Who is the company? Do they have a website? Most schools and even teachers these days have a website.

    OMG...they offer a 3 DAY instructors course?????????

I would never allow a student to instruct after 3 days!!!

My instructor classes are almost a year long!

I would be VERY hesitant about this company! They apparently are not concerned with safety and ensuring they know what they are doing before they teach others!

    http://www.hoopgirl.com/index.php?pt...0&hdr=training

Even offers a three day intensive workshop for teacher/instrutor training. So I wouldn't be too harsh on this school. It might be worth doing if they have a good set-up. The hoop-girl instructor training goes 10am until 7pm every night it is on (from the information on its page) so that is pretty intensive IMO.

Not everyone can devote a whole year to being trained.

If you are intending on being an instructor of any type...I would suggest more than 3 days training...even if it is from 10am to 7pm.

My 1 year course is also only 2 hrs per week...over the course of a year....but can be condensed easily into 4 months at 8hrs a week....should I find a girl who has the stamina to hold that level of instruction.

To properly instruct you actually need to be able to perform the moves, understand the muscles used to execute the moves, ability to care for the possible injuries incurred by executing the moves!

I would challenge ANY instructor to that! How can you teach something you can not do yourself???

I personally do not believe that any girl can do the superman, or the straight edge or the fallen candlestick or monkey swing after only 3 days...or 27 hrs!!!!!! These moves take months to perfect....even for seasoned dancers.

Besides that..how do you allow the body to rest between demands when you only have 3 days or 27hrs to learn it! It is physically impossible to learn over 300 moves and transitions in 3 days!

They wont let a education teacher instruct a class until she/he is fully educated, tested, and has had some practicum...why should pole dancing be any different.

If poledancing is to be taken as a serious sport of form of exercise, there does need to be standards upheld...and a 3 day instruction is not one!

I guess that is the difference? Pole dancing can cause serious injury and requires alot of skill to perform whereas HulaHooping and Exotic Dancing... especially beginner classes... they don't require as much?

I like your set up. 2 hours per week is easily manageable over a course of a year and if someone misses one week you can easily do it twice a week then without the person hurting herself.

Are you ever thinking of going international with the instructor training?

I teach internationally via Live Cam...students and instructors.

I am currently teaching 3 instructors...one in Hong Kong, one here in Edmonton, and one in South Africa. I have regular students all over the world! I am also contemplating joining affilliations with the IPF (International Pole Federation), hey have invited me to become a member of the board.

They work on standardizing and legitimizing pole dancing around the world! There are 2 of their member already on SW.
