Default A piece of my childhood gone forever

This may seem kinda odd, but right now I'm rather sad. The New Haven Coliseum was demolished on the 20th of january and I just found out. This was where I saw my fist concert at the tender age of 8ish - Shaun Cassidy, my first metal show - Iron Maiden, Killers tour, my first job as a popcorn vender, then usher. I met my first rockstar and then wrestlers and various other superstars there, got to see Jon Bon Jovi get slapped in the mouth, did a lot of drugs, saw my first death, drank my first fifth of j.d.
I spent the better part of my life either working or hanging out there and it's gone.
I stole this quote from Howard Finkle the wwe ring announcer and a man I used to love talking to "In a mere seventeen seconds in the early morning of Saturday, January 20, 2007, the New Haven Coliseum went down by way of implosion. Certainly it was the end of an era, and it was time to turn the page and move on."
It may not matter to some, hell a lot of ya may sit back and not care, but to me all my fond childhood memories were tied into that building. As ugly and decrepid as it was, it was a safe haven for me - my escape from the painful life I lived back then and I want/need to say goodbye to her, and my childhood.
    Life goes on, I guess.

Well, when I opened this thread, I certainly did not expect memories of lots of drugs and seeing your first death (::snickers)... But, um... I remember how I felt when my dad sold the first house I ever remember living in and the first car I ever drove... and it sucks. Tear-worthy, I'll admit!

Yeah, when he said "a piece of my childhood" I was thinking nothing worse than alcohol poisoning and broken bones.

Oh man, yea that would bother me.

It freaked me out when they remodeled the local one in town where I saw Megadeth for the first time, then they where talking about demolishing the Darian Lake Amphitheater where I met Metallica... I would have protested it!

It's amazing to see that stuff go... It's weird... once you start getting expendable income you start buying pieces of your childhood back at 10% the original cost.
People are not ruled by their memories.

Was this the Coliseum with the hockey player on the side of the building, downtown? I caught a cab to work from that intersection once...

& You got to see Jon Bon Jovi get slapped in the mouth, HAHAHA!!!

I felt A LITTLE bit like that when the world-famous Blueberry Hill Cafe was torn down...I grew up a mile from that cafe...The night before they took down the sign, it was too foggy to see the neon sign from my house...Now an ugly-ass McDonald's sign is there... "Progress."

Yep the one and only. Here's a to my old friend, let's hope they don't build something stupid in her place.
Bon Jovi got slapped by a good friend of mine.
