    Default Seniority or...?

So, I finally found a job that I like up North. Good money, good mgmt. etc. The only thing that bothers me is that we have shifts that, if you work in the afternoon (which I do because it is an hour and 15 mins away) you work 9 1/2 hours. If you work the night shift, I think its like 7ish. BUT, I see girls that come in 10..11...12+ and the latest we stay open is 4 ... 2 on the weekdays. So they work what, 4-7 hours tops?

I am a hustler, and I like to stay on the floor so 9 hours of dancing and hustling can be pretty exhausting (and we do six songs on the stages). At my old job (where we had no shifts) sometimes I would stay for 12 hours if there was money to be made. But sometimes, there is no money, and no people, and girls will be walkin in super late while I've already been there 7 hours, have an hour to drive home, but they let some of the veteran ladies leave early all the time.

Is this where seniority comes in and because the girls have worked there longer they can do what they please? Do you think that it would be reasonable to talk to mgmt about a schedule

I think expecting you to work for 9 hours is unreasonable. I feel like I get the shaft working mid-shift because I'm there for 8 hours and the later girls only work for 4-6 hours. It's bullshit, but there's nothing that can be done about it.

Seniority does play into it. I certainly get to leave early more often now that I've been there for a while.

senoirity plays a role to an extent sometimes, but this seems a little excessive. Where I work, seniority may allow you to work 3 instead of 4 days a week. Or to call off more sometimes, but not to come in that late. It doesn't matter how long] you've worked there, where i'm from if you're not there by 9:30, you don't work. It's that simple. Everyone works a 6 hour shift and nobody leaves after 2. (We close at 3)

Ah that blows girl, 9 hours is a loong shift. Where I am our shifts are only 4-5 hours max, and there's no "Come in mid-shift stay all evening.." shit. Senoirity can be a bitch when it appeases to the other party. You can try talking to mngmt, explaining your situation and that you have a far drive to make, chances are they won't give a flying but you might get the nice one that will agree to cut your shift an hour an a half earlier, considering your going to be spending that time in the car anyway. The worst thing that can happen is they say no.
Then you gotta think if it's really worth it, because from what you said, 9 1/2 hours and six songs on stage is too straining on yourself, then add the drive here and back.

If I were you, I wouldn't say anything to the fact that you've noticed other girls are coming and going at x times, just explain to her that it's an hour there and an hour home and working 9 hours is really tough and that you're concerned about falling asleep at the wheel and just ask if you can either come in later or leave a little earlier. I'm sure if you explain it that way they'll understand.

I say suck it up and do it.

Stripping is a job, and should be treated like a job.

You just need to learn to pace yourself. 9 hours isnt long if you allow yourself a 10 minute break here and there. 6 songs on stage? Thats nothing.

If there is money there why miss it just to be lazy and work a 4 hour shift?

Eventually you will earn the right to be lazy like the other girls.

Keep in mind that stripping is a job just like working in an office. Cally is ABSOLUTELY right. In big clubs I have worked at I always saw girls who came in at 10-10:30 to work 3 hours fo a MUCH higher payout.

Why would a girl do that when she could come to work earlier for a much lower payout. Many times there is limited money late at night and the girls LOSE money.

They are the flaky strippers that clobowners detest, and because of them the clubs are harder on the rest of us dancers who are reliable.

You have a better chance of making money the longer you are there in many but not all instances, especially if it involves a 2.5 hour round trip commute, right?

Ahaha thanks Tina.. I was scared I sounded mean there *blush*

Seriously though... scarlett_vancouver is the perfect example here...

Im doing a booking with her this week, shes in at 130 in the afternoon every single day, allows herself ONE ten minute break to eat something then is on the floor hustling NON STOP and dancing the entire damn time, she does four 20 minute shows on stage between 130pm and 2am...

I admit im lazier then that, im in at 6 every day, do 4 twenty minute shows and am on the floor till 2am and allow myself a half hour break... I do this 6 days a week.

This is a job... you should treat it like a job... point out a job that allows you to work 4 hours a day twice a week... and pays enough to live.

