Have you tried to do exercise that isn't strictly a work out like going to the gym is? I go to the gym a lot because I enjoy it, but it does get tedious and when I find myself unable to convince myself to go in, I do something different like go to the rockclimbing centre or play soccer...or do a group fitness class...they all provide me with exercise but without the monotony of the treadmill...
You have to find something you really enjoy or you won't stick to it.

K, this may seem like a given but do you listen to music when you workout? For me, unless I'm doing a class I need music. If the battery dies, so does my workout. I always look forward to working out when I download of track that puts a smile on my face.
oh, and go to the gym when the cute boys are there.
Think of all the nasty things you're going to do and say to them (and do none of them!)
Or you could could try a fun dancing workout like this one >
I'm not sure what part of the country you live in, but people in warmer climates tend to get out more. When I've lived in warmer climates (such as New Orleans) I walked around a lot, and also walk a fair amount in NYC.
I know one person who loathes working out and got a treadmill (you can get decent ones for $200 these days). She'd watch whatever TV she was gonna watch that day, but walked on the treadmill as she watched. So you can watch "Grey's Anatomy", get a decent workout and barely realize you're working out because the show takes your mind off of it.
"She has written so well, and marvellously well, that I was completely ashamed of myself as a writer...But this girl, who is to my knowledge very unpleasant and we might even say a high-grade bitch, can write rings around all of us who consider ourselves as writers"

For me, the worst part is putting on the gym clothes, driving over there, getting all sweaty, then coming home and showering. It's like a 2 hour ordeal..ugh. So I went down to kmart and bought a pilates DVD, and I've been doing it every morning for the past couple of months. It's only half an hour long, so I do it right when I wake up. It's like a part of my morning routine now. My boyfriends says I look skinnier, and I haven't even told him I've been doing it, so I guess it's been working![]()
I force myself to "go through the motions"- dress in gym clothes, hit the machines, and MAKE myself do it...Putting your mind in a Meditative Zone where you don't get stuck on the emotional impulse of "Don't Wanna.."
I also check & most of the people there make me feel so puny, it's a kick in the ass to work out.
Self-bribery works too, LOL- "If I work out, I'll have dessert/ buy a new dress/have a couple drinks...etc..."
I NEED my mp3 player when I work out. If you don't feel motivated, just get in your workout clothes (buying new ones so you have something cute to wear works well, too). It ups your chances of actually getting out there. If all else fails, tell yourself you'll do something easy, like walking for thirty minutes.
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.
I think everyone hates working out! I motivate myself by listening to music while I'm on the treadmill. I also think about how good I'll look naked and how much money I can make whenever I want to give up and end my workouts early! I also have found that fun workouts (like belly dance) are easier.

Then don't exercise! Simple as that. Seriously.
Instead focus on doing more ACTIVITIES during your day. Walk to the shops instead of driving the car or even use your bicycle! Do the vacuuming more often, dusting, washing the dishes... these all burn calories. If you have children, interact and play with them... run around chasing them and so forth. If you do not have children and/or have a pet you can run after (ie a dog), then do the same with the pet.
Start dancing around the house for 20 minutes three times a week - that is if you enjoy just getting your groove on or do as both 21stcenturyfox and myself are doing.... enrol in a class!
If you must exercise, try all the different varieties... pilates, yoga, etc.
Even look outside the box: HulaHooping (aka Hooping), Poi and so forth.
There are PLENTY of options.
I loathe exercise too!So I don't exercise... I just try to be active enough.

I have a dance pole. It is fun and builds strength and gives you a cardio workout. I also will mix pilates in with it. I haven't joined a gym since I moved because I don't feel like spending so much time going there and back if I can just get into a routine at home. If you don't have a pole just put on some music and dance around like a fool in your livingroom.

i jump rope and watch "rainbow brite" episodes in the living room. time flies!
watching a cirque du soleil show on dvd is great motivation as well.
also, just wanting to try out the different equipment at the gym to see what it does and how it works is fun. sampling the equipment is a workout in itself.

There's a lot of great advice herealready, but I have to add that it is way, way better to find something you really enjoy doing.
Growing up I never worked out and hated gym class. I absolutely despised it. Not just because the stupid shit they made us do was boring as all hell, but they would yell at you constantly for dropping the stupid fucking ball or whatever.
I still cannot stand basketball, baseball, football, soccer--any of those games with bouncing balls, sticks, nets, people chasing each other around with the ball, trying to hit the ball with sticks or put it in between sticks or in nets. Fuck all that.
I'm not a fucking dog, I don't chase balls...
Sorry, got carried away there, lol.
Since I hated all sports I had been made to practice, I thought I hated all exercise.
Then at age 16 I discovered skiing and then suddenly it all made sense. Haven't done that in a long time without snow--but I have found other things I love to do, so I do them a lot, and it shows.
That's what you need, to find stuff you like, and/or use the music etc. to get you more in the mood.
You must have chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star.

I like weights but I hate cardio! Unfortunately cardio is what I really need to be doing nowadays. I promise myself that if I do an hour on the elliptical every morning, then I can go to the bar and have wings or cheese fries over the weekend. And I need my iPod to keep me on the machine. I always want to quit after 30 minutes, but the Chemical Brothers usually manage to carry me through the rest of it.
I'm also one of those people that figures anything worth doing is worth doing full blast, so when I'm on the machine I really flog myself on it. I'll burn 500-600 calories in an hour on that elliptical machine. I can't really see any results just yet, but I feel better!

Start to enjoy working out, it's fun. Once you get into your groove you won't want to stop. Just get inot it. It makes you live longer.
Try swimming or yoga if you don't want a ballet class.
I Love Life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a big fan of group exercise. There's nothing like a workout partner to get to motivated and keep you pushing, but a whole room full of them? If I ever feel really depressed I'll take a spinning class...because I will be FORCED to complete an hour of cardio. But lo-impact aerobics, toning, pilates and so on can do wonders for your sense of completion. To stop working out- you have to face the shame of interrupting....

i don't think i would be able to get through my exercise sessions if it wasn't for watching a movie while excercising. When i had to actually go to the gym i would always put it off and never go but ever since i bought equipment for home it has become much easier to do it. And watching a movie is so distracting (especially with subtitiles for twice the distraction) that i often forget that i'm even working out and time goes by much quicker.
