Default How old is too old??

Ok, I started dancing when I was about 19...worked till I was 22 and I have taken the last almost two years off...(well I have been dancing off and on mostly off) I really want to go back but I will be 24 in April...is this too old? People ALWAYS think I am younger. Or do you guys just think it mostly matters how well you "take care of yourself"? Just curious how old other dancers are that are still making good money. thanks girls!!!

At 40 you should be retired though I know many many ladies in NYC who still dance past 40.

    Here's an older thread:

    35 too old?

I doubt there is ANYONE out there though that would say, or even think, that 24 is too old.

it depends on how you look, some can dance until 40 easily, others should stop at 25

And don't listen to anything sophiemarie has to say. She's just the resident eating disorder psycho

40 is pushing it unless you are halle berry. 25 is right on. There is a limit and you should be honest with yourself. I got my BA when I was 25. I just got greedy and had to have everything I wanted and ended up screwing myself and played the game til my 30's which is what I did not want.
The easiness of making the money, in my opinion is what can keep some of us in it longer. (It did to me)
Once you get your style down it's easy to make money at ANY strip club ANY WHERE.

I didn't start til I was 31. Now I'm 33. People think I am 24, 25 at most and when they find out my real age they like me even more (especialy older gentlemen.) If you work out, stay out of the sun, don't smoke, drink water, have good genes, are emotionally and spiritually healthy, etc. then you should have a long shelf life.

I just started dancing at 30 and this one girl at my club started at 43, she has 3 kids, she looks great and BANKS! The guys love her, I think the fact that she is older but looks great! It's not all about looks, it's about personality, hustling skills, etc., being beautiful helps but it's not everything! Go for, grandma! Haha, jk!

There is no age requirement. You dance as long as you are able both physically and lookswise.

The average money spending customer in the club is probably aged 35-60. Think about it this way. Would a man aged 50 be more attracted to a well kept 40-45 year old dancer whom he could relate to more on his level, or a 23 year old dancer who is the same age as his daughter?

You can dance at 24, you can dance at 30 (I do!) you can even dance at 40! But if you are 30ish, with a bad attitude, an eating disorder and a narrow mind, you may want to reconsider.

    Just Food for thought.

I think we are all in agreeance that youcan dance as loing as you got the looks, and can still make the money. However.....Please know when it is time to retire. Don't hold on to the fantasy that you still look 25 when your 55. Don't end up one of thoes wrinkled, frizzy hair, blue eye makeup middle aged woman who sits at the bar smoking all night long, and thinks she still looks young enough, but wonders why she cant sell a dance to save her life.
I guess what Im saying is age gracefully. Dont try to dress like a 20 year old at 50. Dont try to look like a 20 year old at 50. You can still look young and beautiful at any age, but trying to hold on to your youth by borrowing your granddaughter's clothing only looks tacky.

I have seen and know exotic dancers over 40 who do extremely well. They do well because they keep themselves in great shape, have confidence and a presence that some other women, regardless of their age, don't have. Yes, the older guys will like them more, but then I've seen the younger men be enthralled by them. It's mostly about presentation and personality.

One I know said that in HER club the younger girls are mostly there for the money (I am not saying this is true of ALL younger dancers, this was just her example) and appear bored and distracted and that she got more customers than the rest because she looked the guys straight in the eye, paid personal attention to them, and made them feel like she was dancing just for him. She is in her mid-40s. She doesn't look younger she just looks great. The younger guys all want her just as much as her older customers.

Both of the women I know who are like this have danced for me and I am blown away every time by the way they communicate with their eyes, their body and the small talk they make that makes you feel like no one else is in the room and you are the only thing that matters. I hope someday to dance as well as they do!

A 20 year old can dress completely wrong for herself...can still be built like a little girl and trying to dress like a mature women. It goes both ways. It comes down to knowing what your strengths are and making the most of them, showing your self-confidence, plus connecting with your customers so that they feel special.

Oh Bridgette, you almost made me blow coffee out of my nose.

Stop stripping when you go into work with a sour look on your face all the friggin time OR when you you use it as a thinly veiled cover up for your real career as a prostitute.

There are many young girls that fall into this category.

That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. There is not much of a difference for anyone in how they look at 18 and how they look at 25, especially in club lighting. Unless someone throws acid in your face, how exactly can 7 years make someone look old? Even if you tanned, smoked, and drank, you're still holding up at that point.

Ummm... I'm 24 (okay, not for a couple more weeks) and I can't imagine that I'm too old to dance! If you look good, you look good. You'd have to treat yourself REALLY badly to look worn-out at 24, hahaha!

Shit man, you're making me feel really old... I too am 24!! It never occured to me that I might be too old to dance seeing as how most places don't let you dance til you're 21, anyway.... Thanks for giving me a complex though. *Silently puts down bag of sour cream and onion chips*

I think the point of the original "others should stop at 25" was simply to point out that if someone, say, drinks heavily, does serious drugs, smokes, eats horribly, never exercises (save for grinding on laps - which I guess might pass for cardio for some), and tans excessively, it's not inconceivable that someone ten years older than her that, say, doesn't drink, do drugs, or smoke, eats healthily, exercises, and avoids the sun JUST MIGHT look a hell of a lot better than the youngster. And if you've never met a 25 year old that fits the first description . . . well, I'd be surprised, inside or outside of a strip club. I've known plenty.

No one in their right minds, I don't think (at least around here) would seriously be saying that a 25 year old needs to think about retiring ASAP. And for the record, I started at 34.
"Before I conceived you, I wanted you. Before you were born, I loved you. Before you were here an hour, I would die for you. This is the miracle of life." -- Maureen Hawkins

"I just can't get over how much babies cry. I really had no idea what I was getting into. To tell you the truth, I thought it would be more like getting a cat." -- Anne Lamott
