guys why they don't want a dance, but I've never had one say, "I don't want a dance from you because I don't like the way your nails look."![]()

Fingernails don't seem to matter at all. For some reason, tho, toenails are very very important. Of course, not many people get up close and personal with your toes, so a couple chips aren't that noticable.
And it seems like toenail polish lasts forever. I've polished my fingernails 4 times since the last time my toes needed anything.
But I get these gross callouses on my feet that I use a shaver on. The I use sloughing lotion and a foot file. I am a tad bit obsessive when it comes to.....well, everything, haha.

Okay. I have now conducted my own informal survey - I must come down on the side of the girls who say it doesn't make a difference. I want to have acrylics put on and then trimmed really short (I type a lot; actual nails would be a hinderance) because it is the only thing that has helped me stop biting my nails and cuticles. But, I don't think that is going to happen today.

I hate not having my nails done for work. I am never one for the plastic nail deal just a regualr amicure/pedicure is fine with me. If you can't or don't have the money for that. Just put some clear nail polish on and don't have skin or nails hanging. Who is looking at your nails anyway????? This is a girl thing.
I Love Life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I gave up on acrylic and gel after all the damage they caused. Now I get regular manicures and I wear them pretty short.
I don't think men care about nails. Well, as long as they're not nasty.
When I have nail problems, I always have a spare package of the glue on kind (by Revlon, and theres another but i forget the brand) The way they are made , I can't tell the difference b/t them and getting acrylics. Thay are like 6 bucks and usually last a week, but they dont damage your nails. I get the natural length, super short and I get compliments on them all the time.

Ehh, I've been wearing my nails short and natural for a few years now and it doesn't seem to make a difference. If anything it's good because whenever guys ask me what I "do" and I mention my website, spending alot of time online, etc they tend to believe it more after seeing my nails. HA! Some even say something to that effect.
I just trim and file my nails into shape once a week or so and let that be that. I also use Burt's Bees cuticle cream on them daily, but I just do that while I'm sitting at a stoplight in the car.
I used to have guys ask me why I didn't have my nails "done" in TX, but I think that was a local/era thing.
I don't think it makes much difference to anyone but you, as long as your hands look neat and not all raggedy.
Agreed with Lena that PEDICURES seem to be much more important. It's that "if she can't take care of her feet, she prolly doesn't take care of the rest", thing.
I will confess to noticing a girl's nails fairly soon after expressing interest. They don't have to be fake or painted or anything, but they have to be in good shape, and I always let her know if they're looking nice.

Glamour did a poll about "what men notice most about you".
Our finger nails got mentioned ALOT! I never would have thought. I would think hands, but hell our nails are at the tips of our hands. I mean when your out and see a pretty woman and then see her nails all chipped, doesn't it look kinda "not done"? I always notice nails.
I think men notice nails more outside of the club because they can see them in different light (not just semi-darkness) and there isn't a naked body distracted them from focusing on this part. I know my man alway notices my nails and loves it when I get a fresh manicure. Then again, my man always notices the little things I do to myself.
I have disgusting nails. Like, even I think so. I bite them, and I bite the cuticles. I can't stop. I'm weak. So, guys who have a thing for nails aren't going to like me in the first place, regardless of whether my nailpolish is peeling or not; that is one weakness of my informal survey. My control group is limited in that way.

I usually just rub oil into my fingernails & try to keep them clean cause I'm lazy. No one's ever said anything. But I got my first pedicure ever on Tuesday and I can't get over how cute my feet look!
Sorry, Jenny; you're not going to drive me off that easily.I have disgusting nails. Like, even I think so. I bite them, and I bite the cuticles. I can't stop. I'm weak.
