    Default Cymbalta

I was just wondering if anyone has tried this . Did it work ? What kind of side effects did it have for you and did it make you gain weight? ....and yes I did a search .

On it. Works for me. Insomnia was wicked to start but that seems to be diminishing. I started at 30mg and will scale back to 20mg very shortly. As for weight gain...I have been loosing weight, tho perhaps not as quickly as before (?). On balance, I'd rather be free of my black depression and a few lbs heavier.

Well I think the weight gain could be causing the depression or be a symptom of so it's very important that I don't gain even a single lb. I know that some antdepressants will make you gain weight and it that is even a possibiliy, I will not take it . Unfortunately I also have ungodly insomnia and have for years so aI'm wondering if the 2 issues are related. I don't feel clinically depressed but I think i have a lot of the symptoms. I need to go see my Doc again.

i actually lost quite a lot of weight while taking cymbalta.
i had no appetite whatso ever and the thought of eating or the sight of food was a major turn off. one of the listed side effects was anorexia, which i definately felt i was headed for if i would have continued taking it. since i stopped using it ive gained close to 30 pounds that will not go away and i have a feeling the medication might be one of the contributing factors.

I was on it for a few weeks last year and I lost weight on it. But I didn't like it at all. I felt like I was coming down from E the whole time I was on it. Very unpleasant.

I'm on an anti-convulsant called Lamictal now and that's worked very well for me.

Hmmm, Lamictal had no effect on me whatsoever. I have been struggling with depression too. I've never noticed a weight gain/loss from anti-depressants, so I think its individual. Serzone made me feel like I was on e, but not in a good way at all. It was too much seratonin all at once but not euphoric.

I won't get on anti-depressants for the sexual side effects. If I can't orgasm, life isn't worth living, lol!

Actually, I'm not sure about the side effects of Cymbalta in this regard. Say, I need to conduct some tests! Who wants to TEST me. TEST me, baby!

That's the one side effect that I worry about but I'm too depressed for that without the anti-depressants. I can't win.

I took it for a while, but I was taking it in conjunction with Wellbutrin. Cymbalta didn't do anything for me-positive or negative-so we moved on to a different add on to my Wellbutrin.

OK it official....I'm just this side of crazy. I was just prescribed Cymbalta today. I am praying that it works and I don't gain weight from it. I also hope I don't feel like I am coming off E.

    Wish me luck please.

I actually miss being on Wellburtin. It worked really well for me, but I was one of the 3% of people who broke out in a rash as a side effect. It was seriously horrible and itchy.

I haven't noticed any sexual side effects from the Lamictal. I started taking it in November. But then I really don't care about sex anymore anyway, so it's besides the point I suppose. I just haven't met anyone I want to fuck.

And Lamactil? Is that an antidepressant? Did you gain weight on either one of those ? ....I'm with you on the sex thing. I'm fine banging myself lately. It's less hassle.

Damn. Same thing happened to me, shortly after my first few pills. I was on a biz trip and by the time I reached the hotel, I covered in a rash. Scary. Went off Wellbutin immediately.

Weird....What about Effexor or Lexapro? Does anyone know anything about these drugs and thier side effects? I asked my doc about all this shit , but docs are often clueless or compensated so I'm looking for added information.

I got sicker than shit on Effexor. I couldn't keep any food down, I was tired even if I slept 10+ hours at a time, and instead of being less depressed, I was more aggressive. I threw a shoe at a girl for looking at me funny, not one of my best moments.

Wellbutrin gives me a rash as well. I guess I'm allergic to something in the dye on the coating of the pill. I can't go off it though because it's the only anti-depressant to help me and not cause weight gain. I have to take a benzo with it though because it makes me anxiety so bad.

I have been wondering about Cymbalta as well because I have a shit load of it here (My dr. gave me samples) However, I am to scared of the side effects and gaining weight to try it out.

Cymbalta makes most people who take it lose weight, so that likely won't be an issue.

It does make me a little sad to hear how many people would rather be depressed than weigh ten pounds more. Although from what I've heard it's medications for more serious disorders such as bipolar and shcizophrenia that can cause more weight gain. I've met several people who are bipolar who have gained 30 pounds or more on their medications. That's part of the reason sometimes women can be less compliant in taking their meds.

    Anyway...

One last side effect of Cymbalta that I hadn't remembered. Flushed skin. I'm wondering if this will continue when I drop the dose to 20mg in about a week.

You know ND, it's a vicious cycle because since I have gained weight, I feel depressed what's which makes me gain weight and then I feel depressed...get the picture? It's awfully fucking depressing when you have 3 walk in closets full of clothes and NOTHING fits, especially when I am working out 2 hours a day and eating well. That is part of the reason I can't afford to gain even one more pound. Until I get out of this business, looks do matter, you know?

They have it.....its called exctacy, or weed, or cocaine, or booze..whatever is your poison. But it makes you feel even worse afterwards. You need more than just Cymbalta. If you're concerned about gaining even one pound, then you do, you'll blame the meds. Then you'll stop taking them. You might just gain a pound for other reasons. Seek therapy and counseling, its the only thing that really helped me. Believe me sweets, I've been in your shoes. And your weight gain is probably very insignificant. For all that its worth, I'm sure you look great. Now start healing so you can feel great!
