Default when you're sick or you have a school presentation how much time do you take off?

    Hey--
so there's taking off time because it's absolutely necessary, and then there's time where you COULD go into work but you tell yourself ooooh, I've got this cold and I don't want it to get worse, or I've got this presentation for school I need to stay home and work on a couple hours (as opposed to a whole shift's worth of time.)

I'm just wondering how many of you let yourselves freebie days and typically what reasons get you the most type of days?

For example, I ws sick this week and haven't been in all this week. Yeah, drippy nose and the occasional sneeze with amazing booger results but not something I couldn't handle at work. However, there IS a lot of smoke that could have made it worse.

I was planning on going into work today but couldn't get a taxi (and I've called about twenty times.) I could hoof it over there (it's about four miles away) but I'd rather just try again tomorrow.

Just wondering how much slide room you guys give yourselves?

Psh. Maybe I'm the wrong girl to ask, but this is going on to be my third week off. The first week was for school. Now I've come down with a bad cold, making it two weeks. Personally, I hate it when people are at work with colds. It's contagious! So I'd stay home on principle, even if I didn't have all this homework that makes it convenient. Anyway, when I'm sick, I'm SICK and can't hide it...and I'm a miserable sight, so it's not like I'd be missing out on money. I figure I'll go back when I'm well, pick up a few extra shifts, and work harder. Sometimes time off is the best motivator once I get back to work- I don't take it for granted that I CAN work, so make it worth it. That's my two cents, in any case.

(please know this is from a girl who sometimes hates being a dancer though...I'm the most ambivalent stripper ever. I stay for the money, etc)

    lol. i like my job.
It's just this week (and I'm travelling...I've been here for two week and I'll be here for another month):

    1. I got sick on sunday-- still have the sniffles today and some flying boogers.
    2. I was using a friends car and they needed it back on sunday so I have to rent one.
    3. I had a presentation yesterday which I did pretty well on.
    4. The taxi service sucks around here.

So yeah-- I'm not going to be hard on myself but I could be working harder to get myself into the club. I feel like I have to make the most of being here; the first week I worked 3 days, the second week I worked 4. Typically I'm a party dancer back home so I feel four is pretty good and I am averaging nicely it's just I want to be the 5-6 day a week girl no problem.

And I do really like my job. Even if I'm kind of horny lately and have broken my no-grinding rule. Not that I'd do it for a regular wage by any means, but still--
it's nice making what I make and I feel good about being a good dancer, you know?
