Default Breast implants and gaining weight.

I am considering getting implants (not too big, just to fill out the extra skin after the kids :-) ) and one girl at work said that I would gain weight afterwards. She said that if your boobs get bigger, so does your waist and ass. Is this true? Or just when you get really large boobs? Or just in some people? Just curious, I'm pretty fit right now, and thats one of my selling points, and I don't really want to lose it.

I've known a cuple of girls that have gained weight but not alot. A friend of mine just recently got her before after pics and she said she looked like she lost weight.
I think it depends on the individual. If you're already in shape I wouldn't think you would. When you weigh yourself your gonna have some weight gain from the weight of the actual implants. I've had to remind myself of this everytime I weight myself. My implants weigh 4.37 lbs, and that's weight I'm not gonne lose.

I asked my surgeon about this -- he said that many girls gain wait, but it's because they sit on their ass for a week or two eating macaroni and cheese during recovery. One's bound to put on a few pounds. If you can manage to eat well and get a little exercise during recovery, you should be okay. I did gain 15 pounds (2 of them were the implants, lol) but I've lost almost all of it by now.. maybe 5 pounds to go. I'm like 8 months post-op, though.

I gained weight after I got mine, and I ate perfectly and exercised as soon as I could. Pretty much everyone I know has gained weight after their boob job, but most lose it within a year or so.

there is the post-anesthisia bloating which adds like 10 lbs of water weight, but goes away in like a week.

I had to make a special effort to count my calories. The first couple days were easy as I had absolutely no appetite from the drugs. But then after two weeks I started becoming more active. I didn't gain, but I can see how I could have if I didn't pay attention.

I havent had this problem at all. In fact I've lost about 5lbs since I got my boobs done in late july (unintentionally, i havent been dieting). I cant think of any medical reason why a person would gain weight from a BA.

Just another boobie myth if you ask me!

I have never had implants but I do know some of my friends who got very very large ones gained weight to balance the weight they were given by the dr.
You can gain after any plastic sugery due to pain pills. Pain pills bloat the hell out of you.

The first few days after my surgery I lost weight, I don't really weigh myself but I just know from what my stomach looked like. I lost weight because I didn't eat anything because the painkillers suppressed my appetite. But then my appetite came back. So did the weight.

I heard it has something to do with you body balancing you out, but if I don't get really big boobs that shouldn't be an issue, right?

balancing you out? That sounds so riciculous. There is no biological reason why you need to "balance" out. You won't topple over.

Sorry, but it kinda defeats the whole purpose of getting a BA in the first place. if I wanted to get big tits and gain weight everywhere else, I could do that by just eating like a pig. And girls that got breast reductions would magically get skinnier everywhere else!

Your body gains weight because you consume more calories than you burn....and that's that!

I know someone who said her butt never looked the same after she got hers. Maybe she just thinks it looks different. I still thought she looked great.

I'm in recovery now and my doctor said I can't work out for a month after the operation- so the implants can drop properly. Darn it and I feel like working out too.

IF you are 5'2 100 pounds and you get 500 cc's in each breast you are bound to gain weight. I have seen it a million times. Now if you get 250-300 in each breast you can maintain your weight.

I did gain weight post BA, but that was because you CAN'T exercise for several weeks after getting them done. If you try to work out too soon after your surgery you risk hematoma (which may cause anurisim or stroke) as well as risk destroying the newly forming scar pocket and having a deformed breast as a result.

I know a dancer that went back to work 1 week after her BA and she had to go back in 6 weeks later as one implant slid down to almost her navel. An additional $10,000 later she was all fixed up and she stayed away from dancing for several months after that.

The weight gain is from the lack of activity while recovering. As soon as you are healed enough to go back to work (usually 3-4 weeks) the weight should come right off as you resume physical activity.

It is just an illusion. Having huge breasts will make a small person look heavier is all. No actual weight gain needs to take place for the patient to look heavier. I mean, aside from the actual weight of the implants themselves (with 500cc's your talking 2.5 pounds, max).

I have seen some girls blow up like mansions with their unruley implants. Not all girls will. You won't know how your body will react until you actually have then done.
I don't have implants so I don't know. All I know is from a friends perspective.

Yeah.....I can see why this is true. Plus when your healing, you're burning less calories than you normally would from doing everyday stuff because you're still.

Most of the time I've seen girls gain a few pounds after a BA,but they soon lose it.

I did not gain any weight after my BA about 3.5 years ago. But, my ideal weight was 125 before my BA, and now its 135. I had to weight alot less to look thin before my BA, than I do now. My big boobs actually make me look thin even with a little more weight. Its great!

I didn't gain weight after my BA...well, maybe I did, but if so, it was only a pound or two, easily lost. As long as you don't overeat, you won't gain, as others have said.
