Arrow Private Dancers License.... dont know ...Help

Hi ladies, Im very interested in private dancing outside the club and I dont want to start a business or anything I just want to dance myself however, I need to know the laws for nyc. I dont want to be with an agency and Im thinkin I could get my potential clients from my future club. I really need to know if this is illegal or what licenses I would have to get so on. Im interested in bachelors parties and private 1 on 1 sessions with of course security. I would also like tips for what to advertise on my website, business cards, panphelts such as prices and stuff. The last thing I want to do is get busted by cops for something so I really would like to do things the right way. Im now on page 7 in the private dancing section. Any advice would be appreciated.

Meeting clients inside a club then meeting them outside, well that is classed as prostitution even if you are not going to sleep with them/give extras

Joining an agency is the best way to get yourself in to the private party scene as they have the contacts with the parties (and the bucks parties call them to organize the parties)

Website Tips: Nice colours that match your personality, keep away from too much black, but dont use too much white. Use contrasting colours. Visit some sites and get the idaas you like, and make a site with all the good features.

Becareful giving your number out, as an agency I still get weirdo's calling @ stupid hours of the morning...

I dont know the US laws, but I am sure Brigitte will explain them!

CASSIE- BE CAREFUL ! You are playing with fire on a number of levels. First, you are not an experienced dancer. It's not required to do "privates", but it helps. It takes time to learn how to read people and get a feel for whether or not a particular scene is safe or potentially a problem. Second, "recruiting" custies at the club where you're dancing MUST be handled very delicately and discreetly. If mgt.
finds out you'll be fired. In extreme cases "taught a lesson"- rare, but it happens. Deal ONLY with solid regulars you've gotten to know and are reasonably sure are cool and won't rat you out to mgt. or OTHER DANCERS !
The cattiness and backstabbing at some clubs is out of control. Knowledge =power and it can and will be used against you by jealous colleagues or mgt. "spies". Having a web-site is fine so long as you don't give out the address to just any Tom, Dick or Harry. Anyone can look at a web-site- mgt., other dancers, creeps, LE !- get the picture.
My suggestion would be shelve the idea temporarily until you get all your ducks in a row. You might be able to glean info from your fellow dancers about private party opportunities.
Security is a must. I've heard more than my share about unpleasant experiences (fortunately nothing TOO dramatic) from dancers who did bachelor parties or delivered "stripper-grams" solo or with just another dancer. They learned the hard way ( the kickboxing classes were great exercise but not really all that helpful for "real" self defense ; the pepper spray isn't too helpful when it's in your purse or coat pocket 30 feet away.) Have an "intimidator" with you ( a little industry jargon ). The bigger the better. Sponsored parties usually have their own door & floor security who'll look after you. Make sure ! Ask to have them pointed out to you BEFORE you start entertaining so you'll KNOW who to go to for help should the need arise.
Just a bit of semi-parental advice- try to be a little bit patient. It usually takes time and effort to really make the BIG money. Watch, listen and LEARN as much as possible.
Lastly, not to quibble with Mild2Wild but in N.Y. just dancing at a private party or even 1 on 1 is NOT prostitution per se. It could be depending on what you do.
    Good luck and be careful.

Eric I will definetly take my time to learn the ropes and so forth. Im not eager to just jump into the whole private dancing thing yet. I stick with the 5 p's motto. Proper preperation prevents poor performance. I call this preperation.
However now Im a little confused as to what police will say is prostitution in Nyc. If I ever did decide to dance independently, could I be hit be that charge?

    The "5 P's" is a great rule.
"Sexual contact" in exchange for money is generally considered to be prostitution. Depending on how rabid they are, LE could bust you for little more than oral-mammary contact for money. Just dancing nude is definitely NOT . The bottom line is BE CAREFUL. Assume every custie is LE until you are sure he is not. Obviously, the less you do at a PP, the less risk of a bust.
Avoid drugs and druggies and if drugs are present; I'd bail out. 90 % of prostie busts in NYC that are really taken seriously have some drug element attached.

I've said this before- I'm seeing more and more drugs in clubs and I honestly don't get why mgt. is tolerating it. When I ran a club I was ZERO TOLERANCE ! Before I sold my little security agency I was ZERO TOLERANCE ! I'll never forget the time I was watching over a high-roller and his fashion model girlfriend and they started ripping lines in the backseat ! I told him 1 of 2 things were about to "permanently disappear" - his junk OR me and my partner. He made the mistake of giving me an argument so I had the driver pull over and my partner and I got out and walked away. And when he called the next day demanding a refund I told him to do something that for most people is physically impossible.
Think ahead. Envision the "worst case scenario" and take steps to avoid it.

I read in an old thread that someone was asked for there license while performing at a pp by a police officer. If she didnt have it she would've been arrested. I dont know whether she did contact dances or not. I would never have sex or do anything that would have him release. However I wouldn't mind contact lapdances (grinding, light touching) at their place. With security around of course.

CASSIE- WHERE did this "License issue" occur? NY and NJ do NOT require any sort of "dancer's license" as Vegas does, for instance. You MIGHT have to prove you're at least 18 ; 21 if you're drinking for which a DRIVER'S license would be handy. You might have to show you're a U.S. citizen or legal resident for which you'd have to show a visa or Green Card. Other than that, I'm clueless.

^^^ business registration - a DBA or LLC filing and a city 'vendor's' license IS arguably required in the NYC limits if you wish to lend 'legitimacy' to your working as a private dancer without an agency fronting for you. Without such 'legitimacy' or without an agency fronting for you, you're wide open for a Prostitution charge if a bust ever takes place.

If what you were saying were true in my part of the US, my grilfriend and at least half a dozen of her friends would be in serious legal trouble. However, in each case there was a delay of months or even years for those girls who actually meant to meet me outside the club -- and the girls who saw me outside the club after seeing me only once or twice inside the club were seriously surprised to do so, as was I.

In any case -- for personal comfort, you really need to consider whether you want to let somebody you met in a strip club cross the OTC/ITC boundary. Whatever the consequences of doing so are in Australia, Americans must mostly face their own personal limits.

Okay, first of all, I think it's a terrible idea to go straight into private parties. If you want to become a dancer, the absolute best thing you can do is START IN A CLUB!!!

In a club, it's your turf. You're protected, they play by your rules. As an entertainer at private parties, you need a number of skills.

    - You need to know how to dance and perform.
    - You need to know how to entertain a crowd, remember that these guys pay a LOT of money to have you at their party, they want a good show.
    - You need to know how to deal with drunk men.
    - You need to know how to defuse a potentially dangerous situation.

Even though you have your rules and most guys abide by them, you're going into their territory, and you need to have experience in dealing with anything that could go wrong.

Learn the ropes in a club. Once you've learned to dance, perform, entertain, and deal with drunk men without causing any dramas, if you're still interested, branch out into private party work.
