There's a conspiracy in there, somewhere.
My latest conspiracy theory: I am convinced that Dick Cheney is, in reality, Elmer Fudd.

Could be, but it's not that hard to commit a perfect murder if you really think about it. People think murder is one of those things where you always get found out, take BTK for an example. If you're smart enough you could kill 5 people a day for the rest of your life and get away with it.

Very true... but these murders also happened before modern technology... I mean now they can tell if you were in a room by taking a sample of air lol... ok maybe not that crazy but still... its a lot harder to commit a perfect murder now then it was then.

It is probably someone no one has ever heard of. We just make suspicions about people who know about because it is hard to suspect the unknown.

I also think the killer was killed in an accident or got put away for something else. (I would lay odds on accident - or chose the wrong person to confront one day.)

Today's forensics are certainly light years ahead of those that are what - close to thirty years old now?!?! BTK did his same BS taunting the police only this time the tech was there to nab his ass.

The Zodiac was very much a part of my early childhood. The lake at which the college kids were attacked is in Napa County and the lead investigator for the sheriff's dept. lived across the street and were probably my parents closest friends. I was only 5 or 6 but remember being very aware of the shadow he cast across the Bay Area.

I read the Graysmith book in the mid 80's when I was living with a friend who worked swing shift. A couple of times I found myself a little freaked out by the little kid fears certain passages in the book elicited.

My father would come home from work every night, make himself a highball and we'd watch the evening news. Between the Tate-LaBianca (Manson) murders(Aug. 69) the local Zodiac event (Sept. 69), and nightly reports of some army called the Black Panthers down in Oakland, I was pretty sure everyone was eventually going to be murdered.
