    Default Mouth Breather

Wasn't sure where to put this so I guess general.

My fiance breathes through his mouth--Apparantly he had some illness or whatever, he says, that makes him unable to breathe through his nose.

Not really a big deal, I've gotten over it and it helps that he's cute, haha, but...

...It is impossible getting to sleep every night. He rarely snores but he breathes SO LOUD that it's REALLY aggrivating. I'm actually missing work from being unable to get ANY sleep.

It's consistently worse in the winter months, hence I am bitching now. I can't play music to sleep to because it will keep me (and him) awake. His mom got me some thing that plays like, waterfalls and rain and shit but it keeps me awake and annoys me. I don't really want to sleep on the couch and sometimes we have friends crash here so it isn't always an option anyway. I can't take sleeping pills because I am on Requip.

    Any ideas?!

My guy has the exact same problem. I know it's so hard to sleep! What I did to alleviate that problem was kick him out of my bedroom. He has his own room and sleeps in there. I feel your pain! I also take Xanax before bed to help knock me out but lately those haven't even been helping. I sleep with a fan on for background noise. Why don't you make him sleep on the couch? You're not the one with the breathing problem so why must you suffer?

I have asthma and can't breathe out of my nose so mine is terrible. When I sleep with someone their solution is usually...to put a pillow over my head.

Could you sleep with another sound? One of those sleepy cd type things maybe?

I can't breathe very well through my nose. This is actually why I frequently have the appearance of a slack jawed yokel - sitting around with my mouth hanging open. I have have difficulty even chewing with my mouth closed. So be glad.

My Husband has the same problem. It basically comes down to his allergies. It's really only noticeable to me in the morning. I joke with him all the time and tell him he sounds like Darth Vader. He's a major snorer too. But, I haven't slept in the same bed with him in about 2 years, so it doesn't bother me anymore.. LOL

i made my man go to a sleep clinic so they could diagnose his problem.. he know sleeps with a breathing machine.... eventually once he wears it nightly he won't have any problems... i hope it works.

I might try the earplugs and the fan in the background.

LOL I showed my fiance this thread and he says to Kamyrn, "Doesn't the breathing machine make more noise than his breathing?!"

I'm a mouth breather... I have allergies, and I have troubles at night as it is, but when I do sleep, I snore, I drive my hubby nuts if he's awake, sometimes he will wake me up and tell me to shut up! LOL

I don't know what to tell you.. other than it is a common problem, maybe have him go to a sleep study to make sure he doesnt' have apnea?
