In a pm i told you to check them out. Glad you got hired. You will work your ass off texting as many say. They are known to pay however.

I worked for them briefly. Yes they will pay you but as Pamela said you will have to type your ass off. The faster you type the better. I type around 85 wpm. In the end I left the job because it wasn't worth the amount of time I put in to receive such a small amount of money. To put it into perspective, a texting job provides gas money, maybe grocery money. But it is very difficult to earn a living on it, IMHO.

I'd like to get some more info on this. I'm looking for something to supplement my dancing income. I'm pretty fast at text messaging, so sending out a lot of texts is not a problem. If anyone has more info regarding what exactly you do or how much it pays, please PM me or respond here. Thanks!

I always thought it seemed like 'sucky' work.

Basically it works like this; the person you're chatting with is on a mobile phone. You're at home using your computer and signed into a chat application. You're paid less than 10 cents a text, and all texts must be a certain amount of characters. So messages like "LOL!" won't count. You could be chatting with someone from the US or Europe, but mostly people outside the country. All chatting is in English though. What I didn't like about the work was that you are expected to hold conversations with multiple people at the same time and stay on topic, even if you have to pick up where another "text op" left off. You also have to pretend that you reside in the same place as the person on the other end which is very difficult if you don't know geography well.

I don't recommend this type of work. You have to put in a lot of hours for very little money. You could waitress one night a week and make as much as you could texting in 1 or 2 weeks. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

You know what, I actually like to type! So I thought this job was perfect for me. WRONG! I think the first month I earned enough to pay my cell phone bill and that was enough for me! Now I understand why the turnover is so high.

Thanks for the info. Do you have to have access to a computer at all times? Sometimes I'm out of town working for a week or two and don't have Internet access-is that going to be a problem?

It's been awhile since I worked for them but during my stint as a text op you had to put in a minimum amount of hours per week, so I imagine if you were gone for a week or longer it might present a problem.

I've been working for text121 for about 2 weeks now and I think I'm going to quit after this month. The job itself isn't too bad, except it is slightly annoying when I'm talking to someone from another country. I have to pretend to be from that country, even if I know nothing about it. It's just that the pay isn't very good and they expect you to put a lot of time into it and the pay just isn't worth it. Does anybody know any similar companies where you get paid better? You can PM me if you don't want to say in this thread. Thanks in advance for your help.

Okay, I've been working for text121 for a few weeks now and it's actually not so bad. But there are things about it that drive me crazy, and people who have worked for them before can probably identify with me here! These are the things I don't like:

-When I'm talking to someone from England or Australia and I have to pretend I'm from there-I know absolutely nothing about England or Australia!
-When none of the other chat operators bother to update the person's name, age, interests, etc and I have to waste time and scroll through all the old messages to find this stuff out
-When one of the other chat operators says something stupid and/or pisses the customer off and I'm the one who has to deal with it and try to smooth things over.

Other than that, it's not so bad. I wish the pay was more, but I kind of like the job itself.

Can someone PM me about working for this company? How do you get hired, what is the pay like, etc? Like PhillyDancer said, I'm online enough--might as well get paid to do it.
    Thanks!

2000 texts is about $150. You get less than 10 cents per text. I worked for them a little over a month and only made about $125. It depends on how busy they are.
