    Default Anti-Vday people?

Any anti-Vday people here? Its a dumb holiday where people celebrate by going out to over crowded restaurants waiting forever for a meal they could probably make at home. A bouquet of overpriced dying colored shrubbery. If I want a me day I'll celebrate my birthday again but not get older.

Any good ideas to do for a single person on such pointless "holiday"?

I hate Valentines day myself. I dated a guy for 6 years and he dumped me on Valentines day, ever since then the appeal just isnt there. I am not still bitter about that but it just kinda ruined the holiday for me so to speak. I havent celebrated it officially in 8 years, and I dont plan on starting now. Maybe for a single girl you could treat yourself to a massage/mani/pedi then a great takeout meal while you watch horror films in your pj's snuggling with your cat/dog/ferret..

Happy BEING SINGLE AND FREE Day instead ???

Do something that only a single person could do or rather is much more enjoyable as a single person... or just hang out with friends... or just forget about the day altogether.

I'm hoping to do the later. I'm hoping it will come and go without fanfare for me and that I won't miss it because I didn't realise it happened... lol... sometimes a little ignorance is bliss.

Honestly, that's just plain cruel. I can maybe see breaking up the day before or even the day after, but ON the holiday? Then again, the schmuck might have waited until your birthday, so maybe you got off easy.

WTF is wrong with people? Whatever happened to simple civility?

awww echo! What a fucking schmuck! I'd so kick his ass for you, if you're still holding on to any resentments......

I have a friend that just went through a really fucked up breakup, and I wanna plan something for us to do, invite some other single girlies.... on SAD (the 15th.) I'm going to take her shopping for some clothes for her bday extravganza a week later. Maybe on actual vday I'll give her a girl certificate for a massage or something.....

I hate vday..... what happened to couples staying together through all the holidays..... Like in St patrick's day (a john mayer song)......

Neither of us need a special day to reinforce what we should be expressing on a regular basis anyway. I make it a special day because that's what the Hallmark Conspiracy has led a bunch of people to expect. Oh, well.

You know, I went through a small time where I not only agreed with Jay, and also looked at it via the negative side that "Valentine's day actually PROMOTES the antithesis and tells the male populace, that all their transgressions will be forgiven if they treat her like a princess on that one day."

But I'm passed all that now.

I agree with Jay, if you choose to spend your time with me, you'll be greatly rewarded for it (hopefully ) with my desire to see that you have a good time. If valentines day falls within the walls of our time together, and/or near, it will not be forgotten.

Simply put, I don't need a holiday to treat a partner like she deserves to be treated, but another reason never hurt either.

My mother was burried on Valentine's day so it completely ruined the holiday for me. I like getting gifts don't get me wrong but the day is just sad to me.

I've never really been a Valentine's day person. I've never celebrated; I've occasionally gifted because, well, I like giving gifts. But I'm not a fan of "disposable gesture gifts" - like flowers or teddy bears. Like "gosh, thanks - you don't know me at all, do you?" If you can't get someone something good (by which I DO NOT mean expensive) just don't bother. Just bring food. At least you can eat that.

My guy dumped me after Valentine's Day...which gave me the feeling we only spent the day together for HIS benefit (he didn't want to be alone.) Ever since it's been easy to ignore it.

I'm convinced people who are too bothered by Valentine's Day are "people-pleasers" who worry too much about what others think. Which is much worse overall.

I use it as a day to remind me that I love myself!

I go to the spa, get the full treatment, then I go shopping with a really good friend or two.

K will be out of town for Valentine's this year... we usually get each other a little something and make a nice dinner at home, spend the evening in or whatever. Since he's going to be out of town this year I guess I'll just curl up with the cat or something. No biggie, I'm a homebody anyway!

Vd day sucks dick. I refuse to have some stupid holiday tell me that I need to buy my wife a bunch of overpriced useless shit to show her i love her.
I've never made a big deal out of it and never will. It falls on a wed this year so we'll prolly kick back and watch whatever crap is on tv that night and then play WoW before bed.Same as usual, lol

I like VDay dates at home, cooking, fucking, and whatnot. This year, I'll probably work late, come home, pig out, and surf Stripperweb. Oh wait, that's EVERYDAY!

Make sure it is the only thing he hears about, keep hinting that you think it had to be him... lol I just hope he does not lie. lol He should be blushing everytime you thank him.... lol I'm evil tonight.

As V Day approaches and the marketing pitches become insistent on every broadcast, Internet and offline channel--"Buy your love a gift; prove you love her!"--I find my single self getting more and more irritated. Grrrrrr.
