I just couldn't take it. My skin was greasy, I had a pounding headache, and the food was nauseating. I couldn't wait for it to get better. It was making me ill.
I guess I'm a quitter![]()

No maybe that diet was not right for you. Not everyone needs to cut their carbs. Don't do it if it is not right in your body/mind.
Good looking out for yourself...............
I Love Life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried it once; I quit after 18hours. Then I decided that all that anti-Atkins literature was so utterly convincing. heheh
Right now I'm on the 'eat a lot less, move more' diet. I read about Christian Bale starving himself to get psycho emaciated for The Machinist movie. Have you seen him in that movie? He's TERRIFYING skinny. He lost 63 pounds for a role by eating an apple and a bare green salad a day, give or take a few dozen cigarrettes and some fat free lattes. And I thought "shit, if he can lose 60, I can lose 10...he's a bloody actor". I dunno why, but it really motivated me. I guess I got kinda competitive.
^^^ Well, you don't want to starve yourself, either; then your metabolism slows down and EVERYTHING gets stored as fat.
I'm a big fan of the "eat less, move more" diet. It's the only thing that actually works; you simply have to burn more calories than you take in. It's really that simple. I never saw the point in elaborate diets... but then again, I like food and I'll never be skinny. I heart my womanly curves, LOL!
^ hah that sounds like my current (and highly effective) weight loss plan. "eat healthy, and exercise". who'd have thought something so crazy could actually work?!
but yeah, atkins killed me after about a week. i couldn't handle it anymore.
Screw Atkins. It gives you rank breath and headaches.
Yuck. My old roomie tried Atkins, she lasted, oh, like 3 days. She had migraines all the time. I personally don't like meat well enough to do it lol.
I believe you Dottie and you have my support

Personally I have zero self control, so I don't really diet very well. But if you're in the mood to abstain, rescind or give something up, you might consider doing it with stuff that is bad for you.

I tried South Beach and only made it a couple of days. I was such a raving bitch! Finally after a two days, my boyfriend grabbed my arm and said, "Come on, we're getting you some nachos and a margarita RIGHT NOW. I can't take this anymore."
Heh heh...
Wow, yeah, I had wondered about that...like, is he that dedicated that he risked his health for an OK movie? I thought maybe there was some hollywood magic in effect, like he'd been painted to look more gaunt, or something. I guess not. "if you were any thinner you wouldn't exist.."I read about Christian Bale starving himself to get psycho emaciated for The Machinist movie. Have you seen him in that movie? He's TERRIFYING skinny.
Feature costumes for sale!
Did Atkins when it was all the rage (before Mr. A. dropped dead). I lost about 11 lbs and ate a ton o' meat. But I found it wasn't sustainable as a diet, I got headaches, rare for me, and my breath became dog breath-like.
Plus, I missed pasta and bread something awful. Life is too short to miss out on really yummy carbs.
These days I watch the carbs and work out 5 or 6 days a week.
I'm just going to do raw food for a few weeks I think, so I can lose a little for my vacations. Keep it simple, ya know..
Fresh organic fruits veggies are cheap. So are nuts.

Don't forget to eat some oily greasey stuff, nut butters or cocounut oil or whatever.
I did Atkins and managed the first two weeks (and then fell off, like a dumbass, through laziness). One thing I looked up was the "induction flu" where you get headaches and feel like crap as the yeast in your intestines dies off.
When I was suffering from hives and looking for anything that would make them go away, I bought some anti-Candida pills from GNC and took 6 of those a day for a few days. They didn't help my hives, but I noticed that afterward my carb cravings went WAY down.
So I thought, I wonder if they'd help during Atkins induction? and took them. Voila--I felt like CRAP the first night, but once I woke up the next morning, I was completely adjusted and had almost no cravings. It was a lot easier than dealing with it for days on end.
So, those who are considering a low-carb diet may wish to try the anti-candida supplements to smooth the transition.
