I'm such a fan of Craig Brewer, and I support Memphis movies 100%. I worked on the camera tests for this movie but they didn't want to fly me out to Memphis until after I'd already taken another job... bummer, would've been nice to work back home. My boyfriend's mentor worked on it and said the show was a mess, but location shoots always are.
Working on the camera test was fun though. Christina is so fucking tiny in person! She's barely over four feet tall but she has great curves. Most sexy stars aren't sexy in person, but she really is, and very nice too. And meeting Sam Jackson was badass. He is so beyond cool... K worked with him on the "Snakes on a Plane" reshoots several months later and Sam actually remembered me! Told my boyfriend he was very lucky to have such a cute girlfriend.
There are a few times I really love my job, LOL! Anyway, yeah, this movie looks cool. Sorry, it just brought up a few super memories for me... I will definitely go see it.

What do you do, yek?
Yeah Ricci is little as hell (alot of actors are, they have big heads so they look taller in movies, lol) i saw her at a nightclub once.

What I do depends on the show... I was just a production assistant on the camera test. Typically nowadays I'm either an assistant director or an assistant production coordinator - I like to bounce back and forth between the set and the production office, keeps me better at both. K is an assistant director.
Almost all actors are little bitty for some weird reason, but yeah, she was one of the tiniest people I've ever seen. She has a fantastic house though. It's not fair, she's younger than me and hasn't got half my education and she's got this gorgeous spanking house in the Hills... *sigh*
i cant wait to see this! ricci is HOTTTTTTTT in it!

Ricci looks really gross in this movie. I love me some Samuel L Jackson in movies; still, I'd love to see this movie.....
.....wait I just saw Justin Timberlake is in this movie - he better not ruin it.

Not sure why, but I've always been hot for Christina Ricci. She's got something about her. I don't remember anything much about Prozac Nation besides her finally showing her nekkid bubbies. She looks so skinny in this movie.. I think she always looked better with a little more meat on the bone. Surprised Samual L. is doing another movie with Snake in the title after that stupid airplane flick..

We are one hot item.

Mmmmm, I wanna see this movie, it looks hot! And she has a violent sex scene with David Banner. I have a wee crush on him too. Mmmm....

Cant wait to see it :-)
Strange but Ill probaly watch it.
Well, the New Yorker opens it's review with:
"An intermittenly engrossing but sanctimonious mess..." and ends it with ... but is mostly southern fried hooey."
The preview looked good, but I have to admit this review looked better and is prolly dead-on (read the rest!) so maybe if there's nothin else playin...

Oh well, read for yourself:
An intermittenly engrossing but sanctimonious mess. Lazarus (Samuel L. Jackson), a small-time farmer and erstwhile bluesman, lives alone with the burning anger that has consumed him since his wife left him for his brother. Rae (Christina Ricci), an abused nymphomaniac prone to fits and flashbacks, loves the troubled Ronnie (Justin Timberlake), who has just shipped out for the Army, but she can't stay faithful to him for even a few hours. Finding her drugged, drunk, and bloodied on a back road near his farm, Lazarus takes her in and nurtures her with tough love, in a process of chaste mutual redemption that is as contrived and sentimenal as it sounds. The writer-director, Craig Brewer, lovingly depicts the heartiness of country ways, but he is after something bigger than reality, and his quasi-mythological churnings boil down to this: messed-up white people depend on pious, soulful black folk to make them whole again. His inversion of long-discredited stereotypes smacks unintentionally of nostalgia for faithful servants. Despite the appealing locations, tangy dialogue, and intense, sincere performances (John Cothran is robust as R.L., a backwoods minister), this heady rural stew of violence, race, lust, and religion strains after Faulkernian depth but is mostly Southern-fried hooey.
I actually heard that the violent sex scene wa s with Timberlake... which if its true, I'll just shit my pants. I'd hit it until the sun came up. lmao

I just came back from seeing this.... O M G this is one freakin awesome flick. i have no more to say on it except to GO see IT for YOurSelF!!!!engrossing, heartfelt, great cinematography & screenplay, acting is superb.... i adored this. and it is like nothing else out there these days... which is rare.
and i disagree with the reviewer who boiled everything down to race relations. it was about a young woman and an older man who, though very different, are very much the same and realize they need one another to overcome their respective obstacles. it wasn't white people using black people to be whole, that's bs. only ricci & jackson are together, and she is as much to him the child he never had as he is the father she never had.
^^^ I notice that lots of reviewers like to criticize Craig Brewer on racial grounds without having any damn idea where he's coming from. He's MEMPHIS! He might be white, but he grew up in the blackest housing project in town, and I think that gives him a really unique perspective on race issues. Besides, Memphis has a long and volatile history with racism (remember MLK died there). Hustle & Flow took a lot of flak for being politically incorrect, but you know what? It was fucking HONEST. I can't wait to see BSM because I know it will also be 100% truthful and from the heart.
Anybody who likes Craig Brewer should try and get your hands on a copy of his first feature, The Poor & Hungry. He shot it on a tiny garden-variety digital camera, and it's about a car thief who falls in love with a cellist at the P&H Cafe in Memphis. It's absolutely mesmerizing.
Hmmm, good points, glad you liked it...I might go see it actually. The review I read sounded a little "intellectual" but the part that got me was "southern-fried hooey"...I hate movies that are sappy/end happy/have the obligitory moralsmoralsmorals...everything in it's place of course, but I much prefer down-to-earth grittier movies, that's just me. Of course Christina Ricci is always awesome and grew up where I did, she's great!![]()
i want ricci's body in this movie! i love how toned she is! i wish i looked that great in a pair of panties!

I am looking forward to seeing this movie. It looks very interesting and out of the oh so boring norm of current Hollywood films.
