Default I've finally received my first Nigerian scam email.

They'll give me 30% of 8 million dollars if I give them my bank account information, Yeah, right!

Oh, btw, since you're in Nigeria, wtf are you doing sending me email from a server in Spain? Too many Nigerian servers being filtered now, no doubt.

Unfortunately, yes they are - they wouldn't still be doing it, but some folks still fall for it. Just gotta hope it isn't many of the elderly, but I fear that might be true,

I'll send you a scam e-mail, if it will make you feel better.

    "Dear Ma'am -

The David Hasselhoff Appreciation Society is in desperate need of help. We have approximately 5.7 million dollars tied up in several Swiss Banks, but due to legal considerations we cannot access that money ourselves for the next 7 years. However, we can transfer it to third parties. If you have it in your heart, please provide us with your bank account number and passwords, and we will send it all to you. Of course, since you will be helping us, we will give you a considerable fee for your kindess.

We thank you greatly. David Hasselhoff thanks you greatly."

    I just don't get it.

    My pants are tight.

I haven't received that email either. Although I have gotton a voice mail telling me that I'd won a free cruise and to call them back at 1-800-blah-blah-blah. Really? I didn't even enter any contest and I won a free cruise. Wow I must be lucky!

I've gotten a scam email like that too a while back. Here's what mine said:

    FROM:MR ALI BELLO
    ECOBANK LOME TOGO,
    WEST AFRICA
    TEL:011 228 90 90 720

    DEAR GOOD FRIEND,

MY NAME IS MR ALI BELLO,THE MANAGER CREDIT AND FOREIGN BILLS OF ECOBANK LOME TOGO [ECB].I AM WRITING IN RESPECT OF A TURKISH FOREIGN CUSTOMER OF MY BANK WITH ACCOUNT NUMBER (21-002610-AU200EC) WHO PERISHED IN A PLANE CRASH [UNION TRANSPORT AFRICAINES(UTA)BOEING 727] ON THE 25TH DECEMBER 2003 WITH OTHER PASSENGERS ABOARD.

SIR,SINCE THE DEMISE OF THIS OUR CUSTOMER I PERSONALLY HAVE WATCHED WITH KEEN INTEREST TO SEE THE NEXT OF KIN BUT ALL HAS PROVED ABORTIVE AS NO ONE HAS COME TO CLAIM HIS FUNDS OF USD.20.5M,[TWENTY MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND UNITED STATE DOLLARS]HAS BEEN WITH MY BANK FOR A VERY LONG TIME.

ON THIS NOTE I DECIDED TO SEEK FOR WHOM HIS NAME SHALL BE USED AS THE NEXT OF KIN AS NO ONE HAS COME UP TO BE THE NEXT OF KIN.AND THE BANKING ETHICS HERE DOES NOT ALLOW SUCH MONEY TO STAY MORE THAN FIVE YEARS,BECUASE AFTER FIVE YEARS THE MONEY WILL BE RECALLED TO THE BANK TREASURY AS UNCLAIMED DEPOSIT.

IN VIEW OF THIS I SARCHED THE INTERNET AND GOT YOUR IMPRESIVE CONTACT THROUGH MY COUNTRY'S TRADE MISSION GUEST BOOK,AND I CONSIDER YOU FAVOURABLE TO BE USED AS THE NEXT OF KIN TO THE DECEASED CUSTOMER.

THE REQUEST OF A FOREIGNER AS A NEXT OF KIN IN THIS
BUSINESS IS OCCASIONED BY THE FACT THAT THE CUSTOMER
WAS A FOREIGNER LIKE YOU,AND A TOGOLESE LIKE MYSELF CANNOT STAND AS THE NEXT OF KIN TO A FOREIGNER.I AGREED THAT USD 8.5M OF THIS MONEY WILL BE FOR YOU AS A FOREIGN PARTNER IN RESPECT OF PROVIDING A BANK ACCOUNT WERE THE FUNDS WILL BE WIRE,WHILE THE REST WILL BE FOR ME,THEREAFTER I WILL VISIT YOUR COUNTRY FOR DISBURSEMENT AS I AM ALMOST DUE FOR RETIREMENT.

THEREFORE,TO EXPEDITE THE IMMEDIATE TRANSFER OF THIS FUND TO YOUR BANK ACCOUNT,YOU HAVE TO APPLY FIRST TO THE BANK AS A RELATIVE TO THE DECEASED INDICATING YOUR BANK NAME,YOUR BANK ACCOUNT NUMBER,YOUR PRIVATE TELEPHONE NUMBER,YOUR DIRECT FAX NUMBER FOR EASY COMMUNICATION,AND LOCATION WHERE THE MONEY WILL BE WIRED.

UPON THE RECEIPT OF YOUR EMAIL RESPONSE TODAY,I WILL SEND YOU BY E-MAIL THE TEXT OF APPLICATION LETTER AND THE NEXT STEP TO TAKE.I WILL NOT FAIL TO BRING TO YOUR NOTICE THAT THIS BUSINESS IS VERY HITCH FREE AND THAT YOU SHOULD NOT ENTERTAIN ANY FEAR AS THE WHOLE REQUIRED ARRANGEMENT HAS BEEN MADE FOR THE SMOOTH AND HITCH FREE TRANSFER OF FUNDS TO YOUR FOREIGN BANK A/C.

YOU SHOULD CONTACT ME AS A MATTER OF FACT IMMEDIATELY AS SOON AS YOU RECEIVE THIS LETTER.

TRUSTING TO HEAR FROM YOU AS SOON AS POSIBLE.

    RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED,

    MR ALI BELLO
    ECOBANK LOME TOGO
    WEST AFRICA.
    DIRECT TEL:011 228 90 90 720.

I emailed him back and told him to fuck off but he never responded. Sadly, I'm sure there are people who are gullible to fall for this shit, especially the elderly.

See, you've gotten the Nigerian email, but have you received the IRAQI email yet? I got one a couple weeks ago from a guy in Iraq (yeah, right) and he wanted to use my bank account because the evil Americans had taken his bank account away. I was rather bored that night, so I wrote the guy back to tell him thanks for the scam email, but I was one of the evil Americans that had taken away his bank, so he couldn't trust me not to take his money again.
