    Default non-platform shoes

I'm pretty tall already -- 5'9 in bare feet -- and I feel like six-inch platforms make me look ridiculous. On our low lapdance couches, I feel like I'm crouching over customers like some contorted giraffe. A guy recently told me he would never buy a dance from a girl taller than him, and claimed that "most guys" feel the same way. Obviously they don't, because I've always done OK money-wise, even as a giant, but I'd like to try dancing in a pair of "normal" shoes and see how I do.

Does anyone else do this, and how does it work? What kind of shoes do you wear? I'm concerned that most street shoes wouldn't stand up to the rigors of beings danced in all night. Know any extra-sturdy brands? Maybe ballroom dance shoes?

    Thanks!

    Hi!

If you browse online, you should be able to find some clear lucite shoes that have a low heel, like 3 or 4 inches. Also, you could consider buying just a regular (nice ) pair of strapless black or white heels..... I like the clear ones though bc at least they look "Stripper-ish" still lol.

Personally I am only 5'2" so feel free to donate an extra couple inches my way. I would LOVE to be 5'9".... but sadly, the only time that ever happens is when I wear my seven inch heels.

i actually wear my old prom shoes for dancing. they are clear with little 3 inch stilleto heels, and i think i actually got them at payless or some cheapass place. as long as the heels are clear and you wear them with some legwarmers or stockings, they still look very strippery! i don't know if you have this store in your area, but check out www.debshops.com because they have a fantastic selection of shoes. there are no shoes on the website... but hopefully you can find a store at your local mall or whatever. they have tons of clear heels, and other shoes with sparkles and fancy straps that could definitely pass for stripper shoes. most of the heels there are 4 inches. i'm only 5'6" but i hate dancing in tall shoes because i don't wanna be 6 feet tall!!! plus, lower heels are WAY easier to dance in.

I have a pair of Pleaser 4" lucite heels that I wear when I want a break from the tall heels, and I'm 5'6". I don't think you should worry about being too tall or looking ridiculous; I've worked with plenty of tall gals who were no such thing. But if it makes it more comfortable to do dances, by all means try out some shorter heels.

Get stripper shoes just the same. There are plenty of 3 and 4 inch no-platform heels you can get that won't look out of place like civilian pumps and sandals do. Snaz75 has a lot and Bridgette has some cool ones too.

I'm 5'3 so I'm not as lucky as you are! I'd love to be taller....but anyways, the tall girls at my club wear regular stripper shoes. They do look unbelievable tall but guys don't seem to care, these girls make really really good money. And every time they take a guy for a dance the guy looks tiny. So I don't think you should worry about that.

But, I also want to share something that I have noticed. Over the past 2 months I have had around 10 guys who have asked to take off my shoes, something that I feel really uncomfortable with, (i'm short), because they claim they hate our shoes. They say they don't understand why we have to wear such horrible shoes. On saturday, I asked 4 guys if they like our shoes. 1 said he doesn't. 1 said he does. Another one said he doesn't care about the shoes. And the last one said he does, but he doesn't see why they have to be so tall. He says the gap between the heel and the plataform looks very weird.....

I'm like....what the fuck? I thought show girls and porn stars wear these shoes because guys find them so hot. But husband does though, he thinks our shoes are so damn sexy.

Grace, is it possible to take your shoes off when giving dances? I do, but it's mainly for my comfort, although sometimes guys who are intimidated by my height feel better about my *actual* height (5'6'') when I take my shoes off and don't tower over them...

I think the majority of guys do like the tall heels.

A girl at my club wears at least 7 inchers and she has to be 5'8 or taller. I think she looks really hot in them, and the guys buy dance after dance from her. She does take them off to do her private dances though, maybe to be less intimidating.

Hey there. I'm about 5'9 also and I regularly wear six-inch platforms. I find that making myself so much taller kind of helps because guys always comment on my height and legs. If I were you I'd either buy some lower heels and try them out or take your shoes off while dancing and see how that works. I like to use the whole amazon girl thing to my advantage though. I've also danced for plenty of short guys and they didn't seem bothered.

I wish I could agree with everyone else, but as a 6 footer, I make more money wearing 5 inchers. (They are Tony Shoes, and they have a little platform)

As much as some men may love tall women, it's one thing to tower over them. In my experience, shorter guys love our height. It's the average guys that are a toss-up. I stand next to tall guys and chat with them, and they tell me I make THEM fell short. Maybe it's a mental thing for me, ( I haven't been dancing very long) but I made the change and have gotten positive remarks even though I never brought it up to anyone.

