Has anyone tried one or both? Which do you think works better for quick weight loss and how did you feel? I did a search and didn't find much especially about South Beach.....thanks .

From everything I've learned people are staying away from Atkins and moving towards SB diet. The SB diet seems to be more effective as a realistic plan to keep weight off in the end by giving you more choices in the basic food groups. Too much of one thing and too little of another really isn't a solution to losing weight. Proper diet, cutting portions and calories along with exercise is truly the only way to lose weight and keep it off.
Here's a page I found re: controversy and the diets, it seemed informative when i scanned it over. Good luck with your weight loss goal.

Love it!
i tried both.
if you actually follow atkins correctly and eat a tonne of fat and no carbs, you'll end up feeling sluggish and irritated and moody, and you'll have bad breath and greasy skin. i didn't notice anything immediately but after a week it was like i suddenly dropped weight FAST. but it wasn't really worth it because it felt shitty and i craved carbs soooo bad.
south beach was much nicer. much easier to stick to.
I did the South beach and it was awesome. If you read the book and follow their instructions you'll realize that it's not really a diet at all. It's just a healthier eating life style. The 1st week i was DYING cuz mentally just knowing that you can't eat bread, rice, sweets, etc (i'm getting kinda hungry now) makes you want it even more. But by the 2nd week your body literally starts to stop craving all that stuff. You slowly introduce carbs and sweets back into your life, but healthy ones like whole grain rice pasta and bread and replacing bad sweets with healthier one like fruit, yogurt, sugarless candy etc. I would replace a carb with salad; so chicken with salad, fish with salad meat with veggies. the book has tons of examples, recipes, and even things the menu at major restaurants like fridays. I lost 10 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks but i just felt leaner, heatlhier and had more energy, not so tired all the time. i quit cuz i'm a weakling- i have a mouth full of sweet teeth, and being hispanic every meal included rice and beans with fried plantains. hope that helps
So I was thinking Atkins just the induction phase and I went all day without any real carbs besides salad without dressing and just now I ran across a bag of pretzels in the pantry and I felt like I was possesed or something ! I seriously was like crazed for a second and I ate a handful before I snapped out of it ...I tossed the bag!!!!!!
I don't know if I'm going to make it on Atkins.
^That was me last night with almonds.![]()
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.
It was weird. I totally lost control and I HAD TO HAVE the pretzels..So maybe thats not the best approach.
