    Default Support hose

Has anyone ever danced wearing knee or thing-high support hose (compression hose...the kind for varicose veins) instead of regular nylons?

Just an idea I had...I don't know what they look like on, but in the box they just look like thicker nylons. Might be a good idea for varicose vein prevention?

I wore pregnancy support hose during my pregnancy with my son to prevent varicose veins (I was on my feet a lot), so I can honestly tell you they are ugly. They look real thick, almost like skin colored tights.

    From a totally non-dancer POV:

At the pharmacy I worked at there was a brand called Sigvaris and they actually didn't look too bad in the way of texture.

They are thicker than regular tights so Iwould imagine that using them as coloured 'knee socks' or maybe flesh toned ones under a different stocking would work. But I'm not too sure.

They should have a display with the little samples of all of the colours and textures in the store. Also someone can help you fit them and teach you how to put them on properly (it is a bit different than regular sstockings).

We did a training course with that company and all got to try them. They make a surprising difference in how fast your feet and legs get tired.

^ ya, I was looking at black ones, and thinking they'd be cute as knee socks ( I wear knee socks under my boots anyways, and with schoolgirl outfits).

I might try it...they're kind expensive ($27 or something), but if it helps with fatigue, probably worth it.

When I went to the training I was like "Uhh it is just nylons... it can't make that much of a difference," but it really does. We always wore them at work and on the days they were in the wash and I wore regular socks I could tell the difference.

It might be worth while. Also I'm not sure if you have insurance coverage from another job or something... but usually they can be claimed if you get a prescription.

My ex-husband and I both wore them on the flight when we went to Australia, to combat the possibility of deep-vein thrombosis. Yes, he wore them too, under his pants. They were hot and not very comfortable, and he took his off in Malaysia, and the smell almost knocked me over from across the room! Two-day-old sweaty ballsack in non-breathable nylon... seriously, I was all the way across the room and my eyes watered, and I retched. I can't ever put those things in the same category as "sexy" ever again.
