    Default Your pregnancy diet

I know there are a lot of preggo women on SW these days, and even more of you have had babies in the past.
What are/were some of the things you could and couldn't eat? Do/Did you have strong cravings or just serious aversions? Or both?

The things I can eat these days are:

    ~Cream of mushroom soup
    ~Indian food, especially hot curry
~Spicy Buffalo wings (homemade of course, which means I have to gag when I split the wings from the drumsticks and tips. I actually started crying the other day but I wouldn't let my man do it for some stubborn reason.)
~Pita and hummus (not garlic though)
    ~Pierogies
    ~Celery
    ~Cheddar cheese
~Microwave burritos (the really cheap kind)
    ~Salsa with PLAIN tortilla chips
    ~PLAIN bagels only
    ~Canned peaches
    ~Oranges, apples, pears and grapes
    ~Turkey pepperoni
    ~Green peppers and green beans
    ~Spaghettio's
    ~Cottage cheese
~Yogurt (although I'm getting really sick of it)
    ~Rice

    Things that absolutely repulse me:

~DEL TACO (I can't even drive past one without heaving - I will actually drive out of my way most of the time so I don't have to see the building, even.)
~Hamburgers (I only fantasize about them with Texas sauce and I can't find it in California)
    ~Eggs
~Jack In The Box, Carl's Jr., BK, KFC, etc etc ....Most fast food, but I can still eat El Pollo Loco if I just get a burrito and don't look at the whole menu
~Tater tots (I used to love them but I threw up when I ate one that was semi-cold)
~Meat that isn't ground up and practically chewed for me (it's like my body rejects things that are going to be hard to digest)
~Things that are too sweet and/or syrupy
~Sandwiches with the bread UNtoasted, or with too many vegetables on it
~Cheerios (they smell like pee to me)
    ~Anything soggy
    ~Cream of wheat
    ~Any significant amount of garlic
    ~Sausage, especially breakfast sausage

I'm having neither food cravings nor aversions...it's really starting to frustrate me. I will eat when I get REALLY hungry, but other than that I will sit in my living room knowing that I'm hungry, but nothing sounds good enough to make me want to get up and walk the less than 5 feet to my kitchen to get something.

Hopefully this will pass once I get thru the first trimester.

I have a mexican mother but when I was pregnant I couldnt stand mexican food or spicy for that matter. And I love both. I wanted only healthy food until I hit the third trimester. It was crazy, I gained no weight the first 6 months, had no morning sickness either so I dont know how I didnt gain weight, but the moment 7 months rolled around I wanted ice cream. Chocolate. Cake. McDonalds all the damn time. Those cravings get really strong at the end. I had no self control.

I craved subway a lot. Like every day I wanted subway. And Panda Express. I lived in Japan right before I got pregnant so I had strong cravings for Coco's curry and Bamiyan chinese food... I had to deal with that, but I would have flown to japan to get some food if I had the option.

You know what I wanted to do? Smell bars of soap. It was weird, I loved how irish spring smelled I'd sniff it all day. I loved the smell of pinesol, too. Its not a craving of food, but it was such a desire t small clean stuff.

    Wow these are interesting!
I thought I was the only one who obsessively enjoys smelling soaps and things. Yesterday I bought a bar of gardenia soap because I couldn't stop smelling it in the drug store. I also bring bottles of body spray in my car so I can spritz them on the seats when things smell too much like "traffic" (if you can imagine what that means).
I'm very sensitive to smells now, and I never used to be at all. I can smell someone lighting a cigarette in the NEIGHBOR'S house.

Speaking of smells...I couldn't go grocery shopping...ick. Joe went grocery shopping. haahaa Also, he had to practically clean the catbox several times a day. I could smell the cat box (which in on the first floor laundry room) all the way upstairs in the bedroom and it would give me a headache.

I also didn't like popcorn (well, I normally don't, but especially not when I'm preggers).

First time I was preggers, all I wanted to eat was salmon, veggies, eggs, oranges (and orange juice) and yogurt. This last time, all I wanted to eat was red meat, veggies, eggs, oranges (and juice) and yogurt.

Wow, I thought I was the only oranges preggo freak ever!!!! One day I actually counted 13 oranges eaten. That was w/ my 2nd preg. I had some serious aversion to all foods w/ my 2nd. All I seemed to eat was oranges and homemade mini pizzas on sliced bread. I absolutely LOVE coney island dogs and the 4 times I had them I got so sick, threw up two of those 4 times. Even now 2 months later I don't care for the coney's

With my 1st preg. I loved sauces. Whomever I was with would joke that I should've asked for some spaghetti sauce with a side of spaghetti My appetite still hasn't fully returned from my 2nd, but I'm still a sauce girl, lol!!

BROCCOLI! I had to eat it every day and even sometimes 2-3 times a day . Talk about gas.... Funny thing, it just so happens to be my (18 m.o.) daughter's favorite food. How many toddler's do you know that ask for broccoli!?

^ Wish all my veggie eating would have rubbed off on Makayla. I ate veggies all the time when I was preggers...and the only thing she'll eat are corn and carrots. Nothing else. grrrrrr...

And my orange kick...geebus...I bought a BAG of oranges a day for 5 months. A BAG! My co-workers used to joke about how you could go into my office and find an orange and if there were no oranges in my office, it meant that I wasn't in the building. LOL

Crazy- I did the orange thing, too. Bags and bags of it. I totally forgot about that, going to my dr's office I'd pass those people selling oranges at the freeway entrance and I'd buy bags of it. I also became sensitive to smells. I could smell things that I didnt even know existed.
