This may seem kinda odd, but right now I'm rather sad. The New Haven Coliseum was demolished on the 20th of january and I just found out. This was where I saw my fist concert at the tender age of 8ish - Shaun Cassidy, my first metal show - Iron Maiden, Killers tour, my first job as a popcorn vender, then usher. I met my first rockstar and then wrestlers and various other superstars there, got to see Jon Bon Jovi get slapped in the mouth, did a lot of drugs, saw my first death, drank my first fifth of j.d.
I spent the better part of my life either working or hanging out there and it's gone.
I stole this quote from Howard Finkle the wwe ring announcer and a man I used to love talking to "In a mere seventeen seconds in the early morning of Saturday, January 20, 2007, the New Haven Coliseum went down by way of implosion. Certainly it was the end of an era, and it was time to turn the page and move on."
It may not matter to some, hell a lot of ya may sit back and not care, but to me all my fond childhood memories were tied into that building. As ugly and decrepid as it was, it was a safe haven for me - my escape from the painful life I lived back then and I want/need to say goodbye to her, and my childhood.
Life goes on, I guess.![]()
