Thumbs down Bloodiest Period Ever: What to Do?

I am having the worest period of my life right now. I am so crampy/bloody---bleeding thru everything including my sleep gear. Why is this happening to me now. This is way worse than my last one.
The bleeeding is uncontrolable on the 4th day. Has anyone esle had this problem? I is so ill. I am bleedin g thru a super tampoon in an hour or less. What the hell? I have never given birth. I am 31 what can be the problem. I would never dance in this condition other than the fact that it is cold as hell in NYC now. COLD COLD.....
Any suggestions on this uncomfortable issue for us ladies out there?

Is it at all possible you could be miscarrying...? I had this happen to a friend of mine once...she couldnt figure out why her period(she hadnt missed any)was so heavy and painful...turned out she had been @3 weeks pregnant and miscarrying....

i had a miscarriage, and it was very painful, cramping and clotting like you wouldn't beleive. So that very well could be it.

If not, you're having a shitty period, and I feel you because i'm also having mine right now, but thank god it's not as bad as yours!

Yeah, you should go to the ER. That's not a period, it's a hemorrhage. Seriously.

I doubt aspirin would cause THAT much blood....go to the Dr...now. If you ARE miscarrying...you'll need medical attention ASAP.

Yeah, I've always heard that enough bleeding to soak through a pad or tampon in an hour is a medical emergency. You are hemorrhaging, hon. People die that way. This is an ER situation!

certainly sounds like a miscarriage... which wouldn't have been helped by thinning your blood with aspirin. get thee to the doctor.

    let us know what happens.

It could be a hemorhage. Please go to the doctor. Not to scare you, but my mom had a friend that happened to and didn't go to the doc because she thought it was her period and it was pretty bad. Much better safe than sorry!

This has happened to me a very very long time ago, it was caused by a miscarriage, it was the most awefull thing I had ever experienced!

I bled for 3 weeks though with extremely heavy bleeding for 2 weeks... doctors told me to not take asprin (or any other blood thinning medication) and I basically had to rest!

Unfortunantly for me it happened @ a very busy time of the year @ gold coast indy, I was stuck in hospital, after I begged the club owner to let me go home cause I was sick, he was like, watever do 3 more hours, in the end I walked out!!

I really wuold suggest that you go to the ER as soon as possible and ask to see a gyno asap! This is not normal & causes you alot of agonizing pain!

Hugs and I hope you get better soon!!

If you've got lots of pain and cramping accompaning the bleeding, it could very well be an early term miscarriage.

Just because you fill up a super plus tampon in an hour isn't that bad. My periods last 3 days and the first 24 hours, the flood gates are open...the second two days are spotting.

But, let us know how you are doing and what is going on.

By the time I made it into the city the bleed ing ha subsided. I woke up this morning covered in blood again. Maybe I just suffer from heavy bleeding which makes dizzy and faint. There also maybe anemia in the deal. I eat like no meat.

Well, if you're already anemic, then bleeding like that definitely isn't going to help it. I still think you should see a doctor if all this is true.

If you're anemic you need iron, not meat. Yes, I realize there is iron in meat, but much healthier and bio-available sources are grains and cereals, beans, tofu, leafy greens--and of course vitamin supplements. Also, you need to make sure you're getting enough folic acid and B12, which also aid in the production of red blood cells.

Yes, eating no meat can cause you BIG problems if you're not getting your iron somewhere else. Women should have at least 15mg of dietary iron per day to stay healthy. This is especially important for you being that you are losing so much blood. There are many sources to get iron from beside meat, such as tuna, broccoli, asparagus, collards, spinach, almonds, lima beans, soybeans, apricota, and raisins. Dottie's right about the folic acid and B12. Deficiencies of vitamins and minerals can cause serious problems down the road so try to cover all the bases when you're eating, think of food as fuel for your body. You wouldn't put rubbing alcohol in your car's gas tank, would you? If you can't get everything you need from a natural source, try to at least take a vitamin supplement for women like One-A-Day or something similar. Also be sure to drink plenty of water, 64oz/day is what was suggested to me by my Dr. I hope you get it all figured out and have an easier time next month Sophie.