Maybe you should just switch it out on nights that are really good and see if your money goes up, it can't hurt.

I'm 5'10 and I love 6 or 7 inchers. I do come across the odd guy who tells me he wouldn't get dances from a women taller than him, but who cares..everyone has their preference. I love tall women in high high heels cuz it make our legs look ridiculous, which is a turn on for so many men.

I'm 5'2". But, with my 6" heels, I'm at least eye-level with a lot of the guys! Even taller than quite a few of them. So, I can't believe that guys are really that picky about it! You'd have to be REALLY short! I think the extra height you girls have makes you stand out more! Besides, you're usually sitting with the guy when you're talking to him, not standing.

I can't wear platforms because I fall down so I usually stick to pumps aka the old school stripper shoes.

My hubby is a nutball then, he thinks the women that wear cheerleading outfits and tennis shoes on stage are to DIE for!

He hates the shoes for the most part, but does like the fact that when I wear then, he doesn't have to bend down for kisses!

Miss_Luscious , that is exactly the only style I've ever worn. Old stripper style, perhaps, but I think platforms are ugly... just my opinion and personal preference however....

Wild Rose brand shoes have a lot of cute low-heeled shoes (2-4 inches) I bet if you look in "women's formal wear" shops you'll find something you like.

Also believe it or not Wal-Mart sells some Lucite heel formal shoes in different styles, in modest heights...We were laughing our asses off about it when we saw them, but it might be the quickest way to find something.

she took the words right out of my mouth. i do that too. i think it helps a lot. and im 5'7" and a half ish, and the 5" make me about 6'. guys always say im so tall but i laugh and make a joke out of the "required uniform heels", which often leads into them feeling comfortable with me because i'll say things like, i wish i was this tall and i coulda worn these heels on the court, or, i bet you are really taller than me!

    Love it!

Theres a girl I work with that wears ballet slippers and always with some crazy stockings. She looks awesome and moves like no stripper Ive ever seen. She has knee problems so she has never been able to wear the platforms. It may not work for everyone but it definetly works for her.

see, I really like these shoes (I'm 5' 10"), but clear ones match with everything, lol. I hate loading my bag up with all those heavy shoes. Hell, I already carry at least 3 pairs (clear, red, black) in my bag at a time

Maybe I'll get a black pair, and see how that goes

I wear the old school pumps too, I always wear the bottoms right off the traditional platforms within the first week. I got black because it always goes with jet black hair, provides some balance. They are awesome when it comes to holding up for over a year and still looking brand new, but I warn you, SCUFF THE BOTTOMS HARD CORE on some cement or something, if not you will fall on your butt on the more slippery stage surfaces doing some moves!

I just ordered a pair of 7'' clear stilettoes to practice in, because I already tried walking around in my friend's 7'' chunky slip ons. I'm 5'9'', so I guess that would put me at around 6'4"... is that bad?

I'm 5'9" and wear 4-5" heels, and I know I make more $$$ than several of the shorter girls at my club. The top earner at my club is 5'10" and wears 8" platform boots! Both of us get a lot of compliments on our height and long legs.

I'm sure theres guys who prefer a woman shorter than them, but for that one guy to say most men would never buy a dance from a taller woman is just ridiculous. I think he was just saying that to cut you down. Don't listen to him!

I do think lower heels are more comfortable though. Hell, wear whatever you feel confident in!

I am 5'8" and wear 6 inch platforms. Occasionally I get a guy who doesn't like tall women, but for the most part I think they help me make more money.

When I first started dancing, I wore some Ellie clears that had a tiny 1/2 inch platform, but still looked like stripper heels. I think the heel was 4.5 inches.

Im 5'10" and I wear 6 inches. I do get the occasional guy (usually a young punk) who says something... like holy shit your tall.. and Im so sick of hearing shit like that that I usually come off with a comment like "Holy shit Im sure you cant fuck" or "Thats ok, short guys have small dicks."

More often than not.. the asshole comment guy buys dances from me or at least throws me some money on stage.

But I do take mine off to do LD's because I feel 3000 feet tall over that poor soul on that black leather couch.. =)
