    Default Retail Therapy @ MAC!

i had a pretty kickass week at work on the money side of things, but a pretty shitty week in terms of having to deal with absolute wanker sleazebag customers. i made really good money ($600-$850 each night, very good for a slackass non-hustler like me!) on all three nights that i worked, but the assholes were out in full force.

so today i'm going to treat myself to a big shopping spree at MAC! i've never really shopped at MAC before, as before they came to my city i splurged on an absolute tonne of 'Makeup Forever' brand stuff (really expensive, but their eyeshadows are so highly pigmented that even their super bright rainbow colours last all night at work even if i have to do a water fountain show and get all wet). anyway now Makeup Forever either doesn't exist anymore, or isn't in my city anymore, and all my makeup from them is old and either about to run out or has gone a bit crappy. so i'm switching to MAC.

recommend me some good products, girlies! i think i'd like to get some of their colour pigments, and maybe some eyeshadows? i dunno what else they have though. so recommend, recommend!

i'm gonna go buy it all this afternoon

I know makeup forever still exists because I've seen it at Sephora, but that's here. If you like long-lasting, try MAC eyepaints.

My favorite nailpolishes are from MAC too. They aren't really known for this, but they are great. Apply smoothly and don't chip much.

I've always wanted to this, but I'm too cheap to sacrifice all the makeup I already have.

I love their hyper real foundation because it's made with shimmer.

yay! just spent $500 at MAC. i got some foundation and powder, and some eyeshadows and kohl liners and liquid liners and gel liners and blush and lipgloss and a brush. it was fun.

haha and then i spent over $500 on a juicy couture handbag and purse. oops.

    i love retail therapy!

Should've bought from America online*... those $30 eyeshadows? $12 in America... even after shipping and money transfer.. it's half price. :/

    *America, on the internet...

    Not AOL

If you don't buy makeup, a tip is considered a good gesture for their work. Or tip if they made you up.

I second the MAC nail polish. I am wearing Abstract right now. I didn't know what to expect, but I was just thinking earlier today that it really doesn't chip. I am a huge MAC fan.

Oooooh Pooka loooves her some MAC!!!!

I will never have Lipglass in enough shades. (But Pink Lemonade is my favorite) It's so pretty without being too gloopy glossy. I like the cream-ish like eyeliner thats in the little round glass thing with the brush. Their bright colored eyeshadows - the hot pink, torquoise, green, etc....are wonderful. I also have one copper colored one, thats really sparkly that I buy over and over when I run out.

I use HyperReal foundation lightly and use StudioVix lightly over it with a fluffy powder brush.

I like the light colored cream blushes.

There's this highlighting cream thats in a little circle a little smaller than the blush that I buy over and over again.

I'm not a big fan of their mascara (mine always dry up super fast and they are really messy, and always burn the shit outta my pooka-eye when it gets in it) but their fake eyelashes are grand.

I love their moisturizers and make-up remover towels, too.

I dont like to get my makeup done there, though - they always make me look weird and clowny, but when I do it wif their stuff, I'm in :

    I'm also rambling now.

    The end.

I see very few people actually liking their mascara- I always wondered why they don't fix it.

MAC is good. I used to use it until i discovered MECCACOSMETICA and fell in love with their lines.
    www.meccacosmetica.com.au
    they sell:
    - nars
    - stila
    - kiehls
    - kevyn aucoin
    - philosophy
    - darphin
    - du wop
    - prescriptives (even make a custom blended foundation)
    - and much more

I love their store, the staff are awesome!
You can also order their stuff online.

IMO the kevyn aucoin mascara is the best mascara i have ever come across.

Are we really supposed to tip? Are you talking about when they completely do you up with fake eyelashes and everything (like they do for prom), or anytime they do your makeup? I always buy a bunch, but never tip. I feel bad now. They always insist on doing base, blush, gloss, sometimes eyeshadow.

Oh Crap! Have I been insulting?

I know a LOT of people who work there... you only tip if you don't buy anything OR if they completely made you up (and you made an appointment)...

They get a %, kinda like us, so a tip is always nice... they always put so much on you because they want you to buy so they can make more... so the less you buy (say, 1 eyeshadow) the more chance you should tip ($1-2 is fine... $10 is great... for full make up, I'd say $10).

I used to work make-up counters, never MAC though (as much as I wanted to!) and yes, a tip for doing up the face if you don't buy is a nice thing to do....we always appreciated it.

K, you made me itch for a make-up day! Dang it! time to call my lil sis and hit the counters!

I have to disagree slightly on the tipping thing. If they did my make-up and I didn't buy anythng then there would be something wrong ie, coz if someone does my make-up and it looks great i will always buy.

i had a girl at the mac counter do my make-up (i did not make an appointment, all did was ask about a lipstick and the next thing i knew she sat me down and was doing my whole face) and it looked like shit and i didnt buy anything and then she turned really bitchy about it.

hey if they have no talent and cant pick colours that work then IMO they deserve nothing.
