    Default laser hair removal

I know a couple of other ladies on here are wondering about laser hair removal, so I thought I'd share since I took the plunge.

The basics: you are told you need six sessions and they give you a discount for buying them all in advance (buyer beware: if they go out of business during this time, you are screwed.) I decided to get my underarms and "brazilian" bikini done. The package cost $1170 for both areas done 6 times. sessions are 4-6 weeks apart.

My first session was 10 days ago. Hair is already quite sparse. I've got a lot of ingrown hairs now, but they've stopped growing. If I pick at the hairs with my fingernails, they come out very easily. I'm trying not to pick, but if I wipe with a towel after a shower or something, they will come out.

I haven't shaved in 48 hours. You can get a feeling for how much my hair would have grown because I had her leave a "landing strip". I've been shaving it anyway, but I didn't want to get it lasered in case I decided to keep it.

So the first session was successful. Somewhat painful, but yay! I'm not going to have to shave anymore!

I don't know. I was going to see how this went and then decide.

It's really expensive to get legs done and my leg hair is pretty fine. I was just tired of shaving these areas. I can't get my crack without cutting myself and I'm tired of razorburn and stuble.

I get laser. You have to shave the area that gets lasered BEFORE the laser removing process.

So, you'd still have to shave your butt crack. I just found the best razors for this area: Noxema bikini shaver

well, yeah, at the moment I still have to shave it.

I meant when the process is over, I won't have to. I'm not getting my butthole zapped for nothing!

Hmm...I've considered lasering to combat my plucking addiction (but the hairs are so sparse from that already). But it's expensive, and I heard it's not guaranteed to be permanent? Is that true?

it's not permanent removal (they are very careful not to use that word), but permanent reduction. They told me I'd need a touch-up about yearly. Lasering doesn't work if you pluck (or wax). You have to let the hairs grow back because it works by seeking the hair by the difference in pigment to skin.

and lots of girls shave their buttcrack. Or get it waxed. Who wants hair there?

It's expensive. Even if it's no 100% peranent in the end, I've noticed a huge dfference in the amount of hair that grows in. I'm happy with it so far.

I know a girl who got everything lasered. She loved it. But then she got pregnant and hair started sprouting back. Gotta love hormones.

I had a brazilian laser. I am definitely happy with the results but the hairs that are sort of "in there" where it's harder to shave, well, they are still there. I guess because they were not as dark and coarse they didn't get zapped as well. They are a lot finer and very light now but it's not like the insides of my kitty are all smooth and hairles permanently. I guess there is only so much you can do. I'm getting my arms done now and it's not the same result as the bikini where the hair was thicker since my arm hair wasn't as coarse but it's still a definite improvement and worth the $ to me.

Thanks for the story. I really want this done and its on my list. FrustratedBunny, if not all gone forever then much finer hair I could deal with - thats what I want. I will totally get my starfish lasered too. Its not cute to look like your butt is spewing fur.

yeah, they lasered in my booty crack. It's not pleasant. One time the lady zapped my taint and it hurt like hell. I never even knew there was a hair there but apparently there was!

well, there is nothing like BA pain!

it's just little annoying zaps, but they are over and over and you're obviously totally awake. i think it feels like someone waxing you with postage stamps, or snapping rubber bands on you.

    I <3 laser.

If you are going to get a larger area done, look for a place that has an AESTHRA IPL with a pneumatic skin flattener. It's painless and so much faster than a Lightsheer or Coolglide.

Getting those hairs out is like popping a thousand blackheads. It's annoying as hell.

Another thing to consider before investing in laser - you will get much better results if you have darker and more coarse hair and paler skin. I've had a bunch of sessions and definitely have a noticeable reduction, but the lighter finer hairs are the ones that are hanging around.

Definitely worth it though. I used to wax but got sick of the ingrown hairs.

My primary had this done; she spent about $3K to have her underarms and bikini line done and she's really pleased with the results. She did say, however, that the underarm treatments--even with numbing cream--were really painful.

I'm so jealous, I want this done so badly! I'm a furry little monkey -- with all the waxing I do (even though I do it mostly at home) the laser would pay for itself pretty quick. I'll save up and treat myself eventually

I started to get laser hair removal done a few years ago and stopped and now I want to continue but they suggest not tanning while getting the treatment done and I love to tan.

I soooo want this. Same as you Emily Bikini and Underarms. They are the 2 places I hate to shave.

Let us know how it goes after all treatments. I've heard the new lasers are much improved and the results are getting really close to being permanent.