Yeah, but the reason it's such a desirable job to us is that it's not at all like a regular job. You're still young and fresh in the business, for some of us who have been in it a long time we just don't have the desire to put in that kind of time. I can make the same amount in 6 hours as I do in 8, so why should I work 8?

To me it's all about how little time I can spend to make the most money. I'm not a lazy person, but I don't want to waste my time. I'm tired after 6 hours, and that makes me useless for the other two. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way about it.

I guess thats the big difference between US and Canada... here anywhere West of Thunder Bay the only way you work is if you do a 6 day booking and your day starts at noon and finishes at 230am... So I see dancing a whole different way.

Girl trust me I got lazy down pat... Im paid to do stage shows... I get a pay cheque at the end of every week thats a pretty enough number to keep me happy *grin* so I dont need to rely on lap dance money to pay bills, so if im at a booking that lap dancing is an option(which is most bookings) all I do between shows is lay down in my changing room and chat online lol.. though I do try to get bookings where I can lap dance if I want so I can keep myself busy.

I do treat it like it is a job. Like the job it is.

But, the hours suck. I like to make all the money I can as fast as possible, then dip. I have been a top earner here, and I like to be THEE top earner, then get the fuck out. I hustle my ass off, rarely sit in the back unless there is NO customers.

Unfortunately, I am not a feature and do have to do lap dances. I have been spoiled by southern clubs where I have no schedule and leave whenever. My tip out including DJ is 110-120, no matter when you get there so I try to get there early and make it ASAP.

Like, for instance, I stayed past my shift and was so tired that when ten and half hours rolled by and customers started to come in, I couldn't do shit I was exhausted. And a girl strolled in and was getting changed at like one or two am. come on now... well I just learned that one girl earned her laziness by having the owners kid. this is a strip club, all strip clubs are different, and well, lets face it, its not like working at the office in some places where a BJ to the DJ means free tip out for life. fuck jersey clubs.

Seniority does make a difference. It takes time for management to see whether you're a good worker/seller or just a lazyass who rarely makes money. Generally speaking, they give a little preference to girls they know to be good workers/sellers.

Before I was a feature, I was a table dancer... I relied on lap dance money to pay my bills. The clubs I worked at though required me to do a min of 7 hour shifts... no way around it. I was top earner... I hustled my ass off but I also was smart and paced myself so I wasnt sitting in the changing room half way through the night crying because I was burned out.

Here though a fair amount of clubs require x amount of days and x amount of hours... the club I worked I worked Tues - Sun from 4pm = 2am...

Now dont get me wrong, im not saying everyone should work 6 days a week, 10 hours a day. Im crazy thats why I did it lol.

What im saying is its not that hard to do as long as you pace yourself, eat properly and give yourself a break here and there to eat a quick snack get yourself together then head back to the floor.

10 and 1/2 hours is too long for anyone. I've worked like that before. You're at the point of diminishing returns after that long.

I have worked 12-13 hour shifts before, and just like other girls who pulled them I took several long breaks in back to get rejuvenated when it was slow.

Working 9 1/2 hours on top of a two 1/2 hour round trip is a lot. Good luck.

I can relate. When I lived in WI I worked in Chicago, so I drove 1.5 hours to work, worked for 10 hours, and drove 1.5 hours back. I only stopped doing this when one nite I was so tired I accidently drove my Jeep down the EXIT, the OFF RAMP and on to the freeway. Thank God nobody was exiting and the freeway was dead so I whipped a U-Turn on the freeway. And no, I had not been drinking!

The clubs I've worked at since moving south do not have set shifts, but you have to stay for 4 hours. Both clubs have both said that girls cant come in after 10pm (since we close at 2am).... but some of the senior girls used to. I've seen refreshing the management clear that up real quick. I used to do nothing but 14 hour shifts.... but now I'm all about whatever mood I'm in. I've done 4 hour shifts if I'm not feelin it. As long as the club has enough girls, leaving after the minimum # of hours or arriving at the last minute should be ok.
