Default What do I do about these huge thigh muscles??

Alright, I did a search first so forgive me if this has been covered in the past...
I know it may sound sort of silly.

I have been dancing again for about 7 months and I am working at a club where we have to do a ton of stage rotations. Just the other night there were so few girls that between lap dances and stage rotations, I danced to 61 songs! My problem is that my thigh muscles are getting gigantic from all of the activity. I am
5'7", weigh 122lbs, but am getting ginormous muscles in these thighs and I don't know what to do to prevent them from getting bigger and bigger. They are solid with not much fat left, but they are HUGE!

Is there anything I can do? I don't want bodybuilder-looking legs! I just want smaller legs. Period.

I would love to know the answer to this too. No matter how much weight I lose, my legs and thighs stay thick. When I work out, they get even more muscular. Does anyone know what to do?

Strong legs are very attractive, don't be down on your self, very purposeful.

^^^^ see, I think so too. Men love sexy strong legs. That is a sign that you're working hard, not hardly working

Alot of men like a girl with strong legs. In fact I'd say the majority don't like skinny legs so much.

Anyway, if you're getting that much muscle from the exercise, you're just prone to it and there's really nothing you can do about it. Might as well embrace it and love it! You'll attract men who like it, that's all

    ^ Agreed.

Skinny legs are bad. Nothing feminine about them, especially if they don't make a complete ass out of themselves at the top.

A little more muscle is better than not enough muscle.

I always joke I have wrestlers thighs. I was a gymnast for 9 years and then tossed 3 years of dancing on top of that. I have really muscular legs and I luv em! Men do too. I wouldn't sweat it.

I love my "skull crushers". I always get complemented on my powerful legs. Anyhoo, back to the question, quick sprints will chisel the muscle down while still keeping them strong.

Thick muscular legs are hot. Thick fat legs are not.

I think most men would choose thick shapely legs over skinny straight ones.

Can I join the club? I have muscular legs that I am self concious of. I have been an athlete my whole life. I love exercising, so oh well. I get so many complements on my legs and my athletic stage show. When a customer complements me about my legs sometimes I tell them that I am self concious. They just think that I am crazy and that my legs are sexy.

I think Botox would work but it's going to be very expensive and there are not too many docs who offer this service.

    Um.

Doesn't Botox work by parlyzing the muscle?

Wouldn't that, oh I dunno, make it hard to walk?

Long distance running. You'll keep the toned look, but muscle developed from this activity is smaller because of it's purpose.

I'm sure your legs look great as is though. But I have the same problem, so I understand.

i have the same problem!! I just got a fluidity (www.fluidity.com) ballet bar because it is supposed to help tone without size.

I think the shoes contribute to the muscle because it is so hard to stay on them all night!

If you are 5'7 and 122 you must be pretty lean so i wouldnt sweat it...

^^^ In Brazil they say a woman should be shaped like a guitar, as opposed to the hourglass (anorexic hourglass) that is the American ideal.

try yoga and pilates, the streaching motion helps lengthen the muscle while keeping it strong

I figure skated for 15 years and after had to wear guys jeans to go round the thigh area. A combo of ballet, yoga and pilates helped pull down the size while keeping strong

I have the same prob... I found when I wore lighter shoes (I wear traditional dancing pumps), they weren't quite as pronounced... but I will always have muscular thighs... can't change genetics.

enjoy your body and even point it out to guys let them feel your hard legs. These girls are right. Confidence and signs of a healthy body is a turn on. 5'7" 122lbs is a great height size proportion so we know you can't be chunky. There are plenty of girls that want to trade with you right now.

ahhh, i have the exact same problem! I build muscle really really fast (esp in my legs) and I get so frustrated because enough is enough already! The only thing that has kind of helped (maybe) is doing pilates because it is supposed to 're-train' your muscles to develop differently (so they look less bulky). Other than that, I think the only hope for us is to embrace our legs and just be glad it's muscle and not cellulite! Good luck though, if you find any miracle way to stop muscle growth be sure to post it!

Mind if I jump in here? I was going to suggest Callanetics... It's going to be a lot like Fluidity, only you can buy the tapes cheap on Amazon, and use a chair or sofa, or whatever.. {Altho I'd love to have the Fluidity bar} I have all the Callanetics tapes, and use a metal, folding sawhorse, as my bar...

They will give you a longer, leaner, more dancer body.. You'll probably still have some issues with the things being built up, just because of your dancing, but it'll help you look not as 'huge'... I say this from experience... I've dealt with the ginormus thighs for a long time, and hate them.. I love the way Callentics has helped that.. Not exactly what I'd like them to be, but since I got them all musceled up, not sure anything will get them to look exactly like I'd like...

One thing, the tapes were made in the 80's, so the lovely tights, et all, will crack you up...
