Anyone know anything about their schools? It's 15k for the entire course/1year. I am thinking of taking it.

i was going to go, but i couldnt get the 3,000 deposit be enrolled on time. the program here in ny seemed really good to me; i took the tour and talked to some of the students. from what i understand, people who graduate from aveda find work pretty quickly.
but damn its expensive.
I'm getting my Dial-A-Stripper service up and running again. If you are in NYC or NJ and are interested in private party dancing, email [email protected] with your SW handle, contact info, photo (if you have one) & best time to call and I'll get back to you asap.
If you're having a party and need strippers, email me with the details and any questions you have. Thanks!

Here's my opinion of any school in the beauty field: enroll in the scool that's the least expensive with the highest percent of students who complete the course and pass the state board exams. The school should be able to give you those statistics.
Although a school may try to sell you on how fantastic thier facilities are or how superior their education program is, the bottom line is if you're planning on working in an upscale salon, you're going to start out as an assistant, no matter how fabulous of an education you recieved. Keep in mind that you'll also have no clientele, during the six months-1 year it takes you to build one, I can think of better ways to use the $8000+ extra spent on tuition. Also, I truely believe your money is better spent on the education you recieve after you're liscenced.
I know two girls who went to big ticket cosmetology schools, one paid $16000, the other $18000. The latter didn't even finish her hours requirements and the other is wiorking at a Floyds. Meanwhile, I paid about $5000 (really $3000, I recieved state and Fed grants), have invested an additional $2500 in various continuing education classes (that includes all the costs for a recent trip to Vegas for Redken Symposium), I'm at assisting at a wonderful salon and it looks like I'm completeing the associates' program in about six months time.
Look at different schools and compare them. Ask for thier statistics and keep in mind that no matter how expensive the tuition is, the only way you'll actually survive, thrive, or prosper in the beauty industry is if you have the drive and savy to succeed.

One of my girlfriend's went to the Aveda Institute. She did my makeup and hair for me one night and I looked like a fucking playboy centerfold(no joke!) That's all I heard all night. She did such a beautiful job, I've never had that look re-created by any makeup artist since. I've no idea if it was her training or what but just thought I would share that with you.

where is the aveda cosmetology school located?

It is great hair education. Which state are you attending the school in?
I Love Life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was actually thinking of doing that too. I'm already in University, but I was thinking of going to school at Aveda afterwards..To do something on the side..

that's more than i paid a year for law school. how the hell can aveda school be so expensive? or is it designed to keep certain people out?
I am in North Carolina, they have a school in Charlotte here.
they priority place you in their salons after graduation if i remember correctly...

There's one in San Antonio, Texas if I beleive right. My best friend wanted to go, but it turned out to be too expensive.

I wen't to Aveda school in Minneapolis Mn, one thing about Aveda is
that you will not get alot of personal attention because, the student/teacher
ratio. I had 30 students one instructor. Aveda is a good school, but remember
they are preparing you to pass you state boards. I would suggest going
some where more reasonable. Then spending your money on Vidal Sasson
advanced training. Everyone who worked at Aveda as an instructor told me
that Vidal's hair cutting method is the best method for hair cutting.
The one in Charlotte only allows 18 per class.

It's an awesome school. I went to an Aveda school and if you are good, you can usually test out of being an assistant.
I did while I was in FL..
I'm In Calif. Cant give you any insite on the Aveda school. But mine feels like I'm going to Juvenile hall. I graduate in 2 months YEAHHHHHHH!!!!!
Mine was $9000 I think tuition went up to $12000 in two months.
I do know my school has the number one passing rate, Luckily, My head teacher has been teaching for 30 yrs. She knows her State board. but god, it's so strict. Get used to wearing all black. lol
