    Default question, i've been curious

Why on earth do guys bother asking you for your real name?

And - why does it matter what my real name is? 85% of the time guys who come in don't even remember my stage name!

What makes you think I'm even giving you my real name? If I have a fake name can't I just easily make up a fake name to give you, too?

Does it make them feel closer to you, does it make them feel like theyre "in the know"?

For real because I have had some guys BOTHER me about my real name or be like well if i can't know your name you can't sit here blah blah. Wtf.

    anyway,

why the fuck do guys want to know our real names?

    any thoughts?

Guy, "K, so what's your REAL name?"
    Me: "Sarah"
    guy: "No it isn't"
me: "K, what is it then?"
guy: "C'mon, what's your REAL name?"
    me: "Laura."
guy: "Quit lying, what is it?"
    me: "It's Star."
    guy: "Ahhhhh. Cool."

That'sthe one that irks me to no end. Asks me my real name then tells me I'm lying about it (even though I probably am), why bother to ask me then? Just shut up, sit down and spread your legs, sheesh!

i also have a "fake" REAL name..its leeann lol.

yeah seriously, why does a name matter? i mean, i guess its because its the first thing u KNOW about someone when u first meet. they want to feel specail or something. sometimes i make them feel specail like, "oh my real name is leeann..shh dont tell anyone " and they smile and go, "dont worry i wont!". haha.

i mean one guy asked me, "i know its not your real name.."(when i told him my stagename) "but, i know when u get to know me, you'll feel more comfortable giving me your REAL name."

haha wut the? i mean, its not a BIG deal to give my real name out to anyone i meet...i dont have to feel "comfortable" to give sum1 my real name....haha but its in a strip club..i think part of the fun of being a stripper is your fake name! hehe.

    I don't understand this either.
    The other night:
    guy:whats your name?
    me: jessica
guy: is that your real name
    me: yes
guy: come on i know u all have stage names
me: yes ok its my stage name
guy: so whats your real name
    me:jess
guy:very funny, come on tell me your real name
me: well wouldn't that defeat the purpose of having a stage name

    happens nearly every night tho.

hey if we only tell that one customer it will be ok, yeh right i dont think they realise how many customers ask in a single night.

I use my real real name at work. Lisa.

Almost every guy asks me what my real name is and I tell them, "Lisa" with a big smile. Then they ask me again and I say "LISA" with a bigger smile and then ask them what their name is. This usually stops all that.

I act like it isnt a question that bothers me, like it isnt important and they let it go. Even if I wasnt using my real real name, Id use a fake real name but its too late for that now.

Re: why the guys ask, I think it is because they want to feel like we are sincere in our approach with them. As dancers we have to constantly deal with guys trying to catch us out in a lie, like they dont believe theyre worthy of our time and we are lying to get their money. Now this may be true for the majority, but I act like it isnt true and really, people are just people.

I tell them my stage name (Vanessa) is my real name. If they don't believe me then I tell them to place $50 on the table right now and I will go get my driver's license.

I've been doing this for years now. No one has put that $50 on the table. They shut up pretty quickly after that .... and I have no troubles as it is my real name.

It all boils down to the age old adage, Guy simply want what they can't have.
I think it's because if they do get your real name out of you, it's a since of accomplishment. They figure that for that moment they are tapping into the "real you" unlike "the other guys", hence the feeling of accomplishment and getting a more undiluted version of everything about you that they can't have.

man you should NOT have given me that idea!! lol because knowing me i'll start saying the same thing and someone will put the 50 down and i'll just run off with it while i "get my license" ahhhhhhh ahah.

at least you have a real sounding name though!!!
i named myself after "Manchester, England" *a reference to the musical "Hair"* without really even thinking - because Manchester is also a county of st.louis as well as a major road that many people in this area are familiar with. Ha, not nearly so easily believable. ("Manchester, huh? My name is Kingshighway" hyuck-hyuck)

at least i'm not trying to play off that "Bubbles" or "Desire" is my real name... oh god.

Because they're rude. I've found that most guys who bug me for my real name either don't spend much money or they're looking for some pseudo-gf. Ugh. It's one of the barriers that keeps me sane. Like I'd REALLY give that up?! (Okay, I do... but only for the one's who drop at least 1k on me first and are very persistant.)

It's annoying but happens to me almost every time I tell someone my name. I agree a guy wants to feel like he has more power over the other guys in the club- you let him in a little bit. I just say It's my real name- Jayda- not THAT hard to believe. I love the $50 idea. I'm going to try that tonight.

The reason I can do so confidentaly is because Vanessa IS my real name. Plus feel free to up the price to $100 or something ridiculious. Kinda a "shut up or put up" thing.

EXACTLY why I use it! It is the whole "put up or shut up" thing. When money is involved I can assure you that over the years (and yes it is years) I have used this that not one guys has "put up" yet they have certainly "shut up"

I sometimes start off by saying "Hi! They call me Shelby on stage, my name is Jenny; feel free to call me whichever you like." Now they have a choice of fake names. Usually they say "Wow you look like a Jenny!" hahaha whatever.........
