Default so many new dancers at my club

well i only started dancing over 3 months ago so whenever a new dancer starts at my club i am always really helpful and nice coz i know what it's like.
the other night i even counselled a new dancer who was crying in the dressing room about her boyfriend.

however our club has recently taken on heaps of new dancers and the cluelessness of some of them is really frustrating.

the other night one of them asked myself and another dancer if she could borrow an eye pencil - be both said no, gross sharing those.
i did let her borrow a baby-wipe off me.
i just felt pissed off coz i thought i would never have had the nerve to ask to borrow anything on my first night. this was her first night at the club and she was asking for everyone's stuff.
then she started going through another dancers make-up bag before being told off about it by another dancer.

she was nervous abotu doing her first stage set so i gave her a few tips about how to move and reassured her that the club wasn't busy so she would be fine.
then she comes back in the dressing room and asks me if i can tell that she has been crying, i say no why were u crying and she said coz she is that nervous about the stage set.
i mean i understand the nerves but if you're that nervous that u cry perhaps it's the wrong job for u!!

i suppose this was a bit of a rant!!

I wouldn't invest that much emotion or energy into the new girls if I were you. I mean, we all know what its like to be new, but that energy you spend consoling and couseling these girls could be spent on YOU making MONEY.

AAaaarrrrgggh, Ifeel your pain, lol! Yes its annoying. I dont mind helping new girls to a point but somethings come down to common courtesy and common sense.

I was thinking of trying your club in a couple of weeks just for a week or two, not sureif I want to go there if they're taking on heaps of new girls though. How are the numbers effecting buisness or is it still alright?

Wow, going in someones bag she don't even kno shows either plain stupidity or absolutely no manners. She sounds a little unstable with all the crying shit. Stay clear of her, make as little conversation as possible if she talks to you, and focus on the $$$$$$$$$. sorry to hear you had an aggrivating night!

Helping out new girls goes to a certain point for me. Baby wipes, body spray, or even a tampon then cool. Sharing any eye make-up is a no-no.

New or not, nobody should go through someone else's bag unless you're a really good friend of the person and you've had prior permission! I wouldn't help them out because it takes away time and money away from you! They need to learn how to swim on their own, if they don't, they'll always be coming up to you asking for help!

Meh, I would of never helped out a new girl I just really dont care im there to be working not to be helping out someone I dont know. Shit, no one helped me out but probably because I keep to myself and dont really associate with other girls there's too much cattiness going on and the last thing I need is more drama.

Clubs see new dancers as more money, and many of these girls have no clue to what this business is all about. They don't know how to dress and wear makeup out of the club, and most have not been raised to look and act like a lady, and don't understand that being a dancer is more about being a salesperson than swinging around a pole.

It all goes to the clubowners lack of interest when it comes to training these girls. If they would train dancers like new employees are trained in other businesses, and actually MONITOR these girls while at work, a lot of this drama and problems would stop.

^^^ yup ! But in the eyes of many clubowners, every new dancer equals an extra $50-$100 or whatever in nightly stage fee income for the club. And the club could care less whether or not a new dancer actually turns a profit or continues to return to the club. After all, there are probably at least a dozen different new dancers banging on the club's front door who are ready to pay the $50-$100 a night stage fee ...

Yeh it has been better than ever lately money-wise. Lately I keep making my new record and then beating it the following week - no complaints here.
Last saturday was the busiest I have ever seen Centrefold, you could hardly move in there and there weren't enough dancers per customer.
The most we ever have on at any one time (saturdays) is about 25 dancers so nothing like the other king st clubs that might have 70 or more dancers.

The club I'm currently within is also having a semi-influx of new dancers. Yes I am a new-ish dancer there however I have experience under my belt so I'm more like the fresh face than actually a newbie.

I will help out with the minor things as well and maybe when it is slow at the beginning of the night (no customers) I will help out and teach the newbie a few real basic pole tricks and give them some tips to help them sell here and there however overall... I let them be as this is one of those forms of employment where you "learn on the job".

I know I did. I just tell them: Learn thru osmosis. Watch all the other dancers. Watch as many as you can. See how they move and then try out a few moves yourself to work out what does and doesn't work for you ... and put your own personality or twist on them. If you feel you are starting to go stale (same old routine), take up some dance classes outside of here and incorporate some basic moves into your routine.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Besides, alot of girls will just take advantage of your kindness, so it's generally better for YOU and your sanity to leave them alone

I think I will take your advise and be nice but not get too involved with their issues.
She also warned us that if she copied our moves on stage not to get annoyed coz she needs ideas!! I thought that was a bit rude.

yep i like those kinda moves like when i climb up the top of our pole (which is the highest pole in melbourne) and hang upside down or move down like a caterpillar. it would have been kinda funny if she attempted one of those.

Call me mean. I allow the new girls to blantantly try to copy me for the reason in bold. I know I'm good and that alot of new girls aren't able to move their hips or do undulations etc so I don't have anything to fear with them trying to copy me. Also, I'm not deluded and I realise that there are NO original stripper moves.... just the same moves with each of us putting our own "twist" or "personality" into it.

So go ahead new girls. Copy away. I am confident enough in my stage to not have it worry me or feel threatened. Even if a new girl is good, then I will be doing the same back... if she has a move that I think I can pull off.. I will definately give it a go.

    Always learning

^^^ Well I disagree slightly, Im 100% self taught and Ive never copied anyone whilst on stage or at work. I often get told that no-one dances quite like me and its true, I have a few things which Ive never seen anyone else do although I dont claim to be the only person in the world to do them, and I have my own individual twists to some of the more common moves. Of course I have hair stuff too which no one else can pull off (-:
When I started I had no training and I had one thing to fall back on in an emergency which was a move I saw The Bloopendales teach on Donahue back in 1986 which incidently Ive never needed, lol! Before that the only experience I had had was 15 years of slamming and stagediving and in big boots not heels. I got applause after my first ever podium and I think if I can do it everyone else should at least have a go (-:
Blatently copying ot trying to is just plain rude whether they can do the moves or not. Its the fact that they try to copy the routein and even some of the easier moves which no-one else in my club does that shit me. Copying other dancers style of how they look also pisses me off. I hate copy-cating OTC too.
Ooh, this turned out a bit long, lmfao! I should go have my morning coffee, lol :-D

Edited to add, I know in some ways its natural for new girls to pick the best dancers in the club to copy, but they should realise that its just not the thing to do. Imitation is not flattery, its purely fucking annoying. Plus they need to learn to walk before they can run (-:

Maybe it's a New Year's resolution kind of thing and they'll all be gone by March - teehee.

Sounds like you need to introduce them to SW!
