    Default Cookbook Poll

Please read the thread entitled "A SW Cookbook" before voting in this poll...

    Option #1:
We go through a fundraiser-cookbook company. We can have a couple selected photos, more recipes, and less work. Everyone who would like to contribute a recipe may do so online, and the company puts together the book. The company invoices us after the printing, and we have a certain amount of time to sell the books and pay back the company, and everything else we sell after that is fundraising for SW.

    Option #2:
We self-publish a combination cookbook / girlie mag. Everyone is welcome to contribute both recipes and photos, and a couple of us could put it all together in Acrobat and take it to Kinko's for publishing and binding. Payment would be due at Kinko's, and then we'd ship the books around and sell them that way to make the money back and raise the extra for SW. Someone may also volunteer to set up a website to sell them online, or eBay a few of them.

Option #1 is more of a traditional cookbook with just a few photos; Option #2 is more of a novelty item involving sexy pinups AND recipes.

The proceeds would go to Pryce for StripperWeb maintenance.

    Okay, vote away...

I like option #1 the best. I'd most likely be a consumer, so I can go without the sexy girlie pics. I just want some recipes, dammit!!

Trying to think of who we would be selling to. I'm thinking both men and women...so #1 seems to make the most sense to me.

I come from a marketing background, so I'm going to say Option 2, all the way. Think about it--why on earth would anyone pay for strippers' recipes? Do you think "Strippers are probably good cooks. They would probably have some yummy recipes." Hahaahahaa...yeah right. LMAO. I'll buy a Paul Prudhomme cookbook because he's an internationally renowned chef. Or a "Moms of St. Josephine's Elementary" cookbook if my kid goes to St. Josephine's. But why would anyone who isn't a stripper want to buy a boring, stodgy old cookbook, the recipes in which just happen to be by strippers? That doesn't seem commercially viable to me.

Who is the target market? Strippers? Customers? Random people who find it on the internet? EVEN IF women are our target market, it still makes more sense to do a cute, girly pic cookbook. FACT: SuicideGirls.com has more female than male subscribers. The pinup thing is huge with men and women alike. It's just a cute, fun idea.

Oh, wow...I'm coming up with so many great name ideas.

I'm more about the recipes. Thinking of the customers I could sell it to...they'd be more inclined to take home option #1.(most are married) Either way, I've got some great dishes I'd like to contribute.

Would a self publisher like Lulu.com be of any use? I have never used this service, but find it rather intriguing. (Hmmm, I see Lulu does calendars too. I didn't realize that during the discussion of a SW calendar. D'oh. But I bet it might have to be clothed/bikini.)

I think a combo photobook with recipes is a novel idea. Gives new meaning to the phrase happy homemaker. One advantage is that everyone could contribute a recipe even those of us who didn't want to be exposed to the world via photos.

On the down side, I'm not sure what copyright issues one gets into with recipes. I mean, I can't just steal one from another book and have it be kosher, I presume. Who knows where some of the recipes you'd receive have originated from. Well, okay, since I'm wondering about this, I just looked it up. Actually, I guess it's pretty loose what you can use, which is good news. See http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...010300316.html

Well I've not voted. I think it really depends on what you are wanting to accomplish. If you are trying to raise a bit of money AND share recipes with the existing members as the buyers, then I'd go with option 1. If you are trying to raise money by attracting buyers outside of SW then I'd go with option 2.

My instincts say option 2, and we could market the books to our indivual clubs and customers. We may even be able to gain shelf space at those lingerie/ sex toy stores and romance party hostesses.

Option 1 would be fun for sharing with each other, and would be a community only item. Sort of a badge of honor that we all belong to the stripperweb community.

So, I say both sound fantastic.

I agree that #2 would sell better. I'm willing to pose in an apron. In *only* an apron.

I think since this is going to benefit SW, then maybe Pryce should have the say?

I'm in the same boat. You have to determine who your "audience" is going to be for the cookbook: stripperweb primarily (and there is a ready supply of people willing to buy it as "a badge of honour" as Paris stated - I know I certainly would!) or both stripperweb and the community at large.

I kinda want option one as then you can make a limited run of it and thus charge for the exclusivity of owning the first ever stripperweb cookbook... meaning you can charge a little higher than the "normal" cookbook price due to its limited run and the fact that it is only available for members of stripperweb (female and male).

Yet option number two will allow for further distribution of the cookbook and if further copies are required ... they are easier to produce since the whole thing will be done on a format that is easily distributed.

We could also then distribute the master copy of the file to select people in other countries so that us international members can buy locally instead of being screwed over on postage costs.

That's only a thought tho' as I would still buy a copy even if I had to pay for shipping.
