    Default Just can't handle it?

I did an amateur last night. It went alright I guess... I was having fun strutting my stuff on the stage, felt really good until it came to game time. I did alright... guys were tipping... not too eagerly, some, but most were... I made 80$ on stage, but I felt like utter shit. I've been psyching myself up to do this for months and I finally did it, and ended up crying in the back room right after my set and wouldn't leave until the girls and DJ consoled me a bit. Didn't matter too much, the people were cheap and I didn't have the balls to work the room for private dances (none of us did). The thing is, I didn't do BAD.

I felt like a helpless little fawn being eaten alive while I was on stage. Heh. It was so humiliating - even though I wasn't being outright insulted or anything. The attention was a rush at first, but it still ended up a disappointment. WTF is up with me? I'm just not cut out for this biz I guess?

It sounds like you ahve some self esteem issues. Your very first time stage ever, and you made $80. That is good. Very good. Focus on the positive, hun. You did very well. Why did you feel disappointed?

I don't believe this is the kind of business that you just "get used to". Either it's something you can at least DO from the start, or you will get eaten alive REAL quick. I'd say you just aren't cut out for it.

What club? Saying game time im assuming your in Ab... probably Edmonton area? $80 is DAMN good for amateurs game time!!! Dont feel like shit.. Alberta isnt easy sweety.. it gets very intimidating.. hell I was scared shitless to work AB and I had been working almost a year in Ontario and Manitoba.

Just breath.. take it easy and dont compare yourself to other girls. The whole point of amateurs is to have fun and goof around.

PM me.. im going to be in Edmt March 11 - 17 and Calgary March 19 - 25. Im working back half of Nisku Airways the week of March 12 if your in Edmt you can do the Airways ammy on Sat and i'll give you some moral support

CF I dont really agree with you there. When I started dancing I felt like shit.. there were times I would bawl my eyes out after stage because I didnt feel I was good enough to do it or I wasnt comfortable being naked or I didnt feel pretty enough or whatever reason... I actually had to get used to it. Alberta is really intimidating for amateurs... the girls out there are really good and know how to put a show on so when the amateurs come in to do their amateur hour and they're seen other dancers it gets super intimidating. Also there are some ammy nights the agencies are watching. The way you work in AB is your booked, otherwise you dont do stage at all. You get booked at a club for a week by an agency and paid per show.

$80 in stage tips for an audition/amateur night is waaaaaaaay good. Gosh most girls I see who audition or do an amateur night only get a few dollars to maybe $20.

The money made in this business is in selling dances. many girls could care less about stage. You just need to get your feet wet dear.

You'll be fine. Just go for it.

Honestly, it's a scary biz. We're conditioned to be uncomfortable in our own skin, often without a single reason to feel that way. Dancing, we have to do the polar opposite of that! We present ourselves as feeling, and being, as flawless as possible, and that can be really intimidating. I've been dancing just over a year, and Every so often I'll still feel like a deer in headlights. It is a very rare feeling, and I've grown more and more comfortable with the realities of the job. You will too, and I'm pretty sure you'll be glad you stuck it out.

Remember: every single guy who tipped you, even if you diddn't think him eager to do so, saw something special and beautiful in you. Trust me, girls who are better suited to other professions don't do 80$ stage sets. It sounds like you also have a good club picked, if the staff were so willing to cheer a stranger up. Maybe your expectations were a little off, but now that you see what it's really like, you can better prepare yourself. Don't give up yet! See how you're feeling after a week, a month. I'm sure it'll get better for you

I think it is self esteem issues. The other girls looked so natural and beautiful up there, even the other amateurs. Being up there for 20 mins is also soooo intimidating. I'm not giving up yet though, I'll try another.

Remember though the amateur girls really make their living going around to different amateur nights... they refuse to work the circut doing showgirl work. So you'll be against some amateurs who have been doing it for years.

I'm trying to figure out how you got $80 on stage but the men were cheap.. yet nobody was trying to get dances?

Then how did you know the men were cheap? They weren't showing it on stage.

    I dunno, just confuses me.

I made $13 my first stage.

    FOR THOSE WANTING TO KNOW:

In Alberta there is what is called 'the game' its when everyone sitting at the tip rail throws loonies and toonies at the girls for their promo. In order to do stage in Alberta you need posters/keychains/magnets/lighters etc with your pic and name on them. The guys play to get the promo. The game is expected.. you even pick your music for it. Shows in Alberta are 18 - 30 min. You dance three songs and the rest of your show is the game. 9 times out of 10 the girls are pulled off stage before the guys stop playing as your given time slots for stage.

Now a slow show for tips is usually around $20.. the best i've had was around $800... I would say $80 for amateur game is just a bit above average.

Agreed. Also, if you have to "psych up" for weeks, months or years, you probably shouldn't do it. Some people just shouldn't be stripping. It's a tough job and it's NOT a bad thing to not be able to handle it. I'm a firm believer you have to have some serious balls and be just a little crazy to do this.

It's not so much that any person isn't (insert adjective here) enough for stripping; it's that stripping just isn't for YOU.

For you girls talking about $80 stage sets: A stage set in Canada is NOT the same as in the US. They do 20-30 minutes, not 1-3 songs like we do. And from the sound of it, their stage sets are much more involved than ours. So taken in context, $80 sounds like it might just be "average" for an amature.

so...that is just in Alberta they do that ?

I have only been in a few clubs...one in grande prairie, and a couple others in Cranbrook, and Cheetas and "the Willow" in Kelowna BC. The show in alberta was far more...how do I say this....raunchy.... than what I saw in BC but I thought perhaps that was just that club, or those dancers...

I can not ever imagine lying on my back, nude, legs spread, asking people to toss loonies at my kitten.....but that is just me, nothing against those who do it...trust me, my hats off to ya.

The game is a Alberta thing and some parts of Manitoba.

You DO NOT lay on your back letting guys throw loonies at your coochie. I have a jug that the guys throw the money in... 5 in a row must get in for a keychain and 10 for a poster. There is a 3 foot 'moat' around the stage and the guys can not reach over and touch you. Also girls are not allowed to hand anything, they must throw it.

I will sit on my knees with the jug between my knees for them to throw it in.. i'll pretend to touch myself or whatever to make it distracting for them. For keychains and magnets i'll sometimes stick them to my butt or breast and have them throw the loonie/toonie at the magnet to knock it off. If they throw to hard I stop the game and make them use the jug.

If you want to see raunchy shows got to Montreal or Ontario... Alberta is fairly tame due to all the laws.

I have seen them actually throwing loonies and toonies at a girl, not in a bucket

What is the deal with that? Why is "the game" so popular in Alberta only?

I think because of the gay 3 foot rule for stage ... its a way for the guys to still get into the show. Also where Alberta is all about show girls and features its a way to help us pay for our promo lol... I mean for me to print off 100 11x17 posters its like $180... I need SOME way to pay for it lol.

And yea there are some girls who let guys throw the money at their cookie... I think its stupid... I mean as I said i'll stick my magnets to my butt or boobs n guys will knock em off with loonies or whatever.

Ahh.....Texas has a less advanced version of this game, popular at tailgates and too many people stuffed in a garage parties.

You keep going until the DJ pulls you off stage? We each did one show all night long for a total of 3 songs (he cut it short for us because he was running more than an hour late, I guess) and we got naked in the first song to get the games going early. I stopped immediately after my 3rd song was over. Guys were still tipping but I thought I had to get off ASAP. Oh well, better luck next time I guess.

I was giving away polaroid pics for my game and no, guys weren't throwing loonies at my kitty, they were aimed at my boobs (where I put the loonie).
