Thumbs down Our Pole is Breaking!!!!!!!

AAAAAACCCCKKK The good ole' brass pole (not attached to ceiling- I'm gonna say it's 7" tall?) at my club is falling down... It is seriously the Leaning Pole of Persia.

Which especially sucks because I do a lot of pole tricks, and I am not amazing when it comes to floor work. I'm super-flexible, very strong, but not that graceful. So pole-tricks are great for me to impress people (and myself) and hide the fact that I can't move my butt and legs around like a cat in heat.

The pole has always had about an inch give side-to-side, but starting Thursday night (today is Sunday) it got reallyy bad- I dunno what happened, but when I came to work Friday (I work Fri, Sat, Sun and walk in some days during the week) it was super-rickety and has gotten progressively worse with each day... now one can move it in its' base in a 4-inch circumference. blahhh.... I am seriously afraid that it is going to fall. If they do not repair it this week I am coming to work super-early Friday and working on floor-moves because I am NOT cracking my skull open on that thing... If I get injured it's going to be on my motorcycle, not on a damn strippers' pole.... and it's not like we get workers' comp, either!!!!! I went to a nearby Hustler last night with a bunch of friends, and watched those ultra-tall aluminum spinning poles (well-bolted down, very safe, and clean-looking!!!!) and was SOOOOOOOO supremely envious!!!) My club has so much money flowing through it it's ridiculous... you'd think they could spend just a WEE bit on re-bolting the pole and repairing the wood on the small stage (which is also beginning to tear).

    Oy ga-fucking-vult.

lol, the things ppl cheap out on. well, be safe. you can't very well go on disability lol (unless you are uber honest with what you make and even then i wonder). you'd think they'd care enough to make the club look better.. maybe you could hint to some bigwig about that? say a custy mentioned that it didn't look so good for "all the money he spends". could help and not make you look too bad for speaking your mind if the bigwig disagrees.

    Love it!

i'm super-honest about what I make- (ha I just sent out 2500 in taxes- ick.) we've all complained... but they're stingy... I guess it's best just to stay off the pole. No disability because a.) we're independent contractors and we sign waivers when we start working, and b) we work way less than 40 hrs a week. My club is smart. They'll take care of it... eventually... but you're right about they customer angle... there are a lot of terrific regulars that carry a lot of pull with management, perhaps getting one of them to talk about it may help. Good idea, thank you Chrissy!!!!

Yeah, I agree with Chrissy68, when customers mention the shoddy poles, tell them to talk to mgmt.
This happened at a club I worked at and when I talked to the mgr he told me to find out how much it costs! HA! It's sad they really don't understand what a good pole will do for the girls' performances.
I pray it never falls down in the middle of a show for a girl. How dangerous.

The pole on our main stage broke in half about 4 feet from the ground and it's connected to the floor and and the ceiling!

We still can't figure out how the hell it just broke in half. Happened on dayshift and nobody will own up to it. I know I know, enter your fat-dayshift-dancer-joke here... haha but seriously we don't even have any big girls on dayshift.

I just want to know how you break a freakin' brass pole clean in half like that, amazing!

    Anyway

Sorry your management is that cheap, besides being dangerous that's gotta look horrible too

Managers are lazy. They don't know how important the pole is. At my club, one pole is an axle from an 18 wheeeler! No joke! You'd never guess because it looks like a real pole, but it's so slippery you can't climb it. The other is this fiber optic piece of crap. The manager didn't get it until I explained it to him. So I volunteered to make calls and have the poles replaced! So I'm working on that at the moment :-/ I should get free tip out for a week!

... Now ThAT is crazy. actually breaking in half- I suppose a better title for my pole would have been "come unbolted from the floor," as it is just stuck in the ground and I feel like I can shake the thing up and down, but to actually have a floor-length pole that BrOKE at the middle- EEEEp!!

Yeah, I have no idea what started this thing moving either.... there are a few bigger girls at my club (proportionate though, and beautiful- TALL as hell as well as curvy... one of 'em rides a SUPERBIKE!! ... anyway) but obviously since the pole is only 7" tall they don't do pole tricks.... the ceiling is short, too... I am 5"3, with heels about 6", and I can touch the ceiling on stage, so if the taller girls did tricks their heels would bust through the paper-mache looking roof. ha. so I have no idea how the pole started moving ..."out of its socket." I just wish they would pop it back into place.... and soon...

Maybe it was a very large auditionee from a topless club (where pole tricks are much more predominant). hmmmmmm.

I'd be so angry I'd find a way to topple it so they'd HAVE TO fix it (I make most of my stage tips from pole tricks.)

If they have to fix it SOMETIME they might as well upgrade to a taller pole, or even a set of 2 or 3...it drives me nuts how managerial laziness leads to profit loss in the SC business.

The pole at my old club was coming unbolted from the ceiling so they said they'd fix it. I think they re-drew the holes in the exact same spot, because it was still loose.

Don't count on them fixing it unless someone gets hurt

    Call OSHA!

Or print out a nicely written letter to the management about how important the pole is to your stage performances and the image of the club, ask nicely for a new one ASAP, thank them for running such a nice club, and have everyone sign it. Call contractors and find out who can install a stripper pole, and list those numbers on the letter.

Lol when ours first broke they pulled the same shit except with that silver/metal aluminum tape stuff that held for about 2 hours. Where it snapped meant that the wad of aluminum tape was right at eye level for anybody standing at the stage.

We have a great management team tho, ours was replaced in 2 days.

    Masking tape.. that is funny!

Masking tape? WTF. Masking tape won't even hold a photo to the wall for very long, much less hold up a pole. What dumbasses. Your club is NOT Jumbo's Clown Room, for heaven's sake! And even Jumbo's used duct tape.

HAHAHA! People've been complaining about that pole for AT LEAST 5 years. Good luck!

Speaking of which - every single one of them complained to the management - which is actually female - and she did nothing about it. Couldn't care.

I KNOW!!! which is why I don't think a letter would help- good idea, but we're not quite a union.... every woman for herself, and when there are only a few on dayshift who do poletricks ANYway.... the custy thing might work, but i doubt it.

i agree with the "they'll fix it when someone gets hurt." as long as the club isn't losing money over it, they really have no incentive, do they? it's not like customers are leaving or the girls are going on strike. and LM- it got REALLY bad when I posted this. I know what you mean about the pole complaints... it's always had a bit of give every which way but it was more a quirk than a safety issue. The four-inch circumference in which I can now move it in its base is new... again, this only happened about a week ago, still wondering how. ... gonna try to get there early tomorrow to work on floor moves...
