    Default Tanning bed ???

Ok i have been thinking of going to a tanning salon ( i know some cringe to this idea) i need some info from people who know about the effects of tanning bed tans on stretch marks.. i have quite a few on my belly and a few on hips and lower back i would like to know if a tanning bed tan masks these or will it make them look worse.. mine are old and white in color they do blend in color but i am losing weight and there are some that are still wide and long somewhat wrinkly looking will a tanning bed damage this area more and make so they wont shrink down or do they not shrink anyways ( i am clueless on this) or will it not effect the marks at all..does it tan them along with the undamaged skin or more or less? I would keep applying lotion often to these areas i use the jergens skin firming lotion with seaweed it seems to hydrate well. Please any info appreciated.. i have thought of tan in a bottle but i do dry skin brushing and i think it would make scratch marks in the tan and i think it would be a pita to apply every few days and i wouldnt be able to get it in hard to reach area.. back, etc..

i have heard that stretch marks don't tan, and they kind of show more when the rest of your skin is tanned and they are white. what i do is tan on a tanning bed to get an all over tan (i use exfoliating mitts in the shower that leave me with the big marks you were talking about when i use fake tan) then use sally hansen airbrush legs on the areas where my stretchmarks are.

I miss tanning. I don't dance if I am pale. I glow under the black lights. And so do awful tan lines.

Ok, so stretch marks don't tan? Dang. Is getting airbrushed or spray tanned a better choice then?

Oh, and along the lines of tans etc, Pink, since you airbrush your stretch marks, do you know what would be the best way to shave an airbrushed area without scraping off the dyes?

Stretch marks===micro dermabrasion---talk to a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon.
But in the mean time use Derma Blend. Tanning will make your stretch marks more apparent...

Mine too. My stretch marks look horrid when I don't tan.

Then stop tanning and ruining your skin. Use Dermablend and talk to a dermatologist.
That's my advice, though I have never given birth.

I have dark pink stretchmarks on my hip bones from puberty. I think they are more apparent when I am not tanned because of the contrast between the marks and my natural pale white skin tone. For me, tanning seems to camouflage the marks because of the contrast in hue. Obviously this will vary from person to person, depending on your skintone and the color/intensity of your stretchmarks. From what I understand, stretchmarks are basically scars and do not "tan" or change pigment due to a temporary increase in melanin production.

I have some light ones on my hips from when I hit puberty... I think tanning makes them a little less noticeable... but there's not a huge difference.

I have the kind the OP was talking about, whiter than my normal skin and when I tan they do seem to stand out more, unless I use the Super tanning bed, I think it tans deeper layers of skin.

I do EXACTLY what pinkpvc does, and it works great. I'm not crazy about Dermablend because of the texture. My skin feels and looks more "real" with the Sally Hansen's stuff.
And a trick I learned, probably isn't new, but I like it....after spraying on the Sally's I wait a few minutes later and use a spray gel and msit it over top. It seems to make it last so much longer.

I tried doing the Mystic Tan, it DOES NOT stick to stretch marks (that's the booth you stand in and it sprays you with tan). A day later I was tan and they were GLOWING white. Blech!
